They really should and I believe the judge has already ruled: Gag order, no camera's in the penalty phase. BUT I feel that the media should challenge this.

The media will do anything within its power, and then some, to get cameras in the courtroom.

New laws go into effect on January 1 regarding media coverage in the courts in Arizona. Electronic devices are expressly allowed by the new statutes.

It is expected that the media will submit a new motion once the new law is in effect.

We'll see what happens.

If med Feb the trail starts I wonder how long it will take for this to be over

Hi, maybe this is why media has been sort of quiet about this. They already know what will be. I cant wait for this to start. They should put an Aunt or other relative as witness. they will not do better. This trial will go on forever! :loveyou:

The media may not be able to do anything until they have a firm court date. jmo

Although, I have not watched a lot of trials, I did witness the same reaction after the verdict with the Casey Anthony trial. The verdict for that case of course was not guilty and I can get that people were upset, but the screaming did not help or change it.

Hi, if I were in AZ. I'd save my screaming and yelling for the day she enters Perryville. Then I'd hoot!!:great::dance::razz:

Well, I'm not surprised that I polled in the majority on this one.

I've stated my disappointment in JSKS on numerous occasions.

Nothing to add on that score.

CR2008-031021 1/3/2014 14:30 (AZ Time) Oral Argument - Undesignated State Of Arizona vs. Jodi Ann Arias

Contrary to popular rumor, there is currently no trial date set.

No new court minutes, thus no new updates from Friday's closed hearing.

Next oral argument (from JSKS' court calendar):

CR2008-031021 1/13/2014 9:30 [AZ time] Oral Argument - Undesignated State Of Arizona v Jodi Ann Arias

I suggest continuing to check Maricopa County Superior Court minutes for case CR2008-031021, watching the media, and checking this website for more information.

:waiting:

i'm aging as we type.............

for goodness sake, let's get this SHOW ON THE ROAD JUDGE!!!!:banghead:

all that comforts me is seeing jodi like this :jail:

Hi Marg, it varies by state, the jury decides whether she gets Life or the Death Penalty in AZ, if given Life, the judge will decide whether it's life without possibility of parole or life with possible release after 25 years (AZ does not have a parole system any longer but did when she committed this crime, which is why she has the possibility of release (although probably not a very strong one) if the jury decides on Life in the penalty phase.

To this I would add that in Arizona Death Penalty cases, once convicted of a qualifying crime -- in this case, aggravated (especially cruel) 1st degree murder -- the jury gets two shots at deciding whether the convict will be sentenced to death or life in prison. If both the initial penalty phase (original trial jury) and the sentencing retrial jury deadlock, then the judge will sentence the lying torture murderess to life imprisonment with or without possibility of parole after 25 years.

First, Happy New Year to all !

Second, has the date for the Penalty Phase [re-trial] been set yet ?

Not yet, dog.gone.cute. It seems the meeting on the 13th will be for Oral Arguments on motions that have gone before. Hopefully the judge will set down the date soon. jmo

:seeya: Thank You, LambChop !

This needs to go forward soon ... the Alexander Family have waited waaaaaaaaaay too long for justice !

:seeya:

I think she's going to pull any trick she can to delay this. Her lawyers know it's a losing battle and she doesn't want to go to the big crime jail. She should have thought about that before she killed Travis.
