I stopped watching him when he had baby Lisa's parents on his show. I think he's a disgrace.

It's been so long... I can't remember what the final straw was for me! lol

I watched part of the episode with the ALLEGED scale model of Travis's bedroom on HLN ... With Jose Baez .. I could feel my blood pressure rising to a dangerous level. Had to turn it off and refuse to ever watch that garbage again.

I just found this and had to share lol!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bux27f49T5U

I put this up last week and it got deleted. I don't know why because I thought it was funny as he11. I've watched it over and over and catch myself singing the song all the time... well, the phrases I remember (I've never been good at remembering song lyrics).

And now thanks to your putting it up again I'm going to watch it a few more times and sing along!

Mmmm..kay .... So what do you guys think the "real" truth is about Matt McCartney? Will he be called? Is he in some kind of witness protection program, under threat of being charged if he doesn't tell the "truth".

Do you think he will be called in the rebuttal case? I just think there must be some big "smoking gun" about to come out in rebuttal. So ... what say you?

I think he might be in Europe somewhere.

I think Detective Flores did a remarkable job of interrogating her. He was trying to peel her like an onion. Gently, and layer by layer. I think he did his best, but she was not about to be broken.

If you look at how she sparred with JM on the stand you get a pretty good idea of what she's capable of, and JM was not pulling any punches with her. No Mr. Nice Guy with his cross. She is simply a nut that will NOT be cracked.

There was nothing Det. Flores could have done differently that would have been any more successful in breaking this defendant. She is a psychopath, and a very practiced liar. I have nothing but admiration and respect for his patience. I would have pulled out my wooden spoon after about 15 minutes :giggle:.

ETA: AND...look at all of the ways she tripped herself up during her testimony compared to what she said in those interrogation tapes. Det. Flores kept her talking...and talking....and talking. Enough rope to hang her own self with.

Great post. I agree.

Caught a snippet today I'd forgotten where she asks about a polygraph. "How could that help me?" Flores says it can't be used in court.

She quickly says "oh well, no point in doing it, then."

She was never taking a polygraph.

The Matt McCartney issue is simple.

The DT has thrown Matt's name out there during their case as having been told of the pedo accusations and domestic abuse back when the alleged incidents took place. Now we also know that he was to be the recipient of the secret code message in the magazine. He's also been quoted as saying that he'd lie for Jodi. The DT obviously would never call him knowing he would be destroyed on cross but they still used him to back their case. So Juan wants the jury to remember his name and wonder why it is this witness was never called by the DT to the stand if he indeed was privy to the domestic abuse and pedo claims. That's why Juan brought his name up so much in a taunting fashion.

I've wondered about that. Maybe if they wanted to file one, they have to wait until after the criminal case?

I just had to go look it up :)

Civil Action Arising from Criminal Conduct:

If the defendant is charged by a criminal complaint or indictment, then regardless of whether the defendant is convicted of criminal conduct against the victim, the limitations period for any cause of action brought by the victim against the defendant for criminal conduct is extended for one year from the final disposition of the criminal proceedings. This only applies against the defendant and defendant's personal assets. However, insurers have no duty to defend or indemnify under this statute, unless the action is filed within the otherwise applicable limitations period. Also, this statute doesn't apply to employers or former employers. ARS 12-511.

BBM: Do you really think so?

(disclaimer: dialogue is paraphrased)

Weird how two people can see the exact same thing and come to opposite opinions. I think she was thrown off her game plan. With his opening questions when he says "you have a Bachelors degree, correct" and immediately you see her spine stiffen. She corrects him and says "NO, I have a Masters" and Juan says "WELLLLL (love his wells) you had to get a bachelors first, right?"

FIRST he asks her what year she got her Bachelors. "1969" (historically speaking after the Summer of Love and the beginning of the ME Generation; but I digress); then he asks "What year did you get your Masters?" and she responds "1980" (The Eighties: Ronald Reagan, Madonna, Aids Awareness, Gold Chains & Designer Jeans, Top Gun, Belin Wall; but I digress).

His questions were tactical in that they highlighted the many years since she got her degrees and exposed a sore point, as in "Hello expert witness with No PhD, let's talk about...oh I don't know...let me think...oooh how about "Was Snow White an Abused Woman?"

The result was he put her on the defensive right from the start, Juan knew exactly what he was doing. IMO, ALv became rattled rather quickly. I don't think she thinks she won, I think feels she frightened about what's coming her way. She has no sympathy from me, tho.

