GUILTY UT - Megan Huntsman charged in deaths of 7 newborns, Pleasant Grove, 1996-2006

Definitely big news here. I was so sick and disgusted last night I couldn't comment much.

Anyways, I was reading the comments at KSL and people that know her through grocery shopping at her work and such, state she never looked pregnant. That she looked like she gained a little weight. I think she hid her pregnancies from everyone, including her husband. Might be hard to do, but doable. Loose clothing, not being intimate, not letting anyone see you naked.

Another poster stated that one of the surviving pregnancies was not discovered until the end. So it makes me wonder if the surviving children survived because she was discovered pregnant. KWIM? Otherwise they would have ended up deceased. You can't control where you are at when your water breaks.....

Husband never asked about babies? He never cleaned his garage? No one smelled anything decomposing? Why did she leave them & not take them when she moved?

I heard on a news report (I have no link) that other relatives lived in the house and took care of the girls. Grandparents maybe? That dad was in prison for a couple of years and after that never came back home. He was cleaning out the garage in preparation of moving back into the home this summer.

I'm thinking she may have been kicked out of the house suddenly in 2011 and not allowed to return to get rid of the bodies.

ETA: she evidently had/has a severe substance abuse problem. It would make since to me that the grams kicked her out and moved in to the home to take care of the kids. I think they also own that house.

The fact that a mother killed her newborns sadly doesn't shock me anymore and I don't even bother to ask why. There is no reasoning.

With that being said my only questions here is what woman would in her right mind would give birth 7 freaking times alone. I'm sorry but giving birth is so painful how didn't anyone like her husband hear her or anything over the years. Or I mean I would be scared if I was alone giving birth. I could see how it may happen once to a scared teen girl. But a grown woman 7 times?

And also does this make her a serial killer? I mean IMO she obviously had some sick addiction to this because she was a woman. She was married. She had older children. She new how to avoid getting pregnant. I mean we're not talking about a teen girl who was scared of her parents here. This is just nuts.

A judge has set a $6 million bail for a Utah woman accused of killing babies she gave birth to over 10 years. http://bit.ly/QlJA4n

I wonder how they got the timeline of 1999 to 2006? The following article says that the babies were in various stages of decomposition and that the family members noticed a pungent smell from a box and opened it. Sorry about being graphic, but wouldn't the bodies be pretty much just skeletons if they had been there between 8 and 15 years?

This article has some additional details:

From other reports it sounds like the husband went to prison in 2006 and was sentenced to 9 years. Apparently he was released recently and was getting ready to move back into the house this summer.

I hope that she isn't already pregnant again.

I have a feeling she's going to say that her ex-husband wouldn't allow her to get her tubes tied or use birth control and that she was too afraid of him to say no to sex. She's going to claim abuse - count on it. She's a nasty piece of work.

I'm not letting him off the hook though. There's no way he didn't know she was pregnant at least some of those times and there's no way he wasn't suspicious about what happened to the babies. The articles state he's been in prison since 2011. I wonder if he was in and out of jail during that ten year period also.

The DNA results should be interesting.

I wonder the woman and her husband had conjugal visits while he was incarcerated. Perhaps he had no idea she was pregnant. It said he served 9 years. That would actually make some sense.

She has daughters born before and during the same years that authorities believe the deceased babies were born. I wonder if the deceased babies are all male.

It is very possible to hide a pregnancy. I once worked with a young, unmarried woman who didn't show up to work one Monday morning. It turned out she had a baby over the weekend and not one of us who worked full-time with her had noticed she was pregnant because she hid it from us (this was back in the 70's so being unwed wasn't so acceptable). We probably would never have known except that she decided to keep the baby after it was born.

my only guess...she was very isolated by a controlling husband.
Shrug...

I agree that that may very well be a factor. But I can tell you, I would escape or die trying to get away after having that happen with the first baby. It just boggles my mind how any person could go through putting 7 tiny, precious angels in boxes. I would rather be dead than have to live with that. If she had children in school she surely could have got one of them to reach out for her. And she had to be alone at some point in time. If abuse is her defense, I do feel awful that she was subjected to this, but at some point, as a mother it comes down to you to protect your children and yourself.

According to the first article that was linked to in this form a neighbor is quoted as saying that she never looked pregent when they saw her during those years. She may be one of those that carries a baby that doesn't show to much or be heavier set... or like one of those mom's on the show "I didn't know I was pregnant"

She gave birth to all these babies without any assistance?? Nobody knew about the pregnancies and the births?? How can that be?

This story is incredible as well as horrible.

I found her facebook, pic of her 3 girls on profile pic. Very few of her facebook friends have her added as a friend that I have seen. A couple has. 1she worked with at Smith food/bake store. Maybe they unfriended her after this news broke.

This is only a theory, hubby had a vascemony(sp), she was having affairs. She had to hide affair(s). Evil horrid being.

Poor little innocent babys.

Definitely more to this story than is being reported. So many unanswered questions. Why keep the three daughters and kill the other seven babies? As somebody else mentioned, were all the other babies boys?

Another possibility, are the deaths drug related? This article says that the husband was plead guilty "to two counts of possessing chemicals intended to be used in manufacturing methamphetamine." http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/13/woman-arrested-7-dead-babies/7681445/

Maybe the mother is an addict and gave birth to the three girl during periods of being "clean" but the other babies were all born when she was using. Could murdering those babies been a sick way of hiding her drug use?

Like others have questioned, how she could have hidden 7 pregnancies? Also, how could she give birth to seven babies alone? I can't imagine even having one baby with nobody there to help. Did somebody help with the deliveries? With a husband and three children what are the chances of her going into, and through, labor 7 times when nobody was around?

Also in that same article, it says that Huntsman moved out of the house several years ago and left the three girls living there alone. It has been reported that the girls are now 22, 20 and 14. If their mother moved out several years ago, who was taking care of those kids?

This is all just odd.

Edit to add, this article says she moved out of the house in 2011. Apparently the house is owned by the husband's family and possibly the grandparents might have been living there with the girls. http://abcnews.go.com/US/babies-found-dead-utah-woman-arrested-murder-counts/story?id=23311067

This answers a few questions, brought over for those of us that read backwards

from a news story:

"...strangled or suffocated them shortly after they were born."

This depth of evil...incomprehensible.
