Websleuths will be temporarily offline on Friday, Feb 14th

I think they've squashed a bunch of the "Oops" broken links. Make sure you use the links from the forum-lists, and not the links you've posted. So the link from @TwinkieDefense ...

https://websleuths.com/missing-persons-discussion.60/

won't work, but the link directly from the list-of forums...

Missing Persons Discussion

will work. Our coders' original solution for the broken links removed the "/forums/" part of the URL, but that ended up causing more problems than it solved, so they figured out another way to make links work.

Also, the error reported by @Knitty that showed "This website is unavailable for your location." for the Delta flight story has been fixed, however you'll have to re-post that particular link for the embedded card to render properly. See below!

I'll have another look at the posting bug from @Bounceycat, but please try posting again when you get a chance.

Thank you, everybody for your patience, and for sending me your bugs and error messages! Keep 'em coming!

All fixed on my end now. Thanks so much for your hard work!

Some of the sub forums I reported yesterday were still misbehaving today so I logged out, cleared my Websleuths related cookies & history & all seems to be well now.

Thank you for your efforts @fraize ! 👍

The forum links from the list of forums do not work for me. I've logged out, cleared all cookies and data (not just this site). I'm using Chrome on a Mac. My phone works fine.

Hi @fraize. I noticed another issue when you search this site for something. The results used to come back in date/time order, with the latest/most current being on the top. However, I just now did a search and the 3 results are out of order which was very confusing until I figured out why (not in date order). It makes it very hard to find things when you get a bunch of search results that are jumbled up date-wise. I'm HOPING this is something you guys can fix! :D

Without pasting private stuff... my 3 results were in this order:
  • Jan 26, 2024
  • Jan 31, 2025
  • May 12, 2024
Thank you.

And this next issue might be hard to visualize.

OK, so before I hit Post on my above thread, my information kept changing right before my very eyes. I ran several tests, thinking it was when I highlighted something, or hovered my mouse over something, but it appears it just happens over 'time'. I counted "one one thousand, two one thousand", etc. and got to 11. So 10 seconds-ish?

What was changing was the red font would go back to black, and the "Thank you" at the bottom was overwritten with "May 12, 2024". My hand was NOT on my mouse so I didn't accidentally do something. I hope like heck it's WS and fixable, and not my computer!

Before:

After 11 seconds or so (red underlines done by me to point out the areas):

In order to get things back to the red font and "Thank you" at the bottom, I had to hit Undo (Ctrl-Z) which removed the date at the very bottom, AND turned the red font back back to red, but then I had to do a (Ctrl-Y (Redo) which then brought back my "Thank you". I did this about 6 times as I was taking notes and trying to figure out exactly what it was doing.

I want to add that I waited a bit before posting this to see if anything changes and it didn't. That makes me wonder if it has anything to do with the bulleting I had in my last post since I don't have any bulleting here (those are SS's above). Please do let me know if anything doesn't make any sense and I'll try my best to clarify.

Thank you.

I can’t return to the Home page after visiting a thread. I close the page and start over.

For some reason, the Missing Person's Dicsussion forum won't open when I click on it. The link is https://websleuths.com/missing-persons-discussion.60// I cleared cookies, that didn't help. Other forums are working fine.
Update: What's interesting is that the link opens fine in Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge as Missing Persons Discussion (only one / after 60 in the URL) but won't open in Google Chrome and has two // in the URL when you click on Missing Persons Discussion forum.

This is odd.
