Sam's boyfriend and some friends climbed to the top of Vesper Peak yesterday, on her birthday, carrying a flag signed by her friends and family. Here are photos of them at the top that were posted on the #findsamsayers Facebook page: #findsamsayers Facebook post

They've also set up a separate Facebook page for anyone who is local who wants to volunteer on the ground searching for Sam. According to the post about it on the main Facebook page: "Please only apply to join and fill out the short questionnaire, if you are physically able to join the search." If you're local and want to join in, here is the link: #findsamsayers Volunteers Facebook page

It's been two weeks ... she must have been injured I think. It doesn't look hopeful does it.

So heartwarming what her friends and family are doing! Hope they find her soon.

I hope they stay careful - lots of smoke from fires over the area right now, the sun was red this morning and red this evening.

Gerry Largay survived for 26 days after she became missing while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Even though the longer that Sam is missing; the more likely it is that she won't be found alive, you just never know.

I sure hope that this has one of those miracle endings.

Gerry's story was so tragic. Searchers came within 100 yards of where she set up her tent when she got lost. She survived as long as she did as she had food and water for a multi day hike, warm clothes and shelter. Sam, unfortunately, was prepared to be only out one day. I'm praying she found one or more of the rescue packs with supplies the searchers sent out.

They seem to get so close but not find them so often. It's so heartbreaking when we find out later.

I have a daughter with Alopecia. This one is hard.

I am still holding out hope that the LE and/or hiking community will find Samantha alive and bring her home. Still not too late.

Yesterday, few miles from where my Dad retired at, they found a hiker in the Cascade Mountain Range that went out in flip flops and shorts and no extra food or water 7 days after he went missing. Holding out hope for Sam.

Sam's boyfriend, Kevin, was interviewed on a local radio station show on August 10th. He talks about the cell phone pings. The first two pings were on the day she went missing, and came from the mountain. The third ping was 30 miles to the northeast which was supposedly "an anomaly", also on the same day.

I don't know anything about how cell phone pings work so maybe it's normal to have such an anomaly but it does make me wonder...

Here's the link to the recording from the radio show. Kevin's interview starts at about 6 minutes in: August 10, 2018 - Hour 3 from The Ron and Don Show

Have you heard at what times the pings were done? Because I just don't understand that ping 3 was an anomaly. If she was abducted and forced down the trail to the parking area by gunpoint or whatever. Wouldn't it be possible that while driving away with her they threw her cell phone out the window? Ping 3 is very close to the road heading out of there. Stay Sam Strong!!!!

No, I don't think I've seen any mention of clock time, just the order (1st and 2nd on the mountain and then 3rd to the northeast by 30 miles). I wondered if someone hurt her on the trail, stole her phone/backpack, and took it with them when they left.

bbm Thanks for posting this. I find this very worrying.

While the theoretical limits of cell-phone towers could encompass a 30 mile range...in the real world using a non-boosted device, the functional limit is a fraction of that, maybe 10 miles at most. I'd say under 5 miles in most cases. And if you consider mountainous terrain in that area it's even less practicable for a consumer grade device to ping a tower at that 30 mile range.

I don't know why this case is giving me the willies, but something here just seems off.

Sam’s boyfriend again referred to her in the past tense on his live Facebook post last night (8/16 on #findsamsayers FB page). Someone commented on it and people ‘went off’ on the poster saying ‘give him a break,’ etc. The past tense thing seems to be emerging as a pattern for him. I’ll bet her mom is not doing that.

I will add that our SAR here in Snohomish County has been doing an epic job on this case, they are known for being thorough. They have found nothing up there. Really makes me wonder about that third cell phone ping 30 miles away.

Just my own thoughts and opinions here. May God be with you Sam and may you be found well and soon.
