Local news is reporting he was sighted in Seven Springs...store clerk could not verify if the baby was with him. This area is very local to me. He could take backroads to Oak Island versus I40 but either way he would surely be there by now if that’s where he is going.

As an aside, Seven Springs and the surrounding area creeps me out. This part of the state is very rural and generally friendly but the few experiences I’ve had there were not good. In fact in 2 instances I felt I was in danger. Years ago my aunt and I got caught in a hail storm. We pulled under the shelter of what appeared to be an abandoned country store to keep the car from getting damaged. No other cars were there, windows of the building had been painted over, no signs of life. we weren’t there a solid minute before men started coming out of the building and just stood and stared us down. We took off. I looked back and there must have been 25 men standing outside the building at that point.

Second time was just a year ago. I was taking my ex to look at a rehab facility. We got lost of course but did not dare to stop and ask for directions. The few people we did see just stared as if they dared us to make a wrong move. And the “facility” was more like a sweatshop. It was incredibly hot and humid that day so I went to the car, as there was no ac anywhere at this place (very odd considering how hot our summers are). The ex whispered to me to park the car so I couldn’t get blocked in, lock the doors and leave if anyone approached the car. We made it out in one piece but we both had the impression something illegal was going on for multiple reasons. And add to that we saw not one woman or child during either of these escapades. Very, very strange place.

I say all that to say this. While this area is not a welcoming place, I feel like this man, with his history would fit right in. Hope that sweet little nugget is found safe.

Omg! This sounds like something straight out of a horror movie or "Deliverance". How scary! You have me completely convinced and I will NEVER be travelling any back roads over there EVER!

When we were leaving, my boyfriend actually said it was like something out of Deliverance. I don’t know what it is about that area but I won’t be going back!

This is frustrating. These Amber Alerts usually work pretty fast. Can’t believe she hasn’t been found yet. I’m nervous.

Yes, Seven Springs is very rural. I live in Raleigh now but grew up in Goldsboro which is about 25 minutes from Seven Springs. I'm actually back in the area this week to visit family. I hope this man is found asap. Scary.

^^Jmo/Moo/Imo/Jmho/Etc^^

I grew up in Kinston and now live near Raleigh. Small world.

Like everyone I am sure, every time I see that there is a new post on this thread, I am hoping that it is the one that says found safe.

Apologies if already posted. (I changed the step-sister's name to initials.)

As manhunt continues, authorities say abduction suspect has lengthy criminal history

It’s not the first time family members say Carl Ray Kennedy lashed out at them in anger.

“He did the same thing with me, when I was younger,” said the man’s other daughter, 16-year-old HB, of Asheboro, North Carolina.

The teenager — step-sister to Emma Grace Kennedy — said it was years ago that the father ran off with her after assaulting her mother.

This is what he does when upset, the teen said, and lately he’s been angry over losing custody of the little girl.

From same article, answer to a question we'd wondered about. He did not work at the nursing home - he was a patient.

Murphy met Carl Ray Kennedy two years ago when she was a CNA at a nursing home and he was a patient, Metzger said. He’s been on disability ever since suffering an injury on a fishing boat years ago.

Well that's a good sign that he didn't harm his older daughter.
Maybe this will also have a happy ending too.

Amber Alert search extends to Triangle after report of attempt to sell a baby :: WRAL.com

The search for a father and daughter – a registered sex offender and the 7-month-old that he abducted from Virginia – extended to the Triangle on Tuesday after a person called Durham police to report having been offered a baby for sale.

A Durham police spokesman said the caller claimed to have been approached by a man trying to sell a baby around 1:20 a.m. in the 100 block of East Woodcroft Parkway. The man described by the caller did not completely match that of Carl Ray Kennedy, but it was enough for authorities to add Durham and Wake counties to the area of their search for Emma Grace Kennedy, missing since Sunday night.

I don't like the "you'll never see her again" comment. How often have we seen angry parents (especially dads) say this and then do the very worst thing possible. I'm worried

I agree, Blef. This leaves me less than confident.

I wonder if the FBI is involved in this. I have not seen anything along that line, but he has crossed state lines with a kidnapped baby!!

He sure as hell didn't have a car seat, and saying she will never see her again is the worst case news yet. His vehicle Must Be Found Pronto!!!
