When I think of the brother going around to check to make sure they were dead. He was a little monster. (I’m not allowed to say that locally)

She told law enforcement her father kept the gun in a small lockbox occasionally kept near the front door so he could bring it to work. She added that, of all four children, the suspect was "the only one who knew the combination" to the lockbox.

A black Glock handgun was found at the scene, according to the affidavit.

It will be interesting to see if the boy has remorse for his acts or is a complete sociopath. Are the reports accurate about well-adjusted kids and a happy family, or was their a darker side to their family life?
I just can't fathom this crime.

If he did as alleged, one of them wasn't.
A well-adjusted person couldn't shoot one person after another and then try to stage the scene to look as if one of the victims did it. No way. There would be something very unwell with him.

The surviving sibling stated her brother had the combo. She didn't say how he got it. The father he murdered in cold blood may have mistakenly trusted his kid with it, with the idea of him being the oldest, "if anything happens, you know the gun safe combo" kind of situation, or the kid could have snooped around and found it on his own (as kids are known to do). We just don't really know yet. Either way, this is just a horrific case.

Let me preface this by saying, I am in no way victim blaming. But I have to wonder why you would give your 15 year old the code to the gun safe? Isn't that the entire point of having a gun safe?

Also I wonder about the kids not being able to play with the neighboring kids of the LGBT+ family. It's beginning to paint a... certain picture of the family dynamics.

If you take the heresay as fact, it might. Whoever made that claim is unnamed and we don't actually know if it's true, or if it IS true, if it has anything at all to do with why the kid attempted to murder his entire family. Unfortunately, the only people that can explain the truth of the matter of that claim, have been murdered by their own child.

Yes we do. He was the eldest and per the surviving sister, the only one of the children who his father shared the code with. This wasn't any different than what most fathers across the country consider reasonable. Father generally took the firearm with him to work in Seattle which is also reasonable if you know anything about downtown Seattle. JMO

I must have missed the info that stated the father gave the boy the combo. The article I read stated that he (the brother) was the only one of the kids that knew it, but that's all it said.

Multiple teenagers in a family being homeschooled isn't a good sign to me. Wasn't there a similar story from Oklahoma a few years ago?

The surviving daughter is probably not old enough, or in a suitable mental state, to care for the animals.

Statistically, being homeschooled isn't any more dangerous than going to public school, but some families take control to extreme levels, and those are often the ones with problems.

Not to defend the “Keep Out” sign, but living in the general area, and on a body of water out here, the entire metropolitan Seattle area tends to empty out into the Valley and the Mountains on the weekends to recreate, and they’re not always (or it seems - ever) respectful of private property. lol. Truly, especially since Covid, the trails have been “discovered” and people are branching out and just tromp wherever, they don’t care if it’s through our backyards or not.

The Keep Out sign looks like it was placed there by the police.