Early in the week I posted my thoughts on how I felt Juan should approach his cross; I thought he should be very FIRM with ALv BUT not condescending. So glad he listens to unsolicited advise from sleuthers on the internet machine. LOL.

Honestly tho, I think he was taking his cues from her, if she answered his questions properly (w/o the head games) he would have taken a different tact. In any case, he got what he wanted but she is the one that decided how it was going to play out for the rest of the cross.

I so agree, I think he may have been going to play nice but when she got defensive........that ended.

THAT was worthy of "World's Dumbest Criminals". Especially since she is a so-called "professional" photographer.

:floorlaugh:

ITA!

LOL... and the voice mail she leaves Travis after she has brutally murdered him... huh?? :snooty: Cannot believe she thought she could dupe everyone - especially LE.

EXACTLY. Remember when JW was holding ALV's hand and leading her through the texts and emails from Travis? There was one reply from JA, which made me shudder because it was so sociopathic.

He sent a long angry tirade...and she replied by saying [paraphrased]: " Ok, have a nice afternoon..."

And the DT TRIED to play off that cold hearted biotchy reply as something "NICE" and an example of her trying to de-escalate his anger. I CALL BS.

Saying ' have a nice day' to someone who has just sent you 16 pages of livid insults is what sociopaths do , imo. She didnt ask why he was angry or apologize for whatever she did or even fight back with the same anger. She just said ' okay, have a nice afternoon...looks like I am not the drama queen..you are..."

I found her responses chilling and cold as ice. JMO

Anyone who knowingly has had any contact with a sociopath knows exactly what her (JA's) response was about. I guess that ALV hasn't encountered any sociopathic behaviour in her 35 years of experience in DV?

What would be the purpose? They could be awared a monetary compensation but she doesn't have any money.

Did LE interview JA's grandparents (or are they even alive for that matter??)

Reflecting back on AlaV's testimony at cross, since we have no new material. She is amazingly defensive and the closely, affectedly modulated voice is not a good disguise for that. It may be her prime technique in dealing with people but, with her eyes squinting shrewdly and her challenges as to what Martinez is trying to make her say, she gives herself away utterly. If you are thinking about where an examiner is leading you, you are definitely not speaking candidly. The truth is not your objective. Because Martinez called her on every refusal to answer Yes or No, she was exposed as circumspect about her beliefs in her field and her opinions on the defendant. Coy she is not. The ultimate affront was when she sought to put the cross examination on her terms by demanding the prosecutor speak to her like she was speaking to him.

Tuba I love the way you explain everything. So clear and understandable Thanks...

What I thought was a waste of time on his part was trying to cajole the truth out of JA by saying things like "I need you to tell me" "I want to know" "I have to do my job" etc.

JA is a psychopath and she couldn't give a dam about what HE wants because it's all and always will be what SHE wants. So waste of time on his part.

I just think he should known that much anyway. It doesn't matter now anyway, does it. :fence:

This isn't random questions and comments. These detectives get training in interrogation. There was a reason for everything he did. He kept her talking, he developed a rapport with her, and she went from denying ANY involvement to placing herself at the scene because of his patience.

That's a win. Just because she didn't't confess doesn't mean it was a waste of time.

It would be a debt forever hanging over her head;) .... Unless she moved to Florida.

A judgement could be filed and that's all that's needed for Travis' family to scoop every nickel headed her way in future.

For example, she draws (I use that term loosely ), she could give those drawings to her mother, who could sell them, and give the sale proceeds to JA possibly. Or her parents may die (not that I want that to happen fgs), she's a beneficiary of their estate, and she wouldn't see a nickel of it. It's a good thing to have filed with the court IMO.

Couldn't he be deemed a hostile witness?

Supposedly, he was posting on the JII site in early January of 2013. I would imagine that if he were on either the DA or PA witness list, he would have been admonished not to discuss the case publicly. If he did so, he probably bought himself a one-way ticket out of testifying for either side. JM alluded to the fact that MM did something in early January that could be deemed as a betrayal...

She's a woman that couldn't otherwise afford to be there everyday. It's a symbiotic relationship.
Honestly, it sickens me more that Dr Phil preyed upon Jodi's mother... Just like the network vultures picking at Travis's mutilated corpse for $$$$

It's hard to prey upon the willing. I guess the psychopathic apple didn't far from the money grubbing tree.

LOL...no kidding! I always shake my head and wonder WHY anyone sees her as smart OR pretty! I know...I know...different strokes for different folks. But, seriously, she is just NOT either of those things! :floorlaugh:
