This included accounts from the children of Sharif waving a knife, encouraging one of his children to kick over Lego and one of the children saying that Sharif hit Olga.

During a supervised visit?
I thought a supervised visit was a supervised visit.

Why are ‘children’s accounts’ recorded? If the visits were supervised would these not have been observations? Or was US visiting at other times than the supervised meetings?
All interactions between parents and children, anything either adults or children say of any significance is documented if supervision is by a professional. I've done this in a previous role. We observe interactions, comment on the parents ability and willingness to interact, any activities they provide or take part in, observations on emotional warmth etc.

I do agree that none of them would have wanted to involve any outside agencies.
Urfan is again lying saying Beinash wanted to call an ambulance.
I find this sudden u-turn in evidence (obviously done without consulting his own legal counsel) to be completely baffling. Haven't caught up with all the news today, but from the snippets I've read, it sounds like he's decided to go along with everything Batool's barrister puts to to him (thus "exonerating" Batool in the process).

I had a firm impression that Batool was mainly responsible, based on the evidence (the bite marks and burns which he still says he's not responsible for, the screams when no-one else was home, ordering sellotape, the inconsistencies in the whatsapp messages that Batool sent to her sister etc.). The confessions (written and verbal) seemed out of place against this backdrop and consistent with false confessions.

And why would he remove the ring doorbell but leave all the weapons to be found? Why, if he did it and had already planned to confess, would he remove that doorbell?

I have more questions now than I had yesterday...

100% agree.

Something strange is happening there

My worry is that it all might explode into some kind of mistrial :(

But,
on the other hand,
the trial is conducted by KCs.
At Old Bailey.
The best of the best, no?

I think he knows his brother will side with Beinash and just tell it. At least how the last night went down. Under oath and all of that. JMO.

There is a court drawing somewhere in one of the links here of them attending on a video link -both of them together, and the prison being identified as Belmarsh.

I would expect them to be kept apart, but don't know.

On the face of it, today's evidence favours Batool rather than his brother. Anyone living in the household, even a lodger or a child over 16 would be charged with the offence, simply because they failed to intervene or failed to alert authorities if they could not intervene. The only defence would be along the lines of mental incapacity or lack of knowledge.

The uncle appears to be claiming a "lack of knowledge" defence and in doing so can't corroborate or deny any version of events (aside from what happened in the aftermath of Sara's death). The burden of proof is on the prosecution to prove the uncle's culpability and, since he cannot deny or corroborate, the best legal strategy would be to not give evidence. However, since Urfan's previous account suggested that Batool was inflicting injuries when she was left alone with the children, his confession makes it more likely that the uncle was also in the house at the relevant times and therefore had knowledge of what was happening. The confession only "protects" Batool.

Wednesday November 13

Batool’s barrister asked Sharif about problems Sara developed with vomiting and soiling herself, and Sharif accepted
that he punched and kicked her when she refused to get into the bath.

Sharif also accepted that Batool regularly
begged him to allow Sara medical help,
which he refused.

He also accepted hitting Sara on the face on 17 April
and then sending an email to the school to say she would be home schooled.

Sharif was asked about Batool’s online shopping history,
and he accepted that he asked Batool to buy things for him online.

Initially he denied asking Batool to buy packing tape, but later accepted it.

The trial continues tomorrow,
Faisal Malik’s counsel,
Mr Ivers, is expected to cross examine Sharif,
along with the prosecution counsel.

Much more in the link:

Please don't come for me, but as many have mentioned the picture of beautiful Sara in that green dress. I'm sorry but she looks to have been done up to make her look so much older.. even the earrings. Could it be possible that.. as from what I have seen in documentaries that he wanted to arrange a marriage for Sara for money, but because Sara was not full Pakistani that was proving difficult and thats why U hated her so much. He was in debt after all. Could the other kids also have been so badly abused that they got them out of the country so their true cruelty to all children wouldn't come out. This whole cruelty to Sara is enraging me. There is some reason she was singled out or all the children were being abused surley. I noticed on the news tonight in a photo at the airport of one of the little girls clasping her hands together as if she were frightened. It is the pic of them going through passport control. Pic in below article sara sharif £family at airport - Google Search

He denied tying Sara up and putting her in the outbuilding as a punishment and to keep her out of sight and hearing when he beat her.

