I do feel very torn by the guilty verdict. This mother does seem VERY genuine about the 3 of thems relationship. I definitely think, had this stabbing been intentional, the mother would agree he deserves to be punished. I understand the coroner's report that the knife HAD to have been held very firmly in order to pierce 11cm but I just don't think it was intentional. Not a single person who knows them or even knows of these people have said anything derogatory about him or that he has a temper.

I feel incredibly sorry for Scarlett. She didn't stand a chance with parents like that.

Think about it, how many people 'accidently' kill their daughter like that..

The mother just doesn't want to be alone. I'm disgusted by her family's reactions to her murder to be completely honest.

Lord Justice Stuart-Smith said Scarlett and her parents had been a "happy family who doted on each other" whose lives "changed catastrophically" on 5 July.

He said Scarlett's mother Sarah Hall and their wider family still "resolutely supported" Vickers.

But, he added, the appeal court could not let the family's vehement defences of Vickers affect them and the findings of the jury had to be respected.

Lord Justice Stuart-Smith said the trial judge had reached a "justified and humane conclusion" in a "very difficult" case, adding: "It is properly to be described as merciful, but it is none the worse for that."
