UT UT - Alisa Petrov,15, from So Jordan, left school in American Fork, took UTA train to Provo, asked multiple for help to get to Las Vegas, 21 Apr 2025

I don't think this is a normal situation. For a 15-year-old to be communicating with several adult males is not normal at all. And I don't believe this is about attention because if she wanted to have the type of conversation she was having with them, with boys her age, they 100% would give her attention too. Did she ever date boys her age? Did she ever even shown interest in boys her age? I think this is much more about her wanting to leave whatever situation she might have been in, and looking for an older guy to facilitate it, but then she never even asks these guys for help, money, etc, she just tells them she's running away and to not contact her anymore. Unfortunately, this is not normal or healthy and those pieces of trash had no business talking the way they did with a 15-year-old girl. In my opinion, this girl is running from something.

It is possible people thought she was older when she asked for help purchasing a ticket. At least what I have read, it is very vague. I know as I age, everyone under 25 or so looks REALLY young to me. Especially if she was wearing make up, and out in public at a time when younger kids/teens would reasonably be expected to be in school, my brain might register she was 18 or 19.

We also do not know what "asked for help" means. Did she flat out ask someone to purchase the ticket FOR her, or was it more general? I wouldn't call the police if a young person was confused about how to buy a bus or train ticket. That seems pretty ordinary to me. Who knows what she might have told them as well? She could have lied and said she had to meet a family member, had an appointment, and interview, who really knows?

It is clear she is young, but she also doesn't look 12, kwim?

Walking in and out of school grounds is a different story. They're responsible for kids in their care. I know where I live some schools will allow seniors, and occasionally juniors, in good standing to sign out for lunch or leave early if they have completed academic classes for the day, but that is not what happened here.

OK, I have to ask: Those who feel her home life may have been an issue, why would the iPad still have been in the home if this was the case? If an adult was sending messages or somehow involved on her end, that seems really odd to me. Wouldn't they have gotten rid of it? Am I overlooking something?

I'm shocked by her asking the one guy to k*nap her and her calling him D*ddy, and so on. The really graphic nature of scenarios we are hearing of as this continues to unfold doesn't strike me as the kind of thing a typical 15 year-old girl would know about either, but the world is a strange place these days.

That is why I was wondering if her alleged interest in forensics found her learning about some dark stuff, and got her into a mess? I've 100% learned some new and highly disturbing things during my time on WS. I'd hate to think about any kids sneaking around forums like this one. And this is well moderated, I'm sure there are places out there, things on YouTube, etc.....I don't really want to know myself.

But I DO wonder if it started with her thinking she was a sleuth or something? Because it really does NOT make sense how she would just find an old iPad and suddenly be engaged in extremely hardcore situations with multiple middle aged men? One guy who was a smooth talker? OK, but this is all just....shocking. :( Poor girl.

Going before a judge today?

'On Wednesday evening, Matthew Nicholas Menard, of Miami, Florida, surrendered himself to the South Jordan Police Department, the police department said.

He is facing charges of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation'.

MOO Random thoughts:

1) AGE: Alisa turned 15 just a few days before she was last seen. So she started taking to these men when she was just 14. Was there significance of turning 15? How was her birthday? I confirmed there are no states with 15 as age of consent.

2) SOCIAL: How was her school life? Maybe she was trying to escape school vs home? Any strong female friendships? Any other friends also talking to men?

3) MOTIVATION: It appears none of the men actually met her (though talked about it) Could it be possible the men were focused on getting her comfortable so she would send explicit images and videos that they could sell/distribute? It appears she did send pictures to at least one man.

4) IRL: Possibly there were more men involved, or she believed one would actually meet her where she was going or she encountered someone she'd never talked to before and it ended badly. She was in such a vulnerable state. No money (it seems sense she was asking strangers for help), never met these men IRL before, strange city/cities, under age/limited options, etc.

5) PHONE: We know she left her ipad at home, did she take a phone? Was it used since she left? Last ping location?

