Another interesting bit of info regarding SJL in the CTWB and playing tennis and a new tennis racquet she had (on the last page)
It only brings forward even more questions.

Below section is a bit more about GP and the NB journey. ( I have read somewhere else she actually retracted her statement, but I think this was around her saying that JC confessed) . There is another article around this time where she says she was driven to the Barracks by JC but was not prepared to discuss the circumstances surrounding it) . Odd that then this fairly detailed account is then published.

the tennis racquet found in SL flat could have been purchased by SL herself. or did detectives check this out and realised someone else gave it her.

True, although for someone locked up in a hostel he seemed to have a lot of freedom. Feels unlikely I agree.
Location of tennis courts in 1986 closest to SJL (Bishops park?)

The statements from these friends are crazy. If this was the same man, how on earth do they not have any idea who he might be.

Great minds…In other sources they say a ‘gift’ I wonder who told them?

True, this is a very interesting point. Now why would they say she was given it. It had to be expensive I would say and/or not a very common brand.

There’s an article saying she planned to play tennis with friends after work & confirms courts were indeed Bishop’s Park.

DV makes a point in his book that she’d have been rushing after work due to the light & needed to pick up kit (not found in car) but these courts were floodlit in 1986 so no urgency.

On the tennis the rich expat poss an overlooked source, he was a very keen competitive player & overseas when this came to light. Did they ask him?

Good question!!

Thanks. NB: DV below on topic. He’s missed the courts in question named in Press - although if tennis fan, generationally wealthy expat he’d likely have membership or access to Hurlingham Club. If that’s who she was playing with. We know she’d been seeing him so maybe not a bad guess (?)

As he was heading to other home overseas following week or thereabouts - I think Tues party of his a leaving do - poss packing a lot in to short time (?) Might be reason for generous gift if him.

The courts she was playing on were floodlit from end of 1985/start 1986. I have an article I found on how the lighting revolutionised evening play there. Will dig up. If floodlit no rush to catch light (?)

DH, was her main tennis buddy apparently. There’s an article about how they loved to play whenever they could. He was away though at time.

NB: this ‘beautiful uptown girl’ he boasted about dating in Fulham. Same language as Superhire colleague in doc ‘he was dating a beautiful uptown girl named Sue Sue’. We now know this was almost certainly ‘Sue’ from Peabody estate.

On tennis racquet, it’s an interesting detail, the obvious thing would be she bought it herself (??) but I’ve read elsewhere they thought it was a very recent ‘gift’. I wonder who was source there? Lodger? Mum?

On the Bristol link, I read her mother also said she dated someone scary from there & planned to drop him. Similar said here. DV made good point Birmingham/Sutton Coldfield his home (so no Bristol link) & his time living in Bristol came later. That’s true BUT allegedly he called himself a Bristol businessman in May 86 & also of course he’d spent a lot of time in Bristol, albeit at Her Majesty’s Pleasure :)

There was also, as DV rightly said, a West Country or Bristol affair & and this was in 1984. He omits that also there seem to have been references to a date from Bristol from May 1986.
the info is madness. he was in prison, so he cant be bristol businessman, and why travel over hundred miles to dispose of SL body.

they obviously asked certain people if they gave SL the tennis racquet and no one had.

yes, a gift from a mystery man. it could have been a gift from mystery married man SL was dating.

Hi So this expat. Is there much known about him?
Interesting ( so this is the guy she was with whilst AL was away on holiday? AS pgs 76 through 82 particularly. This also mentions the American football match but does not say she was to go to that with AL)

It’s interesting isn’t it how DL never actually sees these flowers but, of course, they were utterly breathtaking… apparently!

Similarly, the stuff about a man watching Suzy play tennis from the shadows… how do we know he was watching Suzy?
