Two things: someone mentioned that Julia is probably reading here. Going by her significant online presence, I would be very surprised if she was not reading here.

The other thing is that the fact that she asked to travel with the children to Scottsdale, AZ- what is the connection? Could Sky be there?

I've sold a lot of condo's, seen many sets of rules and regulations. I have never seen one specify during which hours residents could vacuum.

When I rented, we had a 10:00 PM time-frame for noise. My son, when he rented, his was 11:00 PM.

I just took it as my neighbor below me wouldn't appreciate me vacuuming over his head while he was sleeping in his bed.

Sometimes it just ends up being "common sense", of which, this family clearly lacks in a multitude of areas of life.

Pickin' nits here, but I imagine most residents knew that JB was a stay-at-home mom. With her OCD in full swing, I think it's also quite a reasonable assumption that she was cleaning/vacuuming a lot over the course of the day.

What's interesting though is the fact that the condo has hardwood floors.

I have hardwood floors and use a vacuum cleaner. They have different gadgets you can attach to the hose depending on what you want to vacuum....hardwood floors, carpeting, cushions, couches

They may have had central vacuum

The bedrooms could be carpeted. Years ago I lived in a complex like this. I worked at midnight at the time so went to bed at 3pm. Upstairs tenant vacuumed at least twice a day. Seemed like she did the bedroom over mine at 3pm everyday. Of course I couldn't say anything as it was daytime, but it was annoying. So, I can imagine people complaining if they lived under her about vacuuming at 11pm. I now work 2nd shift and live in a side by side duplex and would never think of vacuuming when I got home at midnight.

I wish he is. Alive and well.

A few things: It was interesting to see Grandma S's connection to JB (through the church).

After looking at the church website, I am going to have to go back to SM's initial statement about what time he was contacted that Sunday morning (I seem to recall 10 or 10:30). He said he was getting ready for church...and that would make sense for the 11 o'clock service.

I wonder if SJ is softening her stance a bit toward SM now that the church has been an active support system for him. I haven't seen any MSM link that correlates support for JB with the church, only SM.

I think my condo association is 10PM too. However, I live in a TH and have no one above or below me. But all of the condo docs I have read describe noise as excessive noise. I wouldn't describe excessive noise as the sound of a vacuum cleaner, but I do agree if she was using a vacuum set on floor versus carpet setting, it would be louder than carpeting on pergo or real hard wood flooring.

I hear semi's on a 6 lane highway a few blocks away if I leave my windows open. There are some sounds that just can not be avoided in multiple unit living. Also, it's been my experience that the majority of residents who living in condo's similiar to the condo owned by SM and JB are older seniors who downsized from SF homes into Condo's - especially in elevator buildings. They tend to complain about a lot. My great aunt when living in my dads condo years ago would complain about hearing the neighbor play her piano during the day when both had windows open.

I looked at the pictures from the website. All rooms are hardwood. Of course, there could have been decorative rugs placed on them.

Whatever it was, it was about $$. She was willing to give up close to 2000.00 a month in child and spousal support for it. I suspect a sugar daddy.

I don't think Sky is there, sadly. :(

There were a few sugar daddies listed in Arizona, one gave a more specific location in Phoenix. I wonder if she has family in Scottsdale, maybe extended family?

Legally she could not waive child support unless she were marrying someone who was adopting her children. State and federal child support laws simply do not allow the custodial parent to give up or waive child support without adoption. We can pretty much bet SM was not going to waive his parental rights and allow someone else to adopt Sky and M'.

How sad for SM to pay out that each month and not even be able to see the children.

I knew a guy years ago who had court ordered visitation and his ex would still deny him access to the kids. He stopped paying and they threw him in jail. He was actually jailed longer then repeat dwi offenders!

Well I have been a property manager in my past life, and the condo rules of many complex's I managed specified no unnecessary noice between the hours of 9pm and 7am..Its just common courtesy.i

:waitasec: Children have to eat, and have a roof over their head, so even if Solomon wasn't allowed to see his children, he still is required to support them.

Although, if he doesn't, the IRS can take his refund check, he could lose his driver's license and he could go to jail!

YEARS ago men tried to get away with "I don't see my children", so why should I pay. Well, the laws have caught up with these "sorry a$$ fathers" and now at least they have to be a bit more concerned or end up in jail.

Respectfully, there is never a price a parent puts on their children. Not ever. I spent more money on health insurance for a few years than I'll likely see in 18 years of child support. I ate up all of my home equity doing so before the market fell- and would have been mortgage free right now, but there isn't a chance I wouldn't do it again for my child.

I have not seen one word from SM complaining about having to pay child support or alimony. Not a single word. Child support and visitation are TWO SEPERATE issues entirely. There is never an excuse to withhold child support when visitation is denied or to withhold visitation when child support is in arrears. SM was not in arrears, according to documents we've seen he was 1 month behind at one time and has since caught up.

What's sad, imo, is not that he had to pay child support or alimony, but the extent his childrens mother went to alienate him from their children.

Yes, I agree. Most condo and apartments specify no excessive noise between certain hours. My reply was to another poster who suggested condo rules and regulations specify what hours residents are permitted to vacuum.

I didn't mean that SM complained or that paying gave him the right to see the kids. I just meant it was sad that he wasn't allowed to.

I didn't mean to stir up anything by mentioning the guy I knew. There were other issues there too and I should have left that out of my post. Sorry.

No worries. I've been a single parent since the stick turned pink, and I've been around enough SP sites and parenting forums to know there are many different reasons child support might be in arrears, and not all are due to the unwillingness to pay. I don't know what your friends situation is, nor is it any of my business. I just feel very strongly about the general ties that are sometimes made between child support and visitation. So please understand my reply was not directed at your friend, just my feelings on the subject in general.

<snip>

On a completely different topic, yesterday you mentioned another forum you weren't sure if it was ok to mention here. The only time a link or mentioning a site is a violation of TOS is if you see the link blocked out by ****** and will read something like http://*******.com That indicates a site which is not approved by WS.

ETA: I was going to answer this yesterday but saw you weren't online so figured I'd wait and answer when I saw you online again. :)

In the middle of the night? Condo associations have rules on what someone can and can not do. Quite possible that condo association had a rule that someone couldn't vacuum at night.

Most condos and apt complexes have regulations of excessive "noise" by limiting it to 10 PM at night.