6) NEXT: After more than a month it seems the investigation is picking up and actions are now happening quickly (arrests). I hope we will hear soon that Alisa has been found safe.

MOO

'Further identification identified Samuel Mitchell, of Herriman. He was arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor, the police department said.

Both men were booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.'

It is shocking - but at the same time it sadly doesn't surprise me that a 15 year old would know about these things, due to how much p*rn kids are exposed to these days.

Here's a breakdown on the three dirt bags and their statuses:

1) Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, from Miami - NOT IN CUSTODY
- Charged last week with two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and three counts of criminal solicitation
- Police detailed in affidavits the disturbing messages between Alisa and Menard dating back to January 17.
- Discussed plans to meet Alisa in Las Vegas while he was there on a business trip, and from there fly to Los Angeles, then his home in Miami.
- Police don't believe Alisa actually ever met Menard
- Police seized his phone at his home in Miami on April 30
- South Jordan Police, which is leading the case, told DailyMail.com that Menard was not on the run, but refused to say why he wasn't in custody, despite a no-bail warrant being filed by the Utah Attorney General.

2) William Taylor Glines, 37, from Texas City, Texas - IN CUSTODY
- Arrested in Texas City on May 8 and remains in custody charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation.
- He was also charged by police in Texas with possessing more than 50 child sexual abuse images or videos. He is yet to enter a plea.
- The probable cause affidavit detailed disturbing conversations between Glines and Alisa, including how he allegedly convinced he to send nude photos and videos.

3) Samuel Mitchell, 41, from Herriman, Utah (only streets away from Alisa's home in South Jordan), is now under investigation. NOT IN CUSTODY
- Police allegedly found inappropriate messages between the pair on Alisa's iPad, exchanged through Discord and Snapchat, and filed for a search warrant. No charges filed at this time.
-Alisa asked Mitchell to 'kidnap' her while she was on a family ski trip, and revealed she was running away from home two days before she went missing.
- Mitchell 'got sick' and canceled plans to meet with Alisa.

So relieved these creeps are both in custody.. Where are you Alisa?

To me, the one from Utah would be the stand out as far as opportunity. Also, once she had a specified "place" (LV), she could have told either of the others, that she was planning to go to LV and whoever showed up, showed up? Also, I'm sure there are some predators who just want the CSAM (or don't have the resources to travel for a meet up?) and there are others who actually want to physically abuse children.

Officers responded to Mitchell’s home at xxxx Drive in Herriman on May 28. They spoke with Mitchell, who said he knew why police were there. Authorities said Mitchell told them he had met a girl online who was upset with her parents and had started cutting herself. He added that she messaged him again saying she was running away and asked him not to contact her.

Mitchell said the girl “was excited about running away and asked if she could run away with him.” He added that he thought it was “a fantasy thing” and said, “Oh yeah, it’d be kind of fun.”

An earlier review of P’s iPad revealed sexually explicit conversations between her and Mitchell on the Discord app. However, officers did not find any Child Sexual Abuse Material in the messages, and the conversations suggested the two had never met in person.

Details released on arrest of Herriman man in connection with Alisa Petrov disappearance

the BBM is concerning. Not sure why AP wanted to run away but there is clearly something going on with this young girl if she did indeed tell Mitchell the she was engaged in self harming behavior. :(

All three men are in custody.

According to a news release issued late Wednesday night by the South Jordan Police Department, Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, from Miami, Florida, "self-surrendered to the South Jordan Police Department for the following charges: aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation.

A second man sought in the case, Herriman resident, Samuel Mitchell, 41, has also been arrested and booked on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
A third suspect, William Taylor Glines, 37, is already in custody, after being nabbed by police in Texas on May 9.

All three men are in custody.

Grateful for the swift work by LE here. Arrest them all, find Alisa, and hopefully they will be able to find and help other children being targeted now that they know this is occurring on Discord.

I work in a high school and the fact that a 15-year-old girl was involved in these types of conversations surprises me not at all. At this age, they have adult thoughts and think they are adults, but only in hindsight do we realize just how young we were at that age.
