VA VA - Katelin Akens, 19, Springfield, 5 Dec 2015 #2

So odd how Virginia news in my area didn't mention this case. I live between Staunton and Roanoke. You would think Roanoke stations would discuss this or at least show Katelin's picture. I only know about this because of a missing 13 year old from Blacksburg. So I went to WSLS.com and someone in comments section mentioned Katelin.

IMHO, local news stations are not working enough with each other. Virginia has to be one of the weirdest states in regards to missing and murdered women. And let's face it, Spotsylvania isn't far from this corridor of Virginia with missing women. I haven't been here since Hannah Graham. I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't know about Katelin.

I will say, our local news (WSLS) often has stories about human trafficking. They report the news is such an odd way, it makes me wonder if it's more of a problem in this area (I-81) than we know. When I say they report the news in an odd way, I mean they don't lead into stories like most stations. So they could be talking about a major story, but it comes across as very light and almost as if they are glossing over it. But in truth, it could be something that's truly going on in the region and they aren't letting us know the true gravity of the situation. Not stating that's what's going on here.

Thinking of you Katelin! Hope you're warm, and OK!! If able, reach out to someone you trust, or LE and let them know you're OK, but don't want to be 'found', and legally, you have that right! They can't tell anyone where you are, only that you're OK and don't want to be bothered. For those of us here, and your loved ones, it would be a relief to know you're OK!!!

Thinking of you Katelin! Wherever you are, I pray you're warm and OK! If you happen to read this, please notify LE that you're OK, and where you want to be. There's no crime in going off in your own destination. You aren't in any trouble for that! Police won't tell your family or anyone where you are either!!! They'll only tell them you aren't missing. Oh how I pray you're spreading your wings, and on a destiny of your own.

The silence is awful! I realize most of the area was hit with a huge snow storm lately, and searching probably wouldn't be beneficial, but I sure would love to hear something from LE or family or friends about a vigil, about two months coming up since last seen, something!!!!

I quite agree Pappa, I still have about 300 fliers left and I'm at a loss where to post anymore of them, we've covered most of the truck stops on I-95 near raleigh and approx 20 miles north and south of Raleigh. We're more than willing to go help search, but haven't seen one set up yet 😕

Maybe I won't get in trouble for this. A while back someone posted a pic showing the tattoos down her left arm. What it also showed what was an obvious baby bump as well. Does anyone else remember this? So the question I have is was that a recent pic and could it be possible that at 19 she decided to go to some kind of half way house? I don't know where the pic went but it was on here at some point.

It has been mentioned before, but I think there is a really good chance that is just her normal stomach. Mine sort of does that if I'm not standing straight and I'm "letting my guthang out".

I agree. When hubs and I drove the Blue Ridge Parkway last fall, and I left him at the motel to get food, he was all about me and my safety. He has heard too many cases from my mouth to his ears.

Katelin where are you. Hope you are safe, warm, and taken care of.

Well... hmm. It'd sure be nice if LE would issue SOME kind of update in light of what's being publicly posted on SM.

I wonder if LE doesn't have like super concrete evidence that she left of her own will, but some major event points that way, so they're in a limbo where they can't say she's for sure safe, but they don't think she has been murdered/kidnapped.

KATELIN. If you're safe, just get in contact with LE. You will not have to contact family or friends. There are many missing girls out there and everyone would love to just be sure you aren't one of them.
