Gosh darn it! I'm going to walk out on a limb here. We can't deny the fact that HC was murdered, and her body was found about 8-miles from where KA's suitcase was found. Therefore there's no denying there is a murderer on the loose in the area. So is it at all possible that whoever killed HC had something to do with KA's disaperance, and dumped her luggage off the roadway?

Just wish they would say if she's in danger or not. I can understand just getting away and starting a new life without telling anyone shoot I've done it. Asking the public for help and then no updates that's messed up.

Yep, I know a news report said the two cases are not related, but there sure seems to be one heck of a coincidence here. Stranger is the lack of news with both cases. I hope something changes soon.

That's true, but it's also true that a lot of innocent people have been falsly accused because of the theory itself.

First, taking off to start a new life actually DOES happen, so it's not outside the possibilities.
Second, as I just said, I don't think anyone here really thinks that, but is entertaining the possibility that she did disappear to take some personal time (as unlikely as that might seem - that also happens).
Third, this isn't your normal "missing" case where friends and family come pouring out of the woodwork doing searches, offering rewards for info, hounding the media, etc. This is NOT to say her family/loved ones don't care or are hiding anything or anything else disrespectful like that. I do know there are friends and loved ones on SM that are heartbroken, desperate to hear ANYTHING from the investigation into her disappearance.
Fourth, that coupled with near silence from LE in the last 3-4 weeks leads us all to speculate in all different directions, all the possibilities, no matter how probable.

We just have very little to go on, outside of what was reported over a month ago.

Wasn't there supposed to be some reporter doing a story on her case? I thought they were on the public fb page asking for family and friends to be interviewed. What ever happened to that? I tried to get on the Help Find page but couldn't find it for some reason. Does the fb page not exist anymore???

Unfortunately, I think the public page has been deleted. I keep watching for that article but so far nothing. &#128546; I have a feeling that a lot of people have just given up. Without clear information and people staying on the media's butt, this case has already gone cold imo. This saddens me greatly.

There is very little activity other than comments about the silence/lack of news or posts from people to say they are still thinking of Katelin.

Well that's not good. I know there has been a bit of drama surrounding this whole case, but if they were still wanting people to keep an eye out for her, or whatever, you'd think they would keep the page open and public but maybe just have to have posts/comments approved before being visible. I don't know, but it's sort of telling in my opinion. I'm not saying her family doesn't care (because I'm not sure who was the admin or who stared the second page) but it does seem like there is no panic or urgency. I feel like people want her to come home, but I don't get the feeling they think she is in danger. Even her fiance, who was supposed to be the one closest to her seems to be just getting on with her life.

Yes that's true! but if that's the case, they need to close the private fb page down as well. The last thing anyone would want is to hinder an investigation!

I just figured they shut the public fb page down due to the continued bickering.

Good, I'm not crazy I was pretty sure I'd noticed last night that the public FB group called "Help Find Katelin Akens" had vanished from FB while the older "Find Katelin" group continued, and have to say that it strikes me as unusual given that many of the most active members of the now-vanished "HFKA" group were Katelin's fiancee and her family as well as Websleuths regulars, while the "Find Katelin" group has been the site of many comments and contributions from Katelin's "blood relatives."

While I could extrapolate about what this might suggest in terms of the case's resolution, I don't have any desire to contravene Websleuths' TOS--so all I can objectively say is that it seems uncommon for a SM group focusing on a missing person to disappear without notice and/or explanation and/or offering of a potential or definitive outcome of the search.

Regardless of the makeup of either group, I sincerely hope that those family, friends, in-laws, etc.--who are sincerely trying to ensure Katelin's safety have been given the information to do so or the means to pursue their search.
