ITA - also I would die of shock if Baez every willingly quit. Jump off his mega publicity bandwagon? No chance. I think he will hang onto ICA and be her "public voice" after the trial and she has gotten LWOP (which I think sadly is what she will get since I think she deserves the DP). The only way they will part company IMO is if ICA blames her situation on Baez and dumps him.

Baez can't quit. He was paid before she was declared indigent. As a result of a Florida law that took effect last year he is stuck. (Note LKB got out just before it might have forced her to stay). His only way out is if she fires him and the judge agrees to it. Something that is not real likely to happen at this late stage. (The judge agreeing to it. I think we can all safely assume that the only way that HHJP would let JB leave is if the defendant and all the other attorneys stated that they would not need any further delays as a result).

Its a plea. Judge would not close down court and waste a day. She is going to plea tomorrow.

Somehow, I hope you are right. Doesn't she have to tell what she knows if she pleads?

Finance problems? I'm willing to donate 10 bucks to keep this trial in the black and keep going. Anyone else?
jmo

I've donated my share already!!:maddening:

Not wanting to wear the same outfit again, Casey sent her attorney, Jose out to shop for her. Hey, that makes as much sense as all the other guesses.

jmo

LOL That could make sense. Maybe AF was showing ICA where people have been complaining about her wearing black today.

Not that it really matters, but it looked to me more of a Chocolate brown color rather than black.

If it were me (which it never would be), but if I were depressed/mourning the loss of my daughter, I would be wearing black/dark colors every day. One of the signs my depression is at it's peak is when I seem to wear dark colors. JMO

Good catch grandmaj!!

This is a misdemeanor case involving the theft of utilities. I wouldn't be surprised if this case ended in a plea as most of Jose's clients with misdem. crimes seem to plea. Doubtful he would rush back for this...

Charges: QUINTERO-OTERO, MARCOS A
1. THEFT OF UTILITIES 812.14(2)(C)

Florida State Statute 812.14(2)(c) states, "It is unlawful to use or receive the direct benefit from the use of a utility, cable television service, or community antenna line knowing, or under such circumstances as would induce a reasonable person to believe, that such direct benefits have resulted from any tampering with, altering of, or injury to any connection, wire, conductor, meter, pipe, conduit, line, cable, transformer, amplifier, or other apparatus or device owned, operated or controlled by such utility or cable television service or community antenna line service, for the purpose of avoiding payment."

Not in my opinion. I didn't get the impression the judge was pissed off. Seemed his normal self to me.

Not sure if he was not happy or just frustrated, but I did notice his rather abrupt hand motion after he asked CM if there was anything he needed to add...sort of a stop right there! hand gesture, like he thought CM was going to elaborate on whatever he spoke ti ICA about...JMO :banghead:

And see, I can see the judge agreeing to it. HHJP has commented several times in court that "CM is well equipped....". I think HHJP's patience with having to "teach" Baez along the way has worn thin....

I would think HHJP would view Baez' departure as an avenue to move this trial along...

Casey carries on dramatically when she's making herself out to be a victim, so if she was crying it was probably because she feels she's not being given time to get a good jury. JB is probably off filing that appeal since that was the issue before lunch. I don't get why they'd fire the judge. He'd be a reason to give for appeal after she's convicted. Personally, trying to only take a week to pick jurors was ridiculous, especially without taking polls first, questionairres, or even having a legal assistant do initial screenings.

Its a plea. Judge would not close down court and waste a day. She is going to plea tomorrow.

I have been one of the very few who believed this would end in a plea and even I am just not convinced at all that this is going to transpire tomorrow...

I would have expected to see relief on SOMEONE'S face....

And if she was going to plea.....why not today?

If HHJP was told that KC was going to plea...tomorrow....what guarantee would he have that she would ACTUALLY DO IT tomorrow? Would he still make the 15 potential jurors take the day off of work tomorrow JUST IN CASE she follows through....or tell them to stay home and risk losing yet another day of court activity if she changes her mind overnight?

Just can't buy it....

after rewatching im going to renew my opinion that she did get let jb go. There was an intense conversation between young female lawyer and casey that seemed more like a q and a. and casey didnt seem to care if the convo was secret or not cuz she didnt cover her mouth once during the whole exchange. then the long sidebar where jp comes back recesses for lunch and appears to be reading a note folded up on legal paper. could that be casey informing judge of her decision to let lead council go?? I have been getting the vibe that she was going to let him go since their falling out. I think i even opined that in one of these threads somewhere last week. That would be a private matter and would also not prevent jury selection from continuing in the morning if she chose to let mason now be her lead council. all imo.

She probably would have to, but who is to say it wouldn't be another one of her fairy tales?

I think the prosecution would have to accept a plea and I don't see that they will.

I've been having some weird dreams lately; the kind that produce anxiety.
Having followed this case for so long, I do believe it's affecting my psyche.

Just to go along with the subject, here is what I caught from INsession earlier today when they were doing a replay of this part of the day.

JB: I gave her my word I would do everything I possibly could, part of that is making sure she gets an impartial jury. I drove back from Orlando today I cannot neglect my responsibilities...

CLIPPED FOR BREVITY:

WAIT! If I am reading this correctly, and he stated this in court TODAY.....

Why was he in Orlando last night, only to drive back to Pinellas today???

What I heard was " while I may sure like to drive back to Orlando today, I really don't think I can neglect my responsibilities and get to question all the jurors..."

Mr. Baez has a pre-trial hearing tomorrow @ 1:30 p.m. in Orlando at the Orange County court house. I am expecting HHJBP to go through the roof on this one.

Little behind on this thread but OMG if this is true.

Maybe that is why he left today...to prepare for that, if so HHJP is going to hit the roof after he worked to get extra time to wrap up jury selection.

I can't believe that whatever it is, has not been discovered by someone yet.