Mrs Carberry talked through several exhibits showing items which were found in the shed. Sharif accepted using the cricket bat, the pole (which was an extendable leg of a highchair) and tape.

The belt found in the outbuilding was discussed with reference to DNA on it, and Sharif said that he shared his belt with Faisal Malik his co-accused brother and that Sara did the laundry.

Sharif said he didn’t know how Sara got her injury to the hyoid bone and the linear marks on her neck, but accepted he had put his hands around her neck more than once.

He was questioned again about Sunday, August 6. He changed his testimony from earlier in the morning and said he did not assault Sara, stating it was his “last proper interaction with my
daughter. I didn’t touch her that day.”

Sharif told the court that the last time he beat Sara was on the day she died, and said he beat her with a pole while she was on Batool’s lap. Sharif refused to let Batool call an ambulance and Sara died one or two minutes after he entered the room.

He told the court he checked her pulse and gave her CPR but she didn’t wake up. He didn’t know if Malik was home at this time.

I think many of us thought Sara had been put in the outhouse.

His story still does not seem to be true.

Re uncle

- a belt in the shed/outbuilding with his DNA
- neighbour's testimony that she saw him frequently in/near the house
- paid for the tickets
- fled to Pakistan

But yet he states he called his brother up to the room to call an ambulance and bienash stopped them both from doing so which I had said was rubbish as I believed there was no way bienash was controlling the two men . Upon entering the room malik supposedly start sobbing . I don't think urfan knows his arse from his elbow and in his efforts to deflect the blame to bienash and protect malik at the same time is tying himself and everyone else in knots

I did say the evidence on the belt would be explained by a sharing of the belt

He admitted he beat Sara “severely” over several weeks because he was angry that the schoolgirl had started soiling herself and vomiting.

Carberry further asked, “You have pleaded not guilty to the offence of murder. Would you like that charge to be put to you again?” He replied in the affirmative.

Meanwhile, Sharif’s barrister, Naeem Mian KC, stood up and asked for time to speak to his defendant. He told the court, “We would like to make an application to see Sharif before any indictment is to put him.”

I do not think anyone is telling the truth about Sara's last day(s) . It is quite possible she was hidden in the outhouse and was discovered dead by one of them.

Yes,
The piercing scream the neighbour heard 2 days before girl's death
was the last sound Sara uttered IMO.

That is what I always thought.
And maybe she was left in this hideous shed and died there.

The video shows her dancing
(2 days before her death)
despite horrendous injuries.
It showed her zest for life.

I don't think urfan is trying to exonerate anyone . He is not capable of putting others before himself imo .

I'm calling it now he is trying to get a mis- trial the good news is if he gets his way the uk doesn't use a double jeopardy clause for serious offences and he can be retried with a new jury . Bad news is sometimes the defendant can be freed while awaiting a new trial but this can be rejected by a judge .

He is trying to throw the court into confusion which he is almost succeeding at . And this can prejudice a juries opinion .
One of the bases of a mistrial is when a defendant cannot get a fair trial because the jury has been prejudiced and if jurors are a selection of our peers . We at webslueths are also a jury of sorts with various opinions and judgements and urfan succeeded in confusing us today . And has prejudiced any future evidence we may be given to absolve him of stuff he admitted today . Clever c u next Tuesday.

He is a master manipulator and he is trying to control the room even by seeming to agree and confess only to swiftly pull the rug from under our feet . He is trying to gaslight a lot of people like he has always done . It is an Art form to him and because I have no doubt he has a superiority complex . He thinks he is too cunning for justice .

And I bet he gaslighted the Court fighting to remove Sara from bio Mother.

C'mon!
He recorded a girl talking about Olga.
How convenient!
A 6 year old child talking about cannabis!!!
Sure
After instructing her what to tell no doubt.

What a pity Olga's children weren't sent to Poland to live with grandmother.
Her heart is broken.
Polish family would take them with open arms.
