I think the children were placed with the grandparents as part of a CPS safety plan because there was a past, possibly lengthy history with Jenise's family. What happened to Jenise was probably the final huge straw that broke the camel's back.
Being with the grandparents and away from their very tense community is probably in the children's best interest for now.

I think a mod said in the last thread we can't speculate about the details of the children being removed. Just a friendly FYI, because we burned through that last thread so fast![]()
I haven't seen anything to suggest that James Wright is seeking litigation against anyone. I could understand his frustration at the reports of his background because he knew they were barking up the wrong tree. I know I would feel the same, if it were me and my child was missing. He has stated he needs to work to support his family and how will he do that now? I could understand that too. But it's a far leap to be making to suggest that his voicing frustration means that he intends to sue. HE hasn't said such a thing (if I'm wrong please cite your source) so why debate whether he would win or lose? It's ludicrous.
I feel horrible for these parents because I know what it's like to lose a child. These people are grieving.
*walks away smh*

If I had been accused of arson in the past, I wonder if it would delay my response in calling in a fire in the neighborhood. Especially if I didn't want my past dug up.
Of course not!!!A fire is not your flesh and blood child. And LE has said nothing to suggest the reporting was purposefully delayed.

Please forgive my poor choice of words. blue22, you know there has been much interest in why the family waited as long as they did to report, certainly expressed here in WS. The idea occurred to me that they might be thinking/praying she would turn up and because they knew his past would come out, they waited and hoped a little longer than they would have if his past weren't a factor.
I was actually trying to find a nicer way of conveying my thoughts ~ not being careless or cold!
Hadn't she been gone in the past for long hours? It was felt she was there at bedtime, but left in the AM. Apparently, that was not super unusual.
No, her dad said it was unusual for her to be gone by 7am.
It's on page 4 of the PCS.
I saw that part, but it was not enough to get them worried when she was gone for lunch as well as dinner.
Regular poster here (and fighting with the mod side of me!): We have never seen a thing anywhere that says they didn't worry. We actually haven't seen anything that says they didn't look themselves earlier. We know they waited to call the police but what we have seen is that he didn't worry until the first check-in window passed (2-4 hours or between 9-11am).
"Reports from neighbors put the girl’s last known appearance in the park between noon and 4 p.m. Aug. 3."
If they became worried once she missed that first check in at 11am, why not canvas the park and call LE by 12? That 10 hour difference might have made a difference.
Jenise was last seen Saturday night when she went to bed. Her family noticed her missing Sunday morning but didn't become worried and call for help until that night because she had left the home on previous occasions and wandered around the neighborhood.
The family felt it was relatively safe because the mobile home park is fenced, Wilson said
Jenise wasn't reported missing until Sunday night. Her family said the 6-year-old is very outgoing and has left the home on previous occasions to wander around the neighborhood with siblings or friends, according to the station. They said she usually checks in every few hours and, when they woke up Sunday morning and didn't find the girl in the house, they assumed she was somewhere nearby. When they still hadn't heard from her by 8:30 p.m. that night, they started going door-to-door and eventually called police.
I haven't seen anything in msm that they became worried at 11 am. The reports said they became worried that night. I've seen 8:30 pm listed as the time the parents started looking for her but nothing about 11 am. These were early news reports so maybe the timeline changed later?
