No. Can we say "ratings"? The wording is ambiguous .. "now being called a person of interest ...". By whom, Crime Watch Daily or Springfield PD?

Until such time as LE officially names a POI or MSM provides their source or, at the very least, attributes a direct quote to a LEO spokesperson, nobody has been officially classified as a POI.

ok, they say in the show that they discussed the case with police, and they say the police called him a person of interest, that isnt ambiguous at all to me.

if the same wording was said on CNN would it then be acceptable? what if it appears in a newspaper local to the case? the same wording, is it then legit?

not being difficult, just trying to clarify the rules. i wouldnt think chris hansen would let a show go to air making a direct claim that is false about what police have said about an active investigation.

maybe im naive.

Unfortunately, this is heading exactly where I thought it would. Wish LE had searched the stepdads house and land when they did his vehicles, etc. If you're innocent, why wouldn't you give LE your unlock code? Or take a poly?
IMO, something happened not long after she was dropped off and she's somewhere on that property.

wild night of drinking the night before


stepfather is POI according to show


she didnt trust her stepfather, was nervous around him


mother had to work the day katelin was going to the airport so she asked the stepfather


stepfather had to work at 3 so he was going to drop her off early


1:52 she texts asking to be dropped off at springfield mall railway station


she had not been on that train line since she was about 6 or 7


also @ 1:52(?) stepfather says he dropped her at the airport


2:00 katelin texts saying she is at the airport and her battery is dying so she wont be texting for a while


11:56 katelin texts amber - not coming back, something came up, will let you know when i get a new flight, wont be able to text for a bit


7:15 texts mom - staying with friend, need some time alone

the suitcase is a very typical looking rectangular blue carry on suitcase

missing from the suitcase clothes, phone, high school diploma


in suitcase, wallet with cash, debit cards, plane ticket

So...as I read through while doing dinner...did this air?

This case is so incredibly sad. I'm glad that there's renewed attention. Hopefully the outside scrutiny will shake something free or cause someone to come forward. This case, more than others, leaves me feeling perplexed and helpless. Genuinely sad because I wish that I could do more for sweet Katelyn.

one page back there are 3 videos, it is the entire segment they did, answers to all your questions so far are in further posts that i made.

one point of clarification - its not clear to me if there were two different nights of drinking and partying, or if it was just one night, i think the information they gave was conflicting or not entirely clear.

but regardless, there was at least one night, and katelyn reported that she felt that two people took advantage of her when she was drunk, an old female friend and that girls boyfriend..

i suppose i should have addressed this point before now but - since the police have still not used his name publicly, can we use his name here since he has been named a POI?

please nobody use his name until this is cleared up.

this new info does make it more understandable how they could have thought early on that she did just take off for a while, despondent over the incident and feeling guilty and like she cheated she couldnt go back and face amber... those texts do present evidence that she may have run off. but there are way too many other things we know now that cant be explained if that was what happened.

So people blamed Amber but not Katelins ex and friend that took advantage of her while getting her drunk?

Didn't Katelin ask a friend for a ride to the airport but they couldn't do it. So stepdad had to.

Also. How is stepdad involved in this. If Katelin was violated by friends and not him.

They should be investigated for rape, for sure. But she was seen in the days after the possible rape. So they probably did not make her disappear.
