"The regime in Tehran is increasingly distributing AI-generated Lego videos as a propaganda tool against Israel and the United States. These videos show, among other things, attacks on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a weeping President Trump, and a dominant Iranian army. "Lego-style images can make war and suffering more relatable."

Former NATO official William Alberque says 440 kg of missing Iranian uranium is blocking a US victory claim. He warns that despite strikes on Natanz Nuclear Facility, the risk of proliferation remains.

Stating the obvious ...

"The war in Iran is a "catastrophic mistake" that violates international law. So says German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The president's criticism goes beyond what German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said so far. In Germany, the president primarily has a ceremonial role. But that allows him to speak more freely than other politicians.

Steinmeier also lashes out at Donald Trump. According to him, Trump's second term represents just as much a rift in German foreign relations as the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "Just as I believe that we cannot return to our relations with Russia before February 24, 2022, I believe that in transatlantic relations, there is no return possible to the situation before January 20, 2025."

"In Isfahan, Iran, a gas plant has been "partially damaged" following an attack by Israel or the United States, according to the Iranian news agency Fars. An administrative building at the plant was also damaged.

According to Fars, a gas plant in the southwestern port city of Khorramshahr was also attacked. According to local authorities, the plant is still operating properly and the gas supply to the city has not been disrupted.

The attack comes a day after US President Trump said that the US would not attack power plants for at least five days, to give the talks with Iran that he considered ongoing, a chance."

"According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the American and Israeli bombings of Iranian territory have already damaged or destroyed more than 82,000 civilian buildings.

According to that organization, among the damaged buildings are 62,000 homes and 281 medical centers, hospitals, and pharmacies. Rockets also struck 17 rescue posts and 12 rescue vehicles.

Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the organization, cites an incident in Lar, in the south of the country, in a video published by the Red Crescent. "There was absolutely nothing left of the ambulance that was transporting the wounded."

"Iran is certainly not stopping all ships in the Strait of Hormuz. This is evident from data provided by MarineTraffic. Since yesterday, at least 9 ships have passed through the strait, the service reports on X. Iran appears to be choosing to allow ships through if they sail close to the island of Qeshm. However, this is not without danger.

Iran has previously stated on several occasions that ships can indeed sail through the Strait of Hormuz, provided they sail close to the Iranian coast and do so in consultation with the Iranian authorities. Iran also claims that it only blocks ships affiliated with "hostile" states."

"The complete destruction of Iran is not an option." That is what a spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs says. "We in the Gulf States believe in living side by side. We believe in seeking rapprochement with Iran," they state.

Qatar emphasizes, however, that it is not currently mediating between the United States and Iran. "We are not involved in those talks," says the spokesperson. "Our main concern and priority at the moment is the protection of our country and taking diplomatic measures."

In addition to the 2500 ground troops on their way from the Japan area, another 3000 troops may be heading to Iran. Is that de-escalation?

"US President Trump is reportedly planning to send several thousand additional troops to the Middle East. This is reported by American and British media, citing anonymous government sources. A written order is expected within a few hours, writes The Wall Street Journal.

According to the newspaper, it involves 3,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division, an elite unit. That unit can be deployed anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. They are trained to parachute into hostile or disputed territory and secure airports and territory there; they are known as airborne troops. Reuters also learns from sources that it concerns the 82nd Airborne Division. Reuters speaks of "thousands of troops".

The Wall Street Journal's sources, however, emphasize that Trump has not yet made a decision to deploy ground troops to Iran, often referred to as "boots on the ground" in English-language media. But sending this elite unit would allow Trump to forcibly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, seize strategic Iranian islands or the coastline, or get his hands on enriched uranium, should he decide to do so.

It was previously known that another large American naval unit is on its way to the Middle East. It is coming all the way from the vicinity of Japan and is expected to arrive in the Middle East at the end of this week."

The Pentagon is planning to deploy about 3,000 soldiers from the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East to support operations against Iran, according to two U.S. officials, with a written order expected in the coming hours.
Officials cautioned that a decision to put boots on the ground in Iran hasn’t been made. But deploying the 82nd opens the door to President Trump for several strategic options.

Meanwhile, Iran pressed its assault in the Middle East, hitting Israel as well as Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia with fresh attacks, as Tehran officials worried that diplomatic attempts to secure a cease-fire could be a trap.

"They did something yesterday that was amazing, actually, they gave us a present," the president said of Iran. "And the present arrived today. It was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money. And I'm not going to tell you what that present is, but it was a very significant prize. And they gave it to us. And they said they were going to give it, so that meant one thing to me — we're dealing with the right people." The president said the present was related to oil and gas.

"It wasn't nuclear-related. It was oil-and-gas-related. And it was a very nice thing they did," he said.

Iranian representatives have let the Trump administration know it does not want to re-enter negotiations with special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and would prefer to engage with Vice President JD Vance, two regional sources said.

The message, which was passed through back channels to the US, signals Iran believes discussions involving Witkoff and Kushner wouldn’t be productive given the deficit of trust following the breakdown of negotiations prior to Israel and the US launching military action.

Vance — in contrast to Witkoff, Kushner and even Secretary of State Marco Rubio — is viewed as more sympathetic to wanting to end the war, the sources said.

“The perception is that Vance would be intent on wrapping up the conflict,” one of the sources said.
Though regional players also recognize that it could be risky for Vance to enter into negotiations as it won’t be easy to negotiate an end to the conflict.

Witkoff, in particular remains heavily involved in the portfolio from the US side and the sources said that the Iranians will likely have no option but to engage with whoever the Trump administration sends to negotiate.

“Who the administration decides to send, the Iranians will have to deal with, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have a preference,” the second source said.

"The United States has reportedly delivered a 15-point peace plan to Iran. This is reported by The New York Times, news agency Reuters, and Israeli media outlet Channel 12, based on anonymous sources. The plan was allegedly delivered to Iran via Pakistan.

For instance, according to its nuclear weapons program, Iran should dismantle and commit to inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Iran must also stop financing and arming organizations such as Hezbollah in Lebanon. Additionally, the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened.

In exchange, the US would drop all sanctions against the country. The Americans would also help Iran with a civilian nuclear energy program."
