Army style combat boots are in style for teens. Some look in between army boot and hiking boot.

What about timberland boots on teenage guys? I see those all the time. My Husband has steel toe work boots bc he's in LE. Lots of professions require you to wear those though.

If the perp is an adult I would lean towards it being highly probable that it was a male that did this.

If the perp(s) is/are teens then I would say that either gender would be equally suspicious. I would also think that IF the perp was a teen and knew Jenise before (if this was not random), I think there would be more than one person involved.

If it's probable that there are more than one younger person involved, it also gives me hope that they will be caught just due to a slip up, telling someone else, not hiding something well enough, one person telling on the other one first...etc.

This makes me think they found a well worn item of clothing on or around J. Camo came to mind, but could be anything.

Normally a "Favorite item of APPAREL" and may have gotten rid of it?

I'm just listening to the presser for the first time (it is edited though) and noticed him referring to the muddy clothing again and referring to getting rid of a favorite item of apparel. Interesting word choice even though apparel still means clothing in general. I'm thinking sports gear, hat, sports shoes, jacket, etc. Getting tips in about this part already since finding Jenise.

I tried to find a MSM that lists the dad as a mormon and was unable to verify it although I've seen it in this thread. As an ex-LDS member, does he seem at ALL like an LDS member to you? I mean really, there are a lot of mormons around here and many mormon churches (all named after the local public elementary school they are closest to, which is kind of eye-catching and unusual to me) but he is the least like a Mormon and the family reflect least like a mormon family than anyone I've seen in that church. Lots of selfies with cleavage isn't something a wife of a mormon does, IMHO. Ever.
I haven't really checked out FB as far as pics, tend to stick with MSM, so I'm just taking my observation from that. A Mormon spouse has the obligation to stay with their non-Mormon spouse for the salvation of the children and the hope that the spouse converts so they be together as a family in the Celestial Kingdom. TMI, right?
I haven't read where the wife is an LDS member.
Treading lightly as far as the family.

It's a Mormon thing. We saw that with one of the parents of the Sandy Hook school shootings. They don't filter it because their belief/faith is a constant factor 24/7. They are "In the world, but not of the world" if that makes sense. They are judged by God and not the society they live in.
Just trying to explain where this father is coming from. His fellow Mormons understand, but non-Mormons may find it "strange" or "different".
But I totally get what your saying. Without being a LDS member, his comments aren't what you'd expect. As an ex-LDS, I find it totally normal, but that doesn't mean I agree with it.
Hope that makes sense?

I know the dad is Mormon, but looking for something good in a tragedy is not only a Mormon thing. Plenty of people react like this, including me. It's very comforting. In fact, I find it strange that people are finding this reaction strange. Yes, some people do look for the good in bad situations (and they usually find it...though it may take time and some effort).

I read your link:

what stands out is that she was a loving girl and the 14 yr old sounds like a lovely person too. Everyone must be hurting very deeply.
My initial gut reaction to reading that is FAR from warm.....it's downright eerie. Sorry. Just my own humble opinion. I honestly hope you're right newone...I sincerely do! :gaah:

Yep those too are in style. A mix of combat, hiking and the timberland type are all big here for teen boots.

If they found an item, and I think they did, it is covered with DNA.

Hopefully it is someone they have a DN sample from or a parent who gave a sample.

I don't think they know who it is right now or they would not go through all of that obtaining of DNA.

I've pretty much concluded that if there are signs of a sexual assault, that it would obviously be a male perp. On the other hand, if there is no evidence of a sexual assault, I think it is entirely possible that it could be either one.

I'm not really very convinced that the cops are going to release that information until there is an arrest made. Which means more speculating and arguing about whether there is a woman in the entire State of Oregon that has ever worn a pair of hiking boots or not.

Oh well...........I guess we all have the spare time.

Are you sure ? Teenage girls can be pretty 'onry. Ever seen the movie "Mean Girls"?

Yes, I saw mean girls with a bunch of teenage girls and we had a good laugh. And, yes trust me, I know girls can be vicious. However, I am going from what I have read and my gut feeling that it is a male and there was sexual assault. Maybe I worked in the system too long. Prove me wrong! I just want to see the perp apprehended and quickly.

I'm still not getting a teen did this vibe. I have to wonder if the favorite item of "apparel" might be a belt. . .hmmmm.

For those who have followed cases like this for a while, I wonder how common it is for the perp to be one of the most vocal in expressing their sadness, or most involved in the search (really making themselves known, kind of thing)?
My personal gut feeling on your subject is YES!!!!! I absolutely think this is VERY likely especially if the perp is young.

Howdy everybody! While we're waiting, can someone jog my memory regarding Jon Benet and DNA recovered from her body? Was there foreign DNA found under her fingernails? I can't remember, but I will never forget her. No justice for Jon Benet.

Any word on the time for the Presser? TIA.

Or just extremely dumb as most criminals are...

I should revise my statement.

Where I live, Keens, flip flops and athletic shoes are in year round.

During frigid temps and deep snow, the Keen sandal is worn with socks , among teens

Girls stick with athletic shoes in the snow.

I remember when I was a teen. It was 80 below wind chill and my friends and I were in town with our winter shorts. Wool. Probably penny loafers as foot wear. No hats, of course.

We were furious when a city bus driver made us get onto the bus.

Teens. No brains.

There may be no new info in a presser, but at least they are communicating with the public. If there weren't any pc's people would be complaining imo. In the active search for Relisha Rudd they had a presser every day and everyone here greatly appreciated it, even though there was nothing new to report. jmo
I also think PC's are not as much about the public as the perp. KWIM? I think they want to send messages to him about what they do know or don't know so that he may make a move or make a slip . PC's are a carefully crafted little ploy in some ways. moooo

Yup, we have the time or we would not be on here

I am going to stick with what people think is worn in Washington, however

I am seriously LOLing at the thought of keens w socks. My hippy dippy cousins in New Hampshire wear that crap. Totally goofy looking. It's the modern day birks w socks look.
