B also wouldn’t give a dental imprint of her teeth so I’d say she participated in the abuse. They are guilty for allowing it happen. How can anyone just stand by and let that happen to a child is beyond anything I’ll ever understand.

Yes, don’t worry I understand, I was also on the fence about her involvement.

I am curious about what happens now that Urfan has confessed and accepted responsibility for Sara’s death.

What happens to BB & the uncle?
Would they be automatically acquitted if he has confessed?
Highly doubt they will be acquitted both fled the scene of a crime and both allowed the death of a child especially bienash as she shows she was aware of the damage in messages to her sisters

Well I wasn't expecting that!

Not sure what happens now but even if he's claiming he's solely responsible for her injuries, the other 2 are still on trial for causing/allowing the death of a child. The pathologists said that the injuries happened over a period of time, not a one off event. At a minimum the other 2 witnessed Sara being abused and did nothing. I would guess that the barristers and Judge will have a private meeting in Chambers to discuss a way forward.

"Urfan Sharif says he takes ‘full responsibility’ for 10-year-old’s death and admits beating her with cricket bat"

Sara Sharif’s father has told a court he takes “full responsibility” for the 10-year-old’s death and admitted beating her with a cricket bat and a white metal pole.

Urfan Sharif told jurors he accepted everything that he had told police in a 999 call and a handwritten confession after his daughter’s death.

During cross-examination by his wife, Beinash Batool’s barrister, Caroline Carberry KC, he was asked: “Did you kill your daughter by beating?” He replied: “Yes, she died because of me.”

Sharif, 42, Batool, 30, and Sharif’s brother Faisal Malik, 29, are on trial accused of carrying out a violent “campaign of abuse” before Sara was found dead in a bunk bed at the family home in Surrey on 10 August 2023.

The defendants allegedly killed 10-year-old Sara on 8 August before fleeing to Pakistan, from where Sharif called police to say he had “beat her up too much”. He had left a handwritten “confession” near her fully clothed body saying: “I swear to God that my intention was not to kill her. But I lost it.”

As Sharif was to be cross-examined for the third day at the Old Bailey, he said: “I want to say something.”

He went on to say: “I want to admit that it’s all my fault. I want the court to consider my full note and confession. That I admit what I said in my phone call and my written note, every single word.”

Carberry asked: “In the weeks before she died, she suffered multiple fractures to her body, didn’t she, and it was you who inflicted those injuries, wasn’t it?”

He replied: “Yes ma’am.”

She asked: “Do you accept inflicting all the injuries?” Sharif replied: “Not the burn marks, not the bite marks. Not the head bruises, not the bruises to her face.”

He was asked what it was that he was accepting and he replied: “I take the full responsibility.”

Carberry asked: “Would it help you if we looked at the injuries graphic?” Sharif replied: “No. I can’t look at that, I can’t look at that.”

She asked: “Do you accept causing the fractures to you little girl’s body?” He replied: “Yes.”

She asked: “Do you accept causing those fractures by hitting her with something?” He replied: “Yes.”

Carberry asked: “Did you use the cricket bat to inflict those injuries on her?” He replied: “Yes, ma’am.”

She went on: “Did you use the white metal pole to cause those linear marks we can see to her abdomen and legs?” He replied: “Yes, ma’am.”

She also asked: “Did you injure her neck causing the break to her hyoid bone?” He replied: “I don’t know how that happened.”

Carberry also asked him about video shown to jurors in which Sara can be seen dancing two days before she was allegedly killed.

She said: “We know from the material we have that on 6 August, two days before she died, she was walking and dancing and moving around in front of the television and something happened to her after that; and I’m going to suggest to you this is what happened after that on the night of 6 August: you badly beat your daughter, do accept that?” He replied: “I accept everything.”

She asked again: “Do you accept on the night of 6 August you badly beat your daughter?” He replied: “I accept everything.”

Batool left the dock sobbing and the trial was suspended.

What's happened to your usual faith in the courts, Dotta?! I don't believe they will.
I can understand Dottas fear especially re the uncle . Bienash has shown she had knowledge and did nothing to help that can be prosecuted.

So far 'dear uncle " has no incriminating evidence against him other than providing the ticket money and fleeing scene of crime but his barrister could argue he was afraid of urfan and complied with urfans orders to flee . and i have said in a previous thread uncle looks like a deer caught in the headlights in mug shot .

Dna evidence on belt cannot really be differentiated between wearing or using as a weapon I don't think . It could be claimed urfan used fasials belt to strangle Sara as it may have been laying next to him as far as connecting it to fasials using it as a weapon that would possibly be circumstantial evidence??

Olga Sharif, as the biological mother of Sara Sharif and her 13-year-old brother, held Parental Responsibility (PR) for both children. In the UK, a mother automatically has PR unless it has been legally removed through processes such as specific court orders.

In 2019, a family court ruled that Sara and her older brother should live with their father, Urfan Sharif. This decision pertained to the children's living arrangements and did not necessarily affect Olga's PR status. Therefore, unless there was a specific court order removing her PR, Olga would have retained her parental rights and responsibilities. Does anyone know if this was removed?

Since the PR encompasses the legal rights and duties a parent has concerning their child's upbringing, including decisions about education, health care, and welfare. Even if a child resides with one parent, the other parent typically retains PR unless a court decides otherwise.

So unless Olga had the PR removed, how could BB and US take Sara off school?

Beinash Batool sought legal advice regarding Child Arrangement Orders (In February 2022, she consulted solicitors who provided guidance on non-molestation orders and Child Arrangement Orders. Also she reached out to them via email, inquiring about the necessary forms to obtain a court order concerning the children and stepchildren). Had she filled in the form and gained CAO, Olga would have been notified.

I do think they all three are guilty of her death. I honestly dont care who was left holding the smoking gun. They all are responsible (JMO)

Rather than spending time on her phone texting her relatives, B should have been calling the police and Social Service!

I still do not understand how Sara could have been dancing around the room two days before the 6th August given all the injuries she had previously sustained.

From the Daily Mail article linked to above -

"He asked to sit down and wept as Ms Carberry asked: 'She died because you beat her. So that is true?'

He said: 'Yes ma'am. I take full responsibility.

But he shook his head when asked if he intended to cause serious harm or to kill her."

So it looks like he's still denying that it's murder, so I think the trial carries on. Effectively, he's just admitted to Sara's manslaughter.

So from what I have read above he’s confessed to everything except the burns and bite marks and possibly strangulation?

If that’s to be believed, someone (or two someone’s) are responsible for those injuries. Step mum wouldn’t provide dental impressions so that is seeming pretty incriminating.

Uncle at the moment seems to have evidence at the very least of being some kind of accessory after the fact (or whatever the UK equivalent is).

I hope we get to see that video at some stage, post trial.
I don't think so either tbh . Didn't the expert state in his evidence that Sara's injuries would be visible to anyone who lived in the house and that some of the severe injuries were weeks old . I think dates were changed on timestamp unless police got data from network ? I'm not too tech savvy so not sure how it works

A postmortem examination revealed ten spinal fractures and further fractures to her right collar bone, both shoulder blades, both arms, both hands, three separate fingers, bones near the wrist in each hand, two ribs and her hyoid bone in the neck

As far as I can remember some of these injuries were inflicted longer than a couple of days before her death. I really find it difficult to believe she could walk yet alone dance ,especially as she also had iron burns and bite marks which might well have turned septic.
