Calliope, my frustration is not with you, or anyone posting here. It is regarding the case.

I felt helpless learning what we did about the circumstances which allowed Aveion to be returned to his mother and step father. I had hope the 'loop holes' or whatever weaknesses exist within the CPS system would be an even greater motivation with the investigation to ensure the strongest conviction possible. The more anyone from the Roanoke PD open their mouths and speak to the press the greater and greater my concerns with their ineptness and the stronger the feeling of helpness with regards to Aveions case gets.

While history can not be changed for Aveion, one would think......... that it is a MUST to ensure this case is handled with as much due diligence as possible to ensure no other child falls through loop holes. A weak conviction is not going to do squat to get any necessary changes that need to be made within the other powers to be.

I have more confidence the Chicago Cubs will win the world series the next 5 years in a row than I do in Roanoke PD's ability to ensure maximum justice in this case.

Oh good heavens, we are tired of all this snow!!! Poor little Aveion can't even get a proper memorial service. Well, hopefully the snow will end at some point and this little angel can be honored with the beautiful memorial service he so deserves.

January 19th Aveion was still missing, dead, but missing.
Aveion is no longer missing and today is February 2nd.
Aveion is still listed as a missing person at Roanoke Police Departments web site.
'nuff said.

He is also still listed at NCMEC.

I think it is because they have not "100% confirmed" that the remains found are Aveion. I think they need that confirmation, just because of that minute chance that it could be another child.

Not that it is really needed in Aveion's case, because they know what happened. But I assume that a "rule" about keeping them listed is in place for other, more ambiguous cases.

Thank goodness they found him before 3 foot of snow was piled on top of whatever godforsaken stuff was already on top of him.

My heart hurts still. He needs to be identified, laid to rest with love and respect and everyone who is responsible in ANY way held accountable.

Thank you. I don't think I have noticed previously when a child is removed from NCMEC, just that the pictures disappear.

I can't say why this case has effected me as it has. I don't have pms, but I cried my eyes out again today. I just sobbed earlier regarding this little guy. Aveion was no less worthy than any other missing child, but he didn't seem to get as much attention as I was expecting. I know HLN mentioned the case, but did Nancy Grace ever so much as let this childs name come across her lips? A bit of a vent. I am so sick of the blonde haired blue eyed 'pretty people' getting so much more attention. Why is it that non caucasian cases get so much less attention? It's sad, because I am getting, how do I say this, less and less interested in following cases like Caylee's, Gabriels, because imo, they have enough 'support' and interested parties. It's the little guy, the underdog like Aveion that my heart bleeds the most for.

OT- Wow 31" of snow? I didn't even know Virginia normally got snow. Does it?
and on that note, the last time we had that much snow 25-30 miles west of Chicago in my area was 1979. I get more tired of the 2-5" all the time, nothing ever closes for that around here. I would love to have a snow day with a big storm at my sons age (1st grade/7) He and I could have a blast out there making snow men etc. The only two big storms in my lifetime were 67' which I was too young to remember and 79. both times in the 20" range.

Well...guess I'm going to have to update... Apparently what my daughter heard from a supposed meterologist isn't quite true...

According to WSLS we're supposed to have ice on Fri evening and then snow on Sat. Their meterologist is saying 4 to 8 inches...and that this 30 inch snow is a rumor.

So my bad for posting this without confirming! Sorry!

A search warrant filed today says the toddler's stepfather, Brandon Lockett, has made statements about a person who received Aveion's body for disposal.

A search warrant filed today in Roanoke City Circuit Court says the toddler's stepfather, Brandon Lockett, has made statements about a person who received Aveion's body for disposal. Lockett also provided a cell phone number.

Someone who uses that cell phone number has also used an e-mail address that police discovered on a computer seized from Lockett's home, the search warrant says.

Police are seeking to search the e-mail account and hope that what they might find will either "confirm or dispel" Lockett's statements, identify anyone else involved, and reveal communication about Aveion Lewis, according to the document.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the actual motive is to dispel BL's statements...I've got to believe that they aren't actually buying ANY of the crap he's selling and are taking every available opportunity to prove he's a lying, self-serving and that by doing so, they open the door to the fact that his lies are intended primarily to cover up ML's involvement. I don't think the "someone" referred to is ML; I think "someone" doesn't exist, but BL wants LE to think that there is a "someone" b/c then there is an explanation for disposing of Aveion's body that doesn't include ML. I mean, without a mysterious "someone else" who came and got the body on Thursday and dumped it in some random trash that would still end up with the Jamestown trash from Wednesday, there is no way that ML isn't involved. (Does that make any sense? Hope I'm explaining my thoughts right.) I don't think that LE believes his stupid story, but I'm hoping they're giving him enough rope to hang himself AND we-know-who by giving false info that can be disproven.

What the article leaves out is that she "concealed" the (premature) baby for four days in a gym bag in the closest with ZERO care (zero, none, zilch, umbilical cord still attached, no diaper, no food, chemical burns on his tiny body from urine and meconium that was rotting through his skin) and had concealed her pregnancy, too. Child neglect? I think not. Attempted murder? Yep! But did our stellar CA prosecute her for attempted murder? Nope. To hard to "prove" she intended for the baby to die. This wasn't a poor or uneducated woman, either. This was a college senior from a middle class family. :furious: Two and a half years? Are you kidding me? This woman has PLENTY of reproductive years awaiting her when she gets out.

Well the rumor is going around like wildfire. I called someone a bit ago and they were all excited, "HEY! WE'RE GETTING 30 INCHES OF SNOW!!!!"

Now this is a bit confusing. The first report sounds like a third party has claimed they heard BL say that; the second could be interpreted that BL himself gave that statement to police.

Last Wednesday, searchers found the body of a child in a Roanoke County landfill.

The child's body still has not been officially identified.

A search warrant from last week shows the baby's body was found wrapped in plastic and tape.

In previous searches police seized computers, cell phones, plastic bags and duct tape.

While police aren't identifying the baby at this point, according to the search warrant the body found was that of an African-American baby.

My bet is that there is no second person.

Aveion was found in a landfill, by searching in a specific area. The area, most likely, was determined by when the trash was picked up from that particular location. If he was dumped in another dumpster in another location, they would not have found him because this info is just now coming to light.

Unless this "second person" received Aveion's body for disposal at the Ls, and then just disposed of him right there, this is very unlikely, IMO.

I don't believe for one minute there was a 2nd person either - other than ML. I don't believe that there was an 'outsider'.

What I was saying is it possible he could have set up 2 accounts to make it look like 2 people (not that there really was) - 1 being him and the other whoever he dreamed up...just like the alleged kidnappers...
