I do see a resemblance between the two women, and similar eyeglasses too. I think there have been some cases where DNA did not automatically provide a match through CODIS. I can't think of any particular one right now though, but I seem to recall 2 or 3. Or if the DNA is at the local level but not entered into CODIS then they would not be run against each other. If someone is comfortable contacting LE in charge of these cases it might be something to look into.

Don't give up. You are an excellent sleuther!

Here's to our Xmas tree lady!

They changed the info about the scar on JG to "scar on abdomen" from "c section scar".... I wish she would've been our AJD. We are coming up on 17 years now.

Astridxx, so good to see your post. I've been thinking of our Christmas tree lady too.

In 2 days, our dear Jane Doe, 17 years ago, packed up for the last time and made her way to a cemetery, to join the dead. It still breaks my heart.

Hope you're well roses! Happy holidays! :)

Aw, don't give up. This is the normal way these cases go. We find somebody we think is perfect, it turns out not to be a match, and we go look for somebody else. And in many cases, we eventually find them. It's discouraging for sure but when somebody on the team finally does find somebody, it's such a good feeling to know they're finally going home. You do great work and we need you!

The glasses on Arlene are similar, but not the same. Arlene's glasses are a deep red/rose color; JD's are clear/gold. Also, Arlene's have drop temples like these: https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/...wsDlVd9Es69Epz3FONhAuOP9wK9p7uuXteshKUveme73Q whereas JD's have an ornate large metal connector from the front of the frame to where the side of the temple starts. I really think the glasses, other than the fact that they were worn, are kind of a red herring here. They may look distinctive now, but that style was very popular in the late 80s and early 90s, and many older women still wear them -- similar ones are still available for women who don't like change. I wouldn't judge on glasses style. It would be nice to know what the prescription was in the glasses -- reading, distance, or no-line bifocal? Hyperopic or myopic? Strong or weak? That would tell you if you were looking for someone who wore glasses constantly or only sometimes, like to read or drive. And would be very simple to determine -- any optician or optometrist could tell you in under a minute.

Astridxx, happy holidays to you too!

I know we have discussed this before, but what if she had a loved one at that cemetary?
Did the location of her body or situation of her body provide any indicators?
Maybe a child there from many years ago? A spouse?
I keep thinking of the Mel brooks comedy tape. It must have been "their" favorite. That and Christmas. I think our Christmas tree lady missed someone so much she decided to join them.

I can make a stop by the cemetery soon and check out the graves that were there 1996 or earlier. First I will check out Babyland (where she was found).... if that turns up nothing then I'll try other sections. She could have had a loved one there but chose the mausoleum to hide herself from passers by.

RIP dear, sweet Christmas Jane Doe.... you're not forgotten.

LE has said repeatedly that there was no known connection to any of the graves in the area where she was found -- but it never hurts to double check. So many things are so easily overlooked, or said once and then repeated with the force of gospel without any real evidence behind them.

I need to go back through here and compile a list of who we've looked at and whether there are any possibles we didn't follow up on.

I didn't see Shirley Leona Sprang mentioned on here when I did a search. The date of last contact is off by one day but the details and pics on namus were interesting. There is also a pic on google images of a woman with similar glasses if you search Shirley's name. I'm on my phone so I can't (aka don't know how to) post Shirley's info.
Oops I see Shirley was mentioned a page or so ago. That didn't come up on my search. I'm wondering what the contact was with the law. Maybe she gave someone $50 to make a call to throw the police off her trail? She certainly did go to a few lengths to cover her identity.
I have a 9.5 inch scar from a hysterectomy. I doubt it would be distinguishable from a c-section scar.

I have yet to stop by the graveyard. I promise I'll make it out there -- I've been so busy at work.

Anyway, there's a map of FFX Co. unnatural deaths (so ppl who died from car accidents, electrocution, suicide, etc.). I was surprised to see our dear Annandale JD wasn't on their map. I emailed the moderator with the deets and he put her on the map.

Maybe, hopefully, those who are just as morbidly curious as I am will see her info and ID her...

I was wondering -- maybe she lost all of her family in a freak accident or car accident somewhere in the metro area? It is entirely possible she was either an only child or the last surviving child; it's also entirely possible she had only one child (or if she had others they passed early) and that child (and maybe their child/ren?) died in an accident... IDK I'm grasping for straws here... I'll figure out a way to research burials in that cemetery around the date she was found...

I wonder if she was a military widow. I notice the army navy country club is near by.

This case is intriguing...why would she want to die so anonymously?

She didn't want to bother anyone.
She even put plastic down so she wouldn't leave a mess and left money for the expense of dealing with her earthly remains.
Someone who didn't want to be a burden.
The Christmas tree is so heartbreaking.....
