Am I paranoid, or does anyone else think the school district WANTED this to happen, if not to Abby, then to somebody?
This is not the first time I have heard this perspective, nor are you the only person to express it. I don’t understand it all. I would be grateful if you, or anyone who sees it this way, would actually explain the reasoning behind it.

I can't imagine why a school would want a problematic student to harm a teacher, or another student, but stranger things have happened, I guess.

So…
you “think the school district WANTED this to happen, if not to Abby, then to somebody?”
but
you “can't imagine why a school would want a problematic student to harm a teacher, or another student…”
I’m more perplexed by this perspective, than I was before.

Newport News Circuit Court Judge Matthew Hoffman said Friday that he will hold a hearing on the workers’ compensation matter in late October. Matters before the judge on Friday mostly involved the process of discovery, an early phase of a lawsuit where parties share evidence.

ut Kevin Biniazan, an attorney for Zwerner, pointed to other cases in the state in which discovery was allowed to proceed. Jeffrey Breit, another attorney for Zwerner, also said it was important to interview teachers before the new school year began.

Breit told reporters after the hearing that the legal team had no intention of interviewing any children before the workers’ compensation matter is resolved, while they may only seek to talk to one or two students if the case goes to trial.

Since then, attorneys for the school administrators and school board filed a motion to dismiss Zwerner's lawsuit, or a "Plea in Bar," saying Zwerner's "workplace injuries" should be covered by worker's compensation.

13News Now also learned the attorney representing Dr. Parker filed a separate motion to dismiss Zwerner's lawsuit, making similar arguments.

Zwerner's attorneys said they've been struggling for months to get the proper documents and eyewitness information to move forward in their case.

"We've asked for the identity of all first-grade teachers of Newport News," Biniazan explained. "We want to know whether the Newport News school teachers, that is first-grade teachers, think it's an actual danger of their job to be shot by a 6-year-old."

However, there are still some objections by the school division regarding document and interview requests separate from the argument in court. The attorneys on both sides are scheduled to go through each objection in court on August 9.

Judge rules in favor of Abby Zwerner's attorneys over document requests

BBM... I hope no teachers fear being truthful.

All the other red flags, alarms, and warning bells that were ignored. Mom mentioned How child told her felt he ignored. child was in class without parent combined with how school officials are treating the situation now. Like cats in a litter box trying to bury scat. I know, from our previous discussion, that this is your perspective on “how?” (Eta - and why you believe this)

I’m asking “why?”, for what reason?
Why do you believe a group of people wanted to hurt/get rid of Abby? What was the motive/benefit?

Thank you for elaborating on your cryptic comments. I was puzzled and didn't understand where you were heading.

I sincerely hope that there was no conspiracy to get rid of a teacher, but I hope the possibility will be explored by Abby's legal team.

Moo…resentment. She came from a family of educators, young fresh out of school, excited, bright eyed and full of excitement to be able to teach and mold the minds of our future adults.

Moo…some folks just can’t stand a happy, full of life person. She was the newbie. They gave her a student will extremely intense needs. The child choked a teacher at the same school and was transferred out the previous year.

These leaders knew what they were doing …placing Abbey in this situation with NO support and then would NOT respond after Abbey and others begged for help.

The lack of response to the situation was malicious and intentional. Moo

I do hope and pray Abbey gets her day in court. I think many teachers have suffered under this School Board and Administration.

All my opinion

Maybe they didn't specifically want this to happen to Abby, but they wanted it to happen to SOMEONE. MHO, of course.

This is my opinion only, but it has been said that "Nurses eat their young", as well as "Teachers eat their young".

The exuberance and excitement along with the youth of a fresh new recruit may entice others to be exceptionally cruel to the newbie.

I was a victim of this in Nursing. It's known....
Thankfully, I had others nearby who stood alongside me for guidance and assistance.

Peace

ETA: I survived their attempt to watch me fail. My career soared. Their's ??....not so much.

Why would school officials WANT a teacher (or student/s) to be victims of violence? Please elaborate. Thanks.
