I've seen some pictures online of culverts that look like tunnels. That's what I'm envisioning so I'm wondering if it would be difficult to put a body inside the culvert.

This scenario sounds so likely. She is hurried, returning to get her badge. Not paying full attention. Runs right into someone in the middle of something.
I can see this happening.
I might go back up and look at the gravel areas. There are cameras in the park and ride as you exit the trail. I wish we knew for certain if she actually walked into the lot enough to actually see her. I guess the possibility there would be that she got to that point and then realized her badge was missing so turned around. It's possible she did interrupt someone breaking into her car or another car- and instead of them being ran off they hurt her in the heat of the moment. It does feel like a second person/second car would be involved though since it seems unlikely that they would drive her in her own car and then return it. Seems more like they would have ditched her car near the dump site.
The culvert is large. It's not a small opening. When you come down the hill you can see the water running in through it. It's wide and taller than some may be imagining.

I could see this happening... I parked in a line of cars on a side street near Northgate late one night a few months ago to wait for my husband. I saw a guy walking down the line of cars trying doors. He got one open right in front of me and then noticed me watching. He came running toward me. I gunned it and got out of there -_-;;
I'll bet a lot of car thieves are poor druggies looking for anything they can hawk. So they're probably super unpredictable and overreact pretty badly, on a hair trigger no less.

If she had other visible injuries or evidence of a heart attack, stroke, etc. I believe it would have been noted by the ME instead of simply the two self-inflicted cuts to the fingers, don't you think?
why do you think a second person would be involved? couldnt they have picked her up on their own and driven her in their own car?
Lol idk, it looked small to me, but I think I was having scary illogical thoughts of what being inside it would be like =P
There are a lot of flowers over there and I've been thinking of bringing some... I guess doing so would also be a good opportunity to get a better look. I feel guilty saying that though ^_^;;
I hear you. I took my friend who had not heard about Cheryl. I felt weird driving by her house and walking the trail and then seeing the sad place she ended up. In my heart I kept thinking that maybe one of us would figure something out or see something in a picture that would make sense of things.
After retracing her steps that day this person is from the area. It was almost like no thought went into this at all because of how close the culvert was to the transit center and her house.
I want justice for her but even more so I wish it didn't happen.

Yeah, I agree, the culvert is a very restrictive size/shape for something large to wash or roll into it and get stuck. On the other hand I totally believe something would be stuck in there after being placed directly inside.
When you come down the hill in the daytime it's definitely an obvious place to stick something you're trying to ditch. Going over the culvert is less likely I would think unless they really know the area and had it in mind prior to seeing it. But I could def see someone coming down the hill and having the a-ha moment. But I stand by the opinion that there is zero chance she was dumped during the daytime or evening hours. Middle of the night would be make the most sense since traffic is lighter

Mountlake Terrace police concede they’re holding back on releasing “sensitive information” about the death of Cheryl DeBoer until toxicology and forensic analysis of her computer and cellphone records are complete.
“We want to do what we can to hold sensitive information back until we see the phone, computer and lab results,” he said.
Police have said that it appears DeBoer’s phone was turned off shortly after her friend received the text.
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle...n-continues-as-police-await-forensic-results/Pickard said police are not trying to be cagey by releasing only small pieces of information. He said he suspects that once the investigation is concluded, people will understand why some information was withheld.

Same info that was posted on other MSM today but with seemingly more emphasis of the "sensitive" nature of not-yet-released information.
-as an aside, does anybody know if it's possible for the police to know whether a phone has been turned off as apposed to damaged, submerged or its battery removed?
Analysis of phone and computer records is not evidence that they are investigating the case as a suicide. Analysis of these types of possible sources of evidence are not a 'focus' but rather routine and *can* be quite valuable sources of pieces of evidence. This type of evidence is /should be analyzed when available whether suspected suicide or homicide.Their focus on phone and computer records makes me think they are actually investigating it as a suicide but just keeping that quiet for the family?
