AS could’ve had access to every single police note and every diary entry and letter pertaining to this case (he almost certainly didn’t, obviously!) but if the information contained within them was unreliable or not credible then the story is compromised.

Quite. The police reckon it was JC, but JC was not in the files at the time - so the information in them must be worthless in their current view.

DV was a cop for around 3 yrs

His website says 'decades.' Media sources say 20 years.

no way. i bet the police all had a great laugh when DV put his theory forward. they must have thought he was a loony tunes, ha, ha.

I do know for a fact not the case. Some of the investigative work he did has been v valuable & even shed new light. As you say though, proving anything at so many years distance a real challenge.

i disagree. there are many investigative jornalists who do a excellent job on certain cases. they are just as smart as detectives. DV was a cop for around 3 yrs, which is not very long. he obviously was not built to be a street smart investigator/detective. DV saying SL never took the keys to 37SR is an insult to the original detective DCS carter. carter would not miss such a key detail in the case.

But any staff member could have removed the keys so that is not really provable

It was what DV turned up beyond any direct ‘KH theory’ that was especially interesting & important I believe. DV made some new discoveries.

That reminds me of the reconstruction of arguing couple (woman looking like she’s screaming) in BMW (2000 Crimewatch) but guess you’ve ruled that out?

No not how you describe it. I recall a young couple in a car driving behind a car in front and i dont recall them talking about an arguing couple but a woman acting strangely as if she was pleading in the rear view window to them the couple in the car behind that she might need help. There was no arguing mentioned. This is a very old memory but I specifically remember they were just talking about a woman possibly asking for help.

Well that would tally with mrs jagodas sighting of sl outside 123sr, i was thinking maybe sl with her assumed dyslexia may have mistaken shorrolds road (sr) with stevenage road (sr) possibly?

I don’t think the alleged sighting of Penny mouthing for help was in the CW reconstruction, the witness who claimed to have seen this came forward as a result of seeing the show IIRC.

Probably just coincidence, but Sharon Hoare was murdered in Fulham in 1991. She had a much older, businessman 'boyfriend' from Bristol, and was involved in a mailing address fraud.
