GUILTY VT - Emily Ferlazzo, 22, Route 2, Bolton, 16 Oct 2021 *husband arrested*

How does someone confess and then plead not guilty? I didn’t even know that was an option.

It happens the majority of the time.

Because the not guilty plea at this stage (and even at trial) is seen as a place holder of sorts while you get your legal representation and defense sorted out and your lawyer figures out if the prosecution is at all willing to make any kind of plea deal to avoid a trial. Which often happens, because our legal system is not designed for every case to go on to a full trial IMO.

Hi LookingForClues!
I would like to thank you for posting the link!
In that link it states that it was a converted bus not a camper.
Last night I posted about believing that it was a converted church bus. It was being reported last night and this morning about being a camper. But I knew last night after speaking to a friend of mine there that it was a converted bus.
The bus was once a church bus from Trinity.
Of course last night I did not have a link because it was being referred to everywhere that it was a camper. Big thanks to you for posting that link
❤️❤️❤️
PS hope this post was not too long and drawn out.

You're welcome. I remembered your comment about it being a converted bus, and the photo with the article makes it very clear that's true.

Interestingly, in the photo it has a Vermont plate, yet they supposedly lived in the bus on her parents' property in NH. And police repeatedly refer to both of them as NH residents. So is the bus theirs, or did someone lend it to them to use? Clearly they have connections in Vermont, so they might be borrowing it. But I think it's important to know who owns it.

It does appear he went back to VT to dump her body pieces. He went home to NH, told his story and then went back to VT to clean out the van is my guess. He certainly couldn't leave the van there, his friend was bound to look in it eventually and find the evidence.

What's so strange is he actually lives in a part of NH where he has easy access to more remote places than in Northern Vermont. He lives near many large lakes, the White Mountains, even all the logging roads in Maine's North Woods. Why go back to Vermont and to a house that's right in town with tons of neighbors and no privacy? Maybe one of his friends has a boat and he planned to go out on Lake Champlain to dispose of her remains? The deepest part of the lake is 400 feet. Still wouldn't be my choice, the deep forest in the middle of nowhere makes more sense to me.

My personal opinion, he wasn't thinking clearly. This does not mitigate the terrible things he has done in any way, but it sounds like he was acting in a violent rage and he didn't really have a well-thought-out plan. Which is all the better because at least now her family can lay her to rest and won't have to wonder forever what he did with her.

Hi there LookingForClues!
Well my opinion is that since they lived in Essex in 2020, they purchased the church bus and the registration being done in Vermont. They moved to New Hampshire living on the property of Emily’s Mother and step-Father in the bus thinking they would keep the plates on it until they ran out instead of paying the money to register it in New Hampshire.

Hi LookingForClues,
He lived in Vermont before and had a lot of friends in Chittenden County. He worked at Body Art Tattoo shop in Burlington prior to moving.

Thanks for this info, Thora_Jay. It was obvious to me they had some kind of ties to Northern Vermont, I just hadn't read anything that gave those details.

This new VtDigger article details more of their ties to Vermont. Apparently Emily was a licensed nursing assistant; she got her VT license to practice in August 2020. This is the first I've seen about what she did for a living. We've read before that he's a tattoo artist, this article says he got his VT tattooing license in June 2011. So he has 10 years of ties to VT.

The start of this article talks about his mother's cold-case murder (Thora_Jay, you have provided links to old articles about this in previous posts). Apparently Pennsylvania authorities contacted Vermont State Police but neither is providing details of their conversations about this. VSP won't say if they questioned JF about his Mom's death.

Pennsylvania authorities probing cold case ask VSP about Bolton murder defendant

For anyone wondering, VtDigger is an excellent source for news. Many of its reporters and editors have worked in Vermont for decades. I expect they will stay on top of this story. I'm a former reporter (not in Vermont) and they are my go-to news source in Vermont.

It's been reported that according to the police affidavit, JF went to breakfast with his sister and her boyfriend after he killed Emily. What did he tell them about why she wasn't joining them? They were supposed to be celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary but she didn't want to come to breakfast? And how did he explain her absence for the rest of the day? Did he tell them the same story about her getting out of the camper and disappearing? He would still need to explain where she was between breakfast and 1 pm.

An aside: it's beyond cold-hearted to kill your wife and hours later go have breakfast with your sister and her boyfriend as if it's just another day on vacation.

Ferlazzo case prompts questions about Pennsylvania cold case

"The fatal stabbing of Ferlazzo Jr.'s stepmother in 2009 has remained an open case. Young Hee Lim-Ferlazzo, then 39 years old, was found dead inside her Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, apartment with multiple stab wounds in 2009."

*Beginning to wonder if there is much more to this man that we might find out about in the near future.

Who shoots their significant other, then dismembers them?! Takes a special (sick) mind to do that type of thing. Ugh.

Pennsylvania authorities probe VSP on Ferlazzo, possible cold case connection

"We now know his stepmother was murdered in Pennsylvania in 2009, and police haven’t found her killer.

Pennsylvania law enforcement noted the possible connection and reached out to Vermont State Police when they heard of Emily’s death."
I don’t know if we’re dealing with a serial killer or possibly two generations of people killing their wives, but either way this development is wild.

Emily Jean Schwarz (Ferlazzo)

Plymouth - Emily Jean was born on July 25, 1999, in Plymouth, NH, bringing great joy to her family. She was a beautiful, aspiring singer; American Idol does not know what they missed. Her infectious personality was uncontainable.

She loved everything bright and sparkly, just like her. The things that brought Emily joy were shopping at the mall, turtles, her cat Oreo, and her dog Remi. She always made time for shenanigans with her best friend Lauren, which typically involved bikinis in the summer at Hampton Beach. With her family, she experienced many adventures like camping, trips to Acadia, hiking, and rock climbing.
