You must be near me! I live in a county surrounding RVA. There hasn't been any news or talk about Katelin since December. Now we are all focused on poor Nicole Lovell.

So many awful things in VA in the last decade it seems :(

I'm near Raleigh, NC, so just a hop, skip and a jump away...I've been following Nicole's case also.

I'm hazy on the details now, we do not have a verified insider here, right? (Aka someone was posting but I'm to understand could not be verified?)

No, we don't have an insider here.

I see Amber has taken down the post from Feb. 1. I'm wondering about what is happening, just as all of you are wondering the same.

We thought we were going to have one but she was never verified so ????
Maybe there is some news? Maybe AR's post upset Katelin and she contacted someone?

My apologies about Amber's post removed .... I must have been on the wrong page!

The whole tone of AR's post suggests to me that she thinks KA is intentionally missing. (I think she probably discovered infidelity -- maybe in the context of trying to find out where KA is -- but I now get the sense that she leans towards voluntary disappearance possibly related to that infidelity.)

"With no evidence of crime, police cannot get a search warrant that will allow them to get account information for their internet or cell phone. You can point the finger at the cell phone or internet companies, but then you have to remember, they are the same companies that are keeping your information safe and away from nosy people. And you also have to remember, if you wanted to "disappear" wouldn't you be thankful that you could and no one, not even your own parents, could stop you, nor find you by that information. As an adult, you become free as a bird to do whatever you want in life, even if it means disappearing and never seeing your family again."

BBM- Did LE have warrants for Katelin's phone/internet/etc. or was the information from her sm accounts given by family/friends? Is a suitcase on the side of the road evidence of a crime? I assume it depends on who is obtaining the warrant and who is granting it, but this article makes me think that getting a search warrant on a phone is more difficult than just saying "hey, we need a warrant because something might have happened". If that's the case, then it makes me wonder if LE found more than just a suitcase. Or if they are sitting on their hands until some real evidence is found that allows them to get a warrant.

Articles in the beginning made it sound like LE was more invested in the voluntarily missing theory than foul play, but maybe that was just shoddy reporting or I read it wrong.

In the event that Katelin was voluntarily missing and SD knew her plan, would SD's word be enough? Would LE be legally obligated to let her family know she was alive and well if that was against Katelin's wishes? Would LE still be eyeballing SD until they could prove it themselves?

I just don't know what to think in this case. Too many questions, not enough answers.

But someone was paying all her bills, according to posts in the first of the threads, as she had no job. If I am paying, can I not request what my $$ has paid for?? Who that is innocent and worried about her would interfere with this process?

Is this the general thinking of those of you here? I'm so confused ....

BBM:
I do not feel that it was shoddy reporting. Several media outlets reported a quote from Captain Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office this way;

"We're hoping – and this has happened before – that she simply decided that she wasn't going to go back [to Arizona] and made other arrangements," Pearce says. "Information recovered from her social media accounts and her cellphone records shows that [that may be case]."

IMO - Katelin would not be the first fiancé to run from a relationship she saw no other way out of. Nor would she be the first fiancé to be harmed by a partner and set up to look otherwise. ALL is on the table in my opinion, BUT since LE always knows more than they say, my money is on the above quote referencing "information recovered".

To be clear, this has been much discussed here and I believe that the consensus is that the part of the quote "-and this has happened before-" is with regard to previous cases and not Katelin.

Is this the general thinking of those of you here? I'm so confused ....

I am leaning more and more in that direction…still on the fence but…:fence:

It's just that when I think about her situation I get a weird vibe that she might have felt a bit trapped/smothered. She is only 19 and yet she was engaged already and was wholly dependent upon her partner. How many 19 yr olds are being totally supported by their 'significant others' to the point of needing to use their debit card and needing them to pay their college fees?

It seems like kind of an uncomfortable situation for a 19 yr old, imo.

If you are paying bills are you buying that person's freedom?
1) if you are paying the rent you likely know who is living with you. If she is no longer living with you then what is your right to her further business?
2) If you are paying for the phone then you likely know who is using the phone. Did you buy her privacy? If she is no longer using the phone then what it your right to her further business?
3) If you paid for a plane ticket then you likely know who was using the ticket. Did you buy some ownership of her? If she did not use the ticket then what is your right to her further business?

If she broke your heart then you cannot use finance as a reason to intrude in her plausible adult decision to leave you. You have every right to FEEL hurt but no right to claim ownership to her information based on finance.

Plus she had been engaged since 1/31/14 so since she was 17 she has been locked into this relationship. I had read in other places that they were life long friends.+
Having said that we must remember that sleuthing family and friends is not allowed.

All speculation since we dont know that any of this has happened;

People cheat on partners all the time.
People feel trapped in relationships and want to get out of them all the time.
People have trouble with their family and friends and want to escape all the time.

People do not drop off the face of the earth and cease all contact with everyone they know all the time.

Sorry I'm late to this but is this like a Maura Murray thing?
