Tell me more, pferrin.... why does that location make sense? I am trying to make sense of it. I was thinking that LE stated that no TIPS led to this area of search, but they did not say that no "surveillance" or traffic cams led to that area.

My heart just *pings* loudly and deeply when they say that search and "rescue" teams are out there ---it's clearly a *search*, and it is so troubling and incredibly sad for poor toddler Sky. God how my heart goes out to him...the pain...the loss...and my so devastating for his sister and those that love him, up close and personal.

For me it makes sense because it is close to SM ..I think she would be vindictive enough to put Sky close to Solomon. It is not far from Redmond..and down the 405 a little and there is Bellevue. I am certain she would be very familiar with the transit system and would have known this park and ride.

Being so close to the 405 it would have been easy access to her if she was using her brothers auto. I have thought that perhaps she might have used a taxi for transportation sometimes..She could have taken Sky in a taxi to that area and taken a bus back to her apartment.

I cant see that she would go anywhere that she had to get too dirty..slipped into the woods and out again. Go buy new shoes..etc.

thank you all for the updates and your dedication to this case. As someone here has said, it might be that Julia never really did place Sky in the car and that she just used it as a cover up story. I was wondering, because there were some reports that the dogs never picked up a scent of a dead body, it might be possible that Sky was alive when Julia took him out for a little trip somewhere secluded. Maybe she didn't outright kill him but just abandoned him in a remote area or threw him alive down a cliff or body of water. in all likelihood, the chances of him being found alive are slim at this point of time. it is disheartening to know that julia is still not cooperating with the police. she is causing emotional pain not only to her ex husband but also to her own daughter, who I'm sure is terribly missing her little brother by now. What a mean, selfish, cruel, heartless person this woman is.

Park info: http://activerain.com/blogsview/1775799/kingsgate-park-kirkland-washington

It is 7.20 acres big, consisting mostly of trails through the woods. The path leads steeply downward into a ravine. There is a bridge at the bottom, then up the other side you go. Small side trails lead toward the freeway or back up toward the neighboring houses.

Would you want to have a picnic there? - Possibly. But probably not. There are no tables, no benches, no grassy area.

Take small children? - No. Too steep. No play equipment at all.

Walk the dog? - Definitely.

Jog? - If you want some hills to increase endurance, it would be a good place.

What would be the main use of the park?

Walking or jogging. A nice peaceful serene place to walk in every day to get away from the crush of the day and unwind.

Stunning.

In other news, they must have her cell phone pings.

BBM. (snipped)I hope LE got some kind of credible tip from last night's showing of AMW and are searching these areas based on a solid tip, rather than chance. I know LE said they are just covering all their bases and this is one they haven't checked yet -- that it's random, but I'm crossing my fingers there's something more reliable to this search. Please find Sky!!

BBM...What they said was, "“No specific leads or specific information, this is a just area that has been untouched, we want to turn every stone,” said Officer Tory Mangione, Bellevue Police Department"

It's distinctively NOT random. They know what they're doing. Think about it -how many random areas are there within reach for JB to dispose over an undefined timeframe? Many, many, too many to count. It's not random. LE doesn't have the resources to do random searches in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. This is a targeted area. I am *hoping* that they have strong reason to be at the Park and Ride today, even though it is not categorized as a, "new lead" ...jmho

The dogs did pick up a scent, but as far as I know, it wasn't the scent of a dead body. The dogs probably just picked up Sky's scent from his blanket.
I don't think he was disposed of alive. JB killed him before she buried him somewhere.
I hope this search in the park reveals Sky's body or some evidence that he was there.

Wow! Excellent idea... I wonder if the le thought to check place Solomon frequently visits or anywhere near his home. Julia would love to blame him for this.

In fact, one of the places searched was Kingsgate Park, directly next to the house where the boy's father Solomon Metalwala is staying with his brother. The park is approximately 10 blocks from the park and ride and on the opposite side of Interstate 405. But police said that no items of interest pertaining to the case were found.
"We did a radius search, which included Kingsgate Park," said Bellevue Police Det. Tory Mangione at the base used for the day-long search. "We are just making sure that no stone is left unturned."

The search included Bellevue police, the King County Sheriff's Office and Washington State Search and Rescue. Mangione said that the search was not prompted by any new leads or tips from the public.

"It is just because these are some of the ordinary areas the family has frequented," said Mangione. "We want to check every possible place connected to the family."

