i thought the memorial was wonderful. i cried as i watched it and felt nothing was phoney. i still get chills as i watch the youtube of no more nights with kyle thomas. i loved it.

I'm not arguing this point, or saying I don't agree with you (I am going to stay neutral for purpose of this point), but since you do not feel that there was any "phony" intent, do you have an opinion as to why Lee never referred to Casey or Caylee by name, but instead used "CMA" which are the intitials of all three females in this family?

Just wondering...

am I the only ws'r who thinks nothing of this statement - I thought he meant it to caylee and I dont understand why other people dont think it's likely? I have a baby just about caylee's age and I am proud of him every minute. I dont find this weird in any way.

calling her CMA, okay, weird, I dont call mine RAM ever....

Whoever it was that Lee was referring to as CMA at the memorial, he was speaking DIRECTLY to them...."CMA, I am so proud.... CMA, I will never forget promises..... CMA...", and so on.....

In all the LE interviews I have read, in all the media interviews I have heard, in all the documents I have seen, I have yet to see any member of this family state that Caylee was ever called "CMA" (I know George was JoJo, I know Mallory was Mowry).

So if Lee was speaking directly to (insert angel wing here)CAYLEE(insert angel wing here)...

How did SHE know he was talking to her???? She was, after all, not quite 3.....and had learned her name was Caylee...

That begs the question of the year, if not more.

There is a very simple explanation, in that he may have been referring to all the people he loves (mother, sister, niece) with same initials... but where's George? Nothing sinister, just that I think he's being left out and someone is driving it, and it would be one two CMAs, or both.

I think there's much more than meets the eye.

That's just it, the entire context was 'off'. Strange.

Personally, I never thought for one second that he was addressing Caylee. JMO.

really have no answer to that . the reason i started thread-lol. his behavior can not be judged as we do not know his pain or his way of showing his secret message he gave to someone. do you think when service was over cindy and george say why did you say that and kiss your arm ? were they knowing why? i did see during the one song one more night that everyone but lee was showing emotion. he was looking zombie like. i think he was really in pain entire memeorial and who ever he said those word to - so proud of you was real. i think it was for his sister who was in jail and wondering how she was holding up. cma - meant entire family of woman perhaps.

I often wonder if his "speech" wouldn't have been on TV what he would have said. I found the entire thing very selfish and not meaningful at all. He didn't celebrate Caylee's life, he defaced her IMO. This memorial was for the only CMA that matters, the one that was murdered, Caylee. Last time I checked you speak of a persons life at a memorial, not someone sitting in jail or standing next to you creepily grinning. JMO

I just do not think it's likely because of the overall context and misplaced "feel' of the speech, if it were Caylee-He was not lauding Caylee's talents as a toddler, he was not speaking in past tense of the ways she made him proud, he was not using Caylee's name, which would border disrepectful to anyone else who pulled this at an everyday funeral.

I am also proud of my child, she is here with me accomplishing great goals all the time-But she is alive here with me, and my (present tense) pride is in her actions in the here and now-It just, IMO, seems out of place to speak of pride without speaking of the actions, and Caylee was gone for 6 months by then, so she was not actively making LA proud.

'I was so proud to be your uncle' would have made more sense than 'I am proud of you,' but the A's language pattern does not mirror mine at all, so who knows?

He starts addressing CMA at about 3:03.

I agree, many of these statements are inappropriate in reference to a toddler.

This is transcribed from the Caylee Marie Anthony Memorial Service . It is Lee's speech.

Lee Anthony steps up to the microphone and begins:

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has had any sort of role in making today a special day. Thank you.

If I could ask something from anybody that was willing to hear it it would be this. For those of us that are frightened or angry or mournful or that just don't undertstand, I ask that you fill your heart with patience and grace and you allow yourself to yield any judgements that you may already have.

For those of us that will never be the same again, I ask that you feel, fill your heart with hope and forgiveness and you allow yourself to cope and heal.

Finally, for those of us that have the knowledge and the means to facilitate the answers that my family deserves, I ask that you fill your heart with compassion and truth and I ask that you allow your conscience to speak for you when your mind cannot comprehend the right words to say.

I sincerely hope that this day allows those affected by it to take from it whatever it is that you need to take. If it's closure you seek here today, I certainly hope you're able to find it.

