Guilty! Faces a minimum of 35 years. More details at noon.

Vt. man found guilty in 2021 murder of wife
Took the jury lesson than 3 hours? That tells you something.

Heart breaks for her family and loved ones. Do we have to refer to her as Emily F? I'd like to think we could go back to Schwarz, her birth name? To be referred to as Ferlazzo just strikes me as in poor taste since she was murdered in cold blood less than 2 years after meeting this insecure pathetic excuse for a man.

AND F this. 35 years!?!??! What? 35 years from now, Emily could have been 57 . A grandma, a mom, a seasoned nurse or cosmetologist.... all of that taken away by a delusional self centered fill in the blanks.

IMO, his inking skills will be high demand. Hopefully, he’s ambidextrous.

There was solid witness evidence there was abuse in the relationship. She had bruises.

New report that a precious girlfriend filed a police report and tried to get a restraining order from him. Also, he had no evidence of bruising when he was picked up. NONE. His statements in the interrogation about how he was entitled to have Emily put out when he wanted, and his constant slamming of her, were red flags for DV.

Also, per pros closing, the parking lot where they parked at a air Bnb was the same complex where Joe’s ex lived. Yep, he was planning to see his ex on the anniversary with his new wife. Also, he said he was polyamorous. The pros said Emily told him that night she was through. He killed her 5 minutes later.
i had heard about the ex living there-- and wondered why joe's sister picked that spot for her own air bnb... was sister chummy w/ ex? was it common knowledge joe wanted to visit the ex?

Gisela interviewed someone who came forward in the case who had an encounter with this clown before he was married. She was also in her 20s and he was 38.

RED FLAGS GALORE.

The judge who turned the other way on her request for a DVRO has blood on his hands.

I think his sentencing hearing will be sometime next year, I am sure her mother is ready to correct all the lies he told on the stand when she makes her victim impact statement

And I bet his sister wishes she could scrub off the tattoo he did for her,

Sentencing today. 42.5 years to life

How this is NOT lwop I don't understand at all.

The judge droned on and on. Did I hear correctly that this old man judge said that Joseph wouldn't be a danger to society if he didn't marry again? Kinda sorta victim blaming?

Sentencing today. 42.5 years to life

How this is NOT lwop I don't understand at all.

The judge droned on and on. Did I hear correctly that this old man judge said that Joseph wouldn't be a danger to society if he didn't marry again? Kinda sorta victim blaming?

The judge sentenced him to 42-1/2 years to life, without parole. He'll die in prison. He's 45 years old.

I listened a dozen times and didn't hear anything the judge said that sounded like what you heard. Can you indicate where in the video you thought he said this? I'll listen again if you point me to it.

I watched the local channel WCAX and didn't hear the judge say anything like that either. And in the local VtDigger, they quote the judge and he shows nothing but compassion for Emily and her family. In talking about her "beautiful voice" (her friend played a video of Emily singing), he says:

“It extended to all areas of her life,” the judge said. “It was a voice that deserved to be heard. It was a voice that deserved to grow, mature, and if necessary to heal, and it deserved to do that for a long happy life.”

But, (Judge) Pacht said, that didn’t happen as her life ended far too soon.

“And,” the judge said, “it was cut short at the hands of Joseph Ferlazzo.”

Pacht called it a “horrendous” crime and a case of “extreme” domestic violence.

Oops, I forgot to post the WCAX video and article.

In reaching the sentence of 42-and-a-half years, Vermont Superior Court Judge John Pacht said Ferlazzo’s testimony during the trial about the murder and the actions after the fact were not believable. He said there is only one victim in this case and that was Emily.

Also, Ferlazzo's lawyer:

Ferlazzo’s attorney, Margaret Jansch, asked for a much lesser sentence of 15 years to serve, but said she was not surprised by the judge’s decision.

“We will be appealing. It’s an automatic appeal because it’s a life sentence case in any case, and I do think there are some things that happened during the trial that would be good basis for an appeal,” Jansch said.