I keep wondering if SM can give insight into whether it is typical for Julia to leave her cell at home. I am a total space cadet with my phone and constantly leave it and/or let it run out of batteries, but I do not know ONE other person who does this. Literally every friend/family member I can think of ALWAYS has their phone on them and charged. I'd be willing to bet, especially given her obsessive 'issues' and apparent tether to her social networks (e.g. her son's missing but she manages to squeeze flikr into her day), that woman NEVER leaves the house without her phone. Clearly intentional, imo.

If they can't get enough to get Julia in to talk to them, there's no way LE would have enough to subpoena cell records, would they?? Without those, it seems like finding him could be like finding a needle in a haystack. I can't help but think that's why they're sticking to parks - the alternative(looking East) is too daunting.

Just FYI - My boyfriend and I drove by the Kingsgate Park & Ride again at about 9:30 tonight and all of the LE and the Search & Rescue teams are gone.

It would be nice to see justice served in one of these cases.

I wonder why they chose the Kingsgate P&R - I mean, why the P&R? I gather this is near where SM lives... I used to live in the condos right next door :( (many years ago). This is not especially close to where Julia lived, or to the Bellevue locations we've heard discussed. Oh, how I wish she would break down and just tell what happened.

I've always wondered why this P&R is called Kingsgate, too - there's a housing development called Kingsgate but it's a ways to the east.

PrincessPJs, when did you graduate? My son went to Juanita in the '90s!

(Recap of today's search just came on KING news as I'm typing - spokesman says no specific info or leads brought them here...it was just a stone they didn't want to leave unturned. Hmmmm, call me skeptical. It seems pretty random.)

ETA: I need to learn to read; I see you all covered this stuff upthread! So the search was actually at the park? Still not thinking this is random...

Okay Guys - we need to stop sending messages to Julia, please. It is against the rules to post messages to people that are not members here. :(

I understand and share the frustration and I wish she would woman up and tell LE where Sky is also. He deserves to come home.

OT, but these "kidnapped" children cases just keep piling up. I am so frustrated by these parents who think they can concoct a story about their child being abducted when they're the ones who harmed their own flesh and blood! Stranger abductions are extremely rare but they do happen and the more parents are coming forward with false stories of stranger abductions....the more they 'cry wolf'....the less apt the public is to believe a real story when it happens.

IMO, if people do not confess in the initial stages of an investigation, they are not going to do so later on. Once they have dug in their heels, they will tend to ride it out and keep their mouths shut or stick to their stories. I don't think we will see any resolution coming by way of a parent in this case, or Lisa's case, or other cases with a parent/family member POI. JMO

Praying today is the day Sky is found and comes home.

Sorry to hear nothing was found yesterday, but am glad they are going to search area's known to the family.

I think we have another Casey Anthony on our hands with Julia.

One other point I keep forgetting to make - my first thought when I saw the surveillance pictures of Julia was that she'd obviously been crying. My husband can tell immediately when I've been crying and especially when it's been a real doozy (and everything's puffy) - I bet Solomon would be able to tell immediately whether she was just tired (just woke up etc) or had been crying. Not that that specifically means anything, just possible insight into her state of mind.

So, here is something that crossed my mind today...If Julia passed Sky off to a relaive because she could not handle raising him and did not want SM to have him, the only thing she could be charged with is filing a false police report. SHe has sole custody and can make whatever living arrangements she wants to. I know way think this is ok, but another reason she could be remaining silent. She and SM never reached a visitation or custody agreement, so in she and her attorney's eyes she can only be charged with what I mentioned.

Do I agree with this...He** no!!! Wasting resources and putting people through anguish is sick, disgusting, and immoral.

I am curious to know the truth and I think of Sky often. I pray he is alive and well somewhere as I do all children who have disappeared. I cannot understand what this world has come to and the evilness in it.

We don't know why the P&R is being called "Kingsgate" P&R either. It's the park & ride that is about 2 blocks from Juanita High School (where we both graduated from) on the way to Totem Lake. We would have called it the Totem Lake P&R if we were talking about it in conversation.

Yes, this is a typical Park & Ride - just a parking lot with woods all around it. (Around here it seems that EVERYTHING has woods around it.) :(

In this article they referece "Totem Lake" . . .

"Multiple law enforcement agencies converged on the Totem Lake Park and Ride in Kirkland and used the site as a base of operations on Saturday morning around 8 a.m. to search an area familiar to the family of the boy. This is the second time authorities have searched in Kirkland for the boy. Bellevue and Kirkland police searched Watershed Park near 520 on Nov. 19."