Today is the day to remember.
Today is the day to pay tribute.
Today is the day for this family to unite and display their solidarity and strength. I've gotta tell you, it is hard to stand up here and be the pillar of strength.

This family is united, but this family is incomplete. I'm incomplete. I, uh, I'm broken.

CMA-(he kisses his wrist bracelet 2 times) CMA
Each day you continue to teach me about life and about the way it should be lived. Each day you give me the ability to be strong or to be weak.
It's been so long since I've been able to see you or to hug you or to tell you how much you mean to me.

CMA- I miss you. I love you.

CMA- I am so proud of you. I hope you're proud of me too. I need you to know that I will never forget the promise that I made to you.

I will never forget.

This reminds me of George, us here in the rest of the country, family memebrs that have doubted KC

For those of us that will never be the same again, I ask that you feel, fill your heart with hope and forgiveness and you allow yourself to cope and heal. KC's friends

Finally, for those of us that have the knowledge and the means to facilitate the answers that my family deserves, I ask that you fill your heart with compassion and truth and I ask that you allow your conscience to speak for you when your mind cannot comprehend the right words to say. Here, I think LA is speaking about he, CA and possibly GA-Remember, they think they can get "the truth' if they can talk to KC alone

I sincerely hope that this day allows those affected by it to take from it whatever it is that you need to take. If it's closure you seek here today, I certainly hope you're able to find it.

This family is united, but this family is incomplete. I'm incomplete. I, uh, I'm broken. I honestly think broken may be a little dramatic here, but I don't know LA, so maybe he is broken by this-I just think of LA as being better able to compartmentalize this and move forward with the rest of his life

CMA- I miss you. I love you. KC

CMA- I am so proud of you. I hope you're proud of me too. I need you to know that I will never forget the promise that I made to you. This may be for CA...maybe he promised mom that he would not give up on KC, that he would not hate her-CA may have been worried that GA was going to turn on KC, and she needed LA's assurances

I will never forget.

I had not previous picked up on this (but it is late and I may be getting punchy), but WHO is Lee referring to as "us"?

He stated:

Finally, for those of US that have the knowledge and the means to facilitate the answers that my family deserves, I ask that you fill your heart with compassion and truth and I ask that you allow your conscience to speak for you when your mind cannot comprehend the right words to say.

Shouldn't he have stated:

Finally, for those of YOU that have the knowledge and the means to facilitate the answers that my family deserves, I ask that you fill your heart with compassion and truth and I ask that you allow your conscience to speak for you when your mind cannot comprehend the right words to say.

Could his choice of words be implied that he believes one of THEM (the Anthonys) knows the "answers" and is imploring them to speak their conscience????????????? :waitasec:

in reading on google about case , it seems some feel the words some of us are directed to george and also mallory to stick with him thru all the issues they are facing and will face. us meaning his group-family - friends - not strangers. remember lee was being accused of being dad and other rumors. it must have been hard to be mallory and = so want to believe this was not happening to the man she loved and family.

I agree... this has been my take on it all along, too.

Oh I agree. In fact the whole memorial, other than George's part (where he seems to be reacting like a normal person to the situation) was a slap in the face to Caylee.

I thought it was unusual that he used a laptop for that speech. It was a short speech. Would you have taken your laptop to the podium? Just wondering.

I think that the "proud" thing was directed to KC and I feel it means they all share a secret --he's proud that KC hasn't divulged what it is.

Gosh, I thought the memorial service especially the weird CMA statements or code by LA was another disregard for Caylee, and the need to bring defense strategies into the service that was being held for Caylee.

I almost felt I needed a translator to decipher what was coming out LA's mouth. Surprises me that some people feel it was an absolutely beautiful service. I think it would have been better if they just talked about how delightful Caylee was.

I think his speech was more directed to Casey than to Caylee.

Poor Caylee gets pushed into the background again. Casey is the star and Lee is her supporter. After all, there is nothing else they could do for Caylee....

At the very least, he should have respected Caylee's passing and saved all the CMA stuff for the cameras later, not at Caylee's funeral. His actions, IMO, speak for the whole family: they want the whole world to see how "united" they are... people who are truly united with their families and/or friends can tell BS from miles away when it's faked, or overdone.

I can think of one CMA who might have orcherstrated that. It didn't work. In fact, it failed dismally - it had the opposite effect.
