WA - Gabriel Davies, 16, Found Safe - Then Charged With Murder, Olympia, 30 Aug 2022

Two things strike me
1) How much he resembles Taylor Lautner in Twilight, right on down to the NW Washington location, and
2) How much I hope this investigation reveals mitigating circumstances. I know a 16yo who killed his stepfather, and there was quite a lot to the story, which the judge considered. He’s a very successful and functional member of society now. If that is the case here, I hope it is as compassionately considered.

He didn't show up for work for 4 days that's why a welfare check was made on him on Thursday. So if the guy works a M-F day job that means he didn't show up for work on Mon, Tues, Wed or Thursday. LE responded to the welfare check at 9:30 am on Thursday.

I'm curious who and when the deceased guy was last seen.

I had only been barely following the case even though it is local to me. What a turn of events...not what I was expecting at all, especially since there have been a few missing teens from Olympia in the past few years. Really odd situation. Hope everyone gets answers soon.

Also curious when the last time someone saw the deceased. He must have been killed on or before Monday if he didn't show up to work for four days (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs would be four days). I would have thought the murder may have happened the same day Gabriel went missing, as something seemed to spur that action. But the murder must have taken place at least two days prior. Maybe he started getting freaked out about what he did and getting caught?

There is an interview with Thurston County LE about the search for GD. He said he could not comment on the ongoing Pierce County investigation.

Well ... Yikes ... what on earth happened here? I guess we are waiting for more information? Name of deceased, connection to GD and others? Also, who is co-accused? There absolutely must be extenuating circumstances here ... all around athlete, seemingly upstanding young fellow goes missing ... and is then charged with murder. Impatiently waiting ... Moo

The Sheriff's Department said deputies were checking on the victim at his residence in the 21900 block of 190th Street East in Orting because he failed to show up for work for four days.

Deputies determined he had a gunshot wound but no weapon was found. Detectives and forensic investigators processed the scene Thursday and Friday.

The victim had been dead for at least 24 hours prior to the discovery of his body on Thursday morning, said Sheriff's Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss. An exact time of death will be determined after a full investigation.

The victim and Davies knew each other, Moss said.

By Friday night, detectives had collected enough evidence to arrest the two teenage suspects just after 8 p.m.

The pair were booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of second degree murder, burglary and firearm possession charges.

The welfare check didn't happen until 930 am on Thursday. I think GD heard the man had been found and then took off.
