Haven't been on here in a few weeks and wanted to see if there were any updates. Maybe I missed it, but what's the reason his body hasn't been released yet?

No news since Feb. 7th, 2010. What does that mean? Surely the forensics have been completed? Why hasn't the mother been arrested? And if they are not going to arrest her, why haven't they said why they believe she was not involved? Given the timeline, it is impossible for me to believe she did not know what was going on.

I agree. Not a word since the 7th. All that I have seen regarding the mother is that she was not arrested, but that was all early on. Perhaps they are still working on a case against her? Maybe LE is working with her to share what she knows? Which, imo, is a day late a dollar short if she wasn't already cooperating while the search was on for Aveion.

I just went and checked again for any new news on Aveion. Still nothing. Not even information on when the memorial service will be rescheduled or if the family wishes for it to be private.

This poor child lay in a landfill for what, close to two weeks before he was found and now nothing. What the heck is happening in VA? Is it a child found, step dad is sitting in the county jail next news story?

I am so terribly disappointed the development on this story has flatlined.

I haven't, nor will I ever forget you Aveion. :hug: sent to heaven.

There has to be a middle ground here. A friend's ex turned her in three times to CPS with bogus complaints, one being she had no food in the home (her frig and cabinets were fully stocked, btw). Each time she was frantic, worrying they would take her little girl away. Finally, the visits stopped when it became apparent there was no basis for the complaints; I suspect he was warned about harassing her through their agency.

Aveion Lewis' family prepares to say goodbye to the Roanoke toddler

A memorial service for a Roanoke toddler has been rescheduled.

The family of Aveion Lewis says the service to celebrate the toddler's life will be held on Saturday, March 13 at the St. Matthew Word of Life church.

Bad weather forced them to cancel multiple other weekends.

Aveion's aunt tells News7, the medical examiner turned the body over to the family more than a week ago and they will bury him in a private service.

The two-year-old was reported missing in mid-January, days later his step-father, Brandon Lockett, admitted he had a hand in the child's death.

Lockett could face more charges when the Roanoke Grand Jury meets on Monday.

A grand jury has indicted both Aveion Lewis' mother Morgan Lockett and his step father, Brandon Lockett in the toddler's death.

The mother and step-father of slain toddler Aveion Lewis were indicted today on charges of murder and child abuse, according to court records.

Brandon Lockett, 24, and Morgan Lockett, 23, also were charged in the grand jury's indictment with child neglect and cruelty in the death of Aveion, 2. The child's bound body was found wrapped in a bag in Smith Gap Landfill in Western Roanoke County nearly two weeks after the couple reported the boy missing on Jan. 14.

The indictment is the first public charge that Morgan Lockett, Avion's mother, was involved in the child's death.

Police launched an intense search for the child after the abduction report and, after they said Brandon Lockett's shifting stories led them to believe Aveion was dead, declared the abduction story a hoax. Brandon Lockett was charged earlier with felony child neglect, improper disposal of a body and obstruction of justice. He is being held at the Roanoke City Jail.

There just aren't words for what these two have done.

I'm so very glad that she will finally get hers. I hope they put her in gen pop and let the other's have their way with her.

I can't exactly explain why Aveion's story has touched me in the way that it did. I myself don't have any children, only a niece and a nephew. But they are the same ages as Aveion and his sister. I see the bond that my niece and nephew have, and they are best friends. If one of them comes to stay with me, or their grandparents over night, one is heartbroken that the other one has gone. They'll ask when the other is coming back, and get a sad look when you tell them tomorrow or the next day.

My biggest concern is for Aveion's sister now. Is she ok? Does her tiny heart hurt now because Aveion hasn't come back? Does she know what "Mommy" and Brandon did? Worst of all... did she see it?

My prayers are with you darling... just as they are with your brother up in heaven.

I am thrilled with today's indictments.

Justice will be served for little Aveion.
I just hope his sister is given to someone that will get her the help she may need and raise her with love and kindness.

We all knew mom had her hand in his death. I am glad LE kept it quiet, allowed Aveion to be laid to rest and took it to the grand jury.

I hope they both rot in h#ll myself.

Now the momster will NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND Avieon's services. I feel so much relief about this - I just could not stand the thought that she would be allowed to be there and fake and everything like she didn't know what happened.

Thank you Lord for insuring that this woman can no longer disrespect Avieon as she has done in the past.

Rest Avieon - I think you must have lots of new friends up there. Lady Justice is looking over things down here on earth.
