A body found in Renton on Tuesday has been identified as Leticia Martinez-Cosman, who had disappeared after a Mariners game on March 31, the woman’s brother confirmed to KIRO 7.

Martinez-Cosman was last seen at the game with 46-year-old Brett Gitchel.

Seattle police said that during their investigation into Martinez-Cosman’s disappearance, they found human remains in Renton Tuesday. The King County Medical Examiner has not yet released the cause and manner of the person’s death, but Martinez-Cosman’s brother, Ricardo Martinez, told KIRO 7 the body was his sister’s.

I’ll be interested to see how this progresses. What were their texts (assuming there are some) prior to their “date” like and saying? What were his opinions on immigration and race? His social media and political beliefs really made me wonder why he’d went out with a Latina. Was this his first time maybe doing this? I’ll assume that he’s innocent until found guilty, but based on his lack of discretion, he either has done this so many times that he doesn’t give AF anymore or it’s his first time and he was careless (all sorts of possible proof out there now). He really did seem to be two different people. Like someone stated before, he even looks different in every pic that I’ve seen online. The only thing that seemed familiar was the collar of that Seattle coat he had on in that video around that person’s house and in that selfie. Very strange guy.

Cosman, who had disappeared after a Mariners game on March 31, the woman’s brother confirmed to KIRO 7 Friday morning.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Martinez-Cosman died on April 1. Her cause of death was due to asphyxiation due to strangulation. It was ruled a homicide.

Martinez-Cosman was last seen at the game with 46-year-old Brett Gitchel. King County prosecutors plan to add second-degree murder to the list of crimes Gitchel is already charged with, prosecutor’s office spokesman Casey McNerthney said Friday.

Leticia Martinez-Cosman, 58, who was last seen leaving a Seattle Mariners baseball game while out on a date, was found dead in Renton's Washington Woods on April 13. Authorities are now treating her death as a homicide after it was determined that she was strangled to death.

I agree but in his case he probably couldn't afford a low bail. His mother, with her restraining order against him, likely wouldn't be standing up for him. JMO

• Gitchel pleaded not guilty to all charges in both cases, including murder in the second degree, kidnapping in the first degree, unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree, arson in the second degree, theft in the first degree, and burglary in the second degree.
• The separate burglary case prosecutors have charged Gitchel with involved unlawful access and stealing of items from a residential garden shed on March 28 in Seattle.
• He will face a jury trial for both cases scheduled for June 12.

If she looks familiar, that’s because Leticia was the owner in the 2000s of a coffee shop called Cafe Rozella on Delridge Way in White Center, where she hosted community events in support of cultural diversity, live music, and local AA meetings.

Martinez-Cosman was also the caretaker of her special needs son Patrick, who needs full-time care.

“He will have extensive physical and mental health needs in the days and months ahead and we cannot do it alone,” family members said.

“Her life motto was to embrace life, to take it as it comes regardless of it’s ups and downs," said one of Leticia's sisters.

Martinez-Cosman's siblings said she was resilient, a pillar in their community, and a caring person whose life was cut short.

“Letty’s departure came too soon leaving a void in our lives that can’t be filled," Martinez-Cosman's siblings added.
