I wonder if LE doesn't have like super concrete evidence that she left of her own will, but some major event points that way, so they're in a limbo where they can't say she's for sure safe, but they don't think she has been murdered/kidnapped.

KATELIN. If you're safe, just get in contact with LE. You will not have to contact family or friends. There are many missing girls out there and everyone would love to just be sure you aren't one of them.

I am kind of thinking this too. She would have had to put on one heck of a show pretending to her family how happy she was to be starting school, etc. Also, you know her GF would know if she wasn't truly happy in their relationship and were having problems. But then again people can have affairs and the other person not know at all about it. I just don't see how disappearing out of thin air would solve any problem other than just not wanting to deal with a break up. Why would she worry her whole family and put them through this? I wonder if maybe she met an acquaintance at the mall. Maybe someone she was chatting with on the internet and had planned to meet last minute at the mall. So it would be like someone she had talked to before just over the internet. And they meet at the mall and this person says, "hey I'll drive you over to the airport so you don't have to walk." But they don't take her to the airport. Of say they have some time before the fight so they decide to go somewhere else and something maybe she gets kidnapped. I do wonder sometimes if he and that other girl that was found dead are somehow linked.

I took it to mean that perhaps she uncovered info that her fiance may have been unfaithful at some time. I don't think it means she may be somewhere safe.[emoji20] jmo.

I'm not sure what I think at this point. I definitely think she could have fooled loved ones, as her family doesn't see her often, and GF may have been love blind?

On the other hand, she would have to be REALLY determined to get away and never come back (and have had help) to dump her luggage in a "staged kidnapping" type scenario, and then not come back or make contact, even over Christmas and into the new year. But I feel like usually that type of determination is spurred by impending charges of some kind, debt, or abuse. The kind of thing that most 19 year olds would not have incurred.

But again, I feel (and sincerely hope) that her family and loved ones would be pushing this harder if they didn't know she was safe. There was that inital little push where missing flyers were put on pizza boxes and flyers distributed, a few media articles in the very beginning, and then that was it. Nothing. Not even a public missing persons facebook (IMO the easiest of all possible efforts).

It's appears to me everyone just wants to forget about Katelin. That makes me question why. I flip flop from something sinister to something innocent as starting over. I just don't see any SM or news with loved ones pleading. Speaks volumes. Imo. Let's someone know your ok Katelin.

There are a few facebook pages that never really got rolling and have few members - there was previously an active public group, but it appears to have been removed again. There is also a closed group with a large number of members.

There was that inital little push where missing flyers were put on pizza boxes and flyers distributed, a few media articles in the very beginning, and then that was it. Nothing. Not even a public missing persons facebook (IMO the easiest of all possible efforts).

My daughters and I are still distributing fliers via pizza boxes and truck stops, but we're 2 hrs south of where she went missing, I don't know how much help we've been but they are posted along I-95 which is the major interstate that was the nearest to where she went missing.

I've wondered if katelin got caught up in something and doesn't want her family hurt because of it... And that is why she might disappear... in her mind to protect them from the consequences of something she got involved in... Just a thought that keeps coming to me.

That is awesome! Anything is helpful! On the Facebook page that in was taken down again, they had mentioned that people were allowed to search, but I didn't see anything about one happening. If anyone hears of one let me know. I'm not local, but in the state not too far away.

I see what you're saying, but to me it doesn't seem logical. She hadn't been in VA for a year and she wasn't there on a very long visit. IMOO, I seriously doubt she's missing voluntarily. The reason I say this is that it's weird to me that her bag would have been found so near to where she had been visiting. Why would you go back toward where you are running from to dump your things, if that was the case? It's just not logical to me. Plus, LE has stated that there is no proof she was ever at the mall, the metro station or airport. She is not on camera anywhere.

I wonder if Katelin could be the kind of person who doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings so she kind of tells people what they want to hear. Maybe telling people in Arizona she was excited for school and living with AR, then possibly telling people in VA that she really didn't want to go back and wanted to stay with family. If she was feeling pressured (intentional or self imposed) by both sides, maybe she didn't know how to get out of the situation and arranged a disappearance. I'm not really buying this story myself, I just soooo want her to be okay somewhere!

I thought about this too unless she truly just thought no one cared enough to even look much for her. In which case she may have just been littering in some sort of ceremonial, "out with the old life" sort of gesture. I don't know...so far (IMO) the family isn't expressing much concern (if any) on social media. I'm sure there is a LOT the public isn't privy to that may be why they aren't as alarmed as some of us who've never met her.

Yes, but she grew up in VA. We don't know that she hasn't been communicating with her old friends, old boyfriends, whoever. It's crazy how these kids communicate with people all over the US and don't know them but for some reason thinks it's a good idea to meet up with them. Also, what if the family has heard something from Katelin on the side and are keeping hush hush because she doesn't want to be found so the family aren't pushing on SM and maybe hoping that it would die down.

You must be near me! I live in a county surrounding RVA. There hasn't been any news or talk about Katelin since December. Now we are all focused on poor Nicole Lovell.
