GUILTY VA - Khaleesi Hope Cuthriell 3, (deceased, still missing) & Candi Jo Royer 41 (located), Waynesboro, 1 Feb 2021 *Arrests*

I am in recovery and some how managed to take my birth control and thankfully never found myself loaded and knocked up. I don't know if I'd call that scientific proof of birth control be more or less effective. But I would like to add my two cents: I do have a little experience and have spent many years where most of my friends were addicts in active addiction. Many of these junkie friends were junkie parents. Some were good parents, that is when they were attentive. All were neglectful, how could they not be. Some, not many were very neglectful. Should any active addict have children, I don't think so. There were times I probably shouldn't have had custody of my dogs. But the evil that causes a person to do evil things to children isn't because that person is on drugs. Most likely those people are on drugs due to the evil that resides in them. Addiction sucks, it's hell and sure I could have choose not to party in highschool, but by the time I was doing what junkies do I was way past choosing. I guess what I'm saying here is not all addicts kill kids. Most of them are amazing human beings. Addiction sucks.

Thanks for the insight. I was just trying to give a possible explanation as to why they continue to have kids, but your are exactly correct. Not all addicts kill kids because of drugs. Often people do turn to drugs to escape. I was just kind of thinking out loud i suppose as well. Like I said I have no idea about drugs affecting birth control just a thought that popped in my head. I just hope this girl is found safe and has a better second half of life or that she is finally free from abuse and neglect and that her mother gets closure of some form. She will forever be beating herself up for putting her with CR I am sure no matter the outcome.

Yes, that is worrisome for sure, that Candi claims K was taken to a family member. I'd really like to know if she herself lied, claiming to have taken her there---or if it is as you suggested.

Bringing in a 3 yr old could have caused tension, but they already had their own 3 yr old at home. So I assume it was just more work for Candi, but not all that much different for TB, then it was before K was added to the mix. IDK.

It sounds from the list of outstanding crimes, that TB had a long criminal history. I bet they were having problems before she took in K to the family. He seems like a real piece of work, regardless. JMO

IF she was with family, Khalessi, I mean, the authorities would most likely know that by now.

Travis Brown and Candi Royer arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the disappearance of 3-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell | WFXRtv

Two people in connection with the disappearance of three-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell are now in custody in Pennsylvania.

Deputies say with the help of Pennsylvania State Police and the United States Marshall’s Service — Travis Brown and Candi Royer were tracked down to an inn in the Borough of South Greensburg, Pa. which is near Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania police say the two were located at the Knights Inn at 1215 South Main Street on Sunday, Sept. 12. The two went peacefully into custody.

The two are currently being held in the Westmoreland County Prison where they are waiting for a court hearing and to be extradited back to Virginia.

Yes, and you should have seen that arrest on the news.

BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER HERE, AM I THE ONLY ONE WONDERING WHY CPS DIDN'T TAKE THIS CHILD?

One theory I have is because the child’s mother was assisted by social services to establish a written diversionary agreement (before going to jail).

Not that I believe it was ok NOT to check on the child regularly

I know Virginia, and I'm familiar with CPS tactics around the country. I cannot believe they did not take this child from her mother. As far as Candi saying she took the child to one of Amanda's family members, where were her family members when she went to jail? Why didn't one of them take the child then? IF family was willing to take her, and alive and well to take her, why wasn't she taken by family then instead of these losers?

Going out on a limb here, but she may have burned her bridges with family members? Did they even know she had this sweet baby?

It looks like she primarily lived in Virginia, but in at least three other States.

The sister said they hadn't spoken in over a decade and she was estranged from the entire family. So the family may not have known about this beautiful baby girl. I bet they would have taken her in if they had been given the chance==but I wonder if she didn't want to give her family the satisfaction. It sounds like there was a lot of friction between them all.

From the article:

"I want to be clean, I want to be a good mother."

That's what Amanda G. Arey told a judge last year during a probable cause hearing in March 2020. "I don't want my kid to go through what I've gone through."

Arey's struggles with methamphetamine had landed her in court again.

Several months later, days before being locked up at Middle River Regional Jail, the Staunton woman reportedly gave her child, 3-year-old Khaleesi Cuthriell, to Candi Jo Royer of Waynesboro.

In November, Royer, 41, posted on her Facebook page about a "new addition to our family" as pictures of Khaleesi were shown.

Now, authorities are desperately searching for Khaleesi, who hasn't been seen since February, according to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office. Without public leads in search for Khaleesi, The News Leader took a deep look this week instead at what is documented in court files and other places about the adults who surround this case.

It's not yet clear how social services or the court were involved in the designation of a responsible adult to care for Khaleesi while her mom was going to jail. The News Leader is looking into the requirements in such a situation where a willing adult has been identified.

But for law enforcement, the whole history as it is now known equals an extremely troubling situation for the present safety of a toddler.

"We're months behind in the investigation, and I'm very concerned," Sheriff Donald Smith said Wednesday.

Pennsylvania State Police and the United States Marshals Service arrested Royer and Travis Brown, 29, on Sunday at a Knights Inn motel in South Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

Smith said the two suspects have been interviewed by investigators.
