IMHO I really, truly believe ICA has fired JB.

First we have his really impassioned speech this morning about how he promised ICA a fair trial, the best defense possible, etc... (don't remember it all, actually tuned him out)

Then we have court back in session following a lunch that he wasn't in attendance at....

And ultimately Judge Perry coming back to the bench saying let the record show that the defendant is present, as is the counsel for the defense... Never did HHJP say let the record show counsel for the defense is present, minus lead Attorney JB. I find that HIGHLY suspicious that the record is not reflecting him not present in the 30 seconds court was back in session.

That and HHJPs body language... he was obviously shaken about something and the looks he shot to the defense table were very telling. He was NOT happy!

I really believe JB is gone, and the afternoon is required for the defense to regroup to see who is going to lead and how they are going to proceed. I don't buy JB being sick one bit! AF has been sick for days and has been there regardless.

When has the defense ever kept their mugs off tv for more than 2 seconds? I think that it is impossible for them to do so.

Last time JB was sick, everyone knew about it.

Any motions are usually passed to the news before they are even filed.

I can't wrap my mind around what this silence could mean.

If it is a plea, I would be very disappointed that there would be no trial and no possibility of us discovering what really happened.

Maybe CM will be on the news later telling us all about it.

Unless JB is projectile vomitting, has had a coronary, or the uncontrollable runs, how dare he call in sick after watching AF for the past week?? Although he is a guy...women tend to push through more IMO

No, she was was crying, and I'll go as far as saying that it looked like she had been sobbing ~

So, I hadn't noticed that Baez was gone ~

Was Jeff Ashton there this AM?? Because it appeared that Mason was MIA for awhile this AM also.

In light of the "low-down" that Judge Perry gave them right before lunch, and of course we all think "plea deal"!!??

I'm not so sure - With the motion presented this morning, and it being denied, then, the Judge giving them the option of going someplace else if they have to, I'd bet that Casey wants out of there.

If this is her only way of getting a delay, she'll take it, IMO.
Another day, another dollar, she doesn't care. It's not her money and she has nothing but "days" anyway.

She just wants a "do-over". And, why wouldn't she?? She has been given do-over's all her life, why should this situation be any differant to her?

Well, it looks like we may have our summer free afterall.
Cause either way, plea deal, or new location, it will take awhile to arrange that, and then the media!

You know if this jury is dismissed tomorrow, there will be more reporters out front waiting to pounce on them than you can imagine.
We'll have new stories, "My Week in Limbo with Casey", etc.
The "entertainment shows" will all be on their tracks and up their whazoo.

Man, what a mess.....

edit: regarding her crying - we have to remember, that ANYTIME there is something that has to do with her, she cries, real tears - this certainly has something to do with her this time around.

Purple Iris excellent post and ITA! From day one of this process I have said that JB & the rest of the DT would pursue dragging it out. And they sure have at every turn attempted and tried to use every possibility to stall this trial from beginning of jury selection. IMO this is nothing serious at all. It is no plea. There isn't a snowballs chance in he77 ICA will EVER PLEA to anything. Besides the SA knows that anything she tells them will just be more manipulations, mechanics and lies!

My guess is the hints dropped by JB about some other obligations in Orlando and he requested a longer lunch period. I am going to say it will have something to do with his obligations and JB returning to Orlando. And this is why nothing til tomorrow. Because I saw a very, extremely angry HHJBP this afternoon. He isn't going to slam Mr. Baezzzz until tomorrow when he may do so in person. Of course HHJBP cannot call recess til tomorrow unless the rest of the team and ICA speak about it and agree. Stall tactic fully aware of the risks and time constraints.

All I got to say is Mr. Baeezzzz better have one heck of a whopper, a true one to cover his a$$!!!!!!

BTW taking bets on this. It is how certain that I am of this.

Jean Casarez says the SA office have commented that HHJP decided to adjourn Court . No other details .
Right after HHJP lectured JB this morning about getting a move on, lack of facilities to hold this jury selection etc -they took a break after that- HHJP came back and said a phone call had settled the problem, but I am wondering if JB wasn't busy making calls of his own at that time, it all went pear-shaped right after that.... they broke for a long lunch, then adjourned for the day. Something happened in that first break, nothing to do with ICA...

The Man-Flu? :innocent:

I don't think that Baez is sick either, and, I do not think that their is a plea that they are making Casey concider.

Casey heard the judge say that they might have to pack it in and go somewhere else. The young gal attorney this morning walked in with a motion/request.
IMO, Mason had papers in his briefcase ready to go in the event that Perry refused them.

There is no reason for Casey to plea when she is safely and snuggly biding her time in the county jail.
After all, she holds the record for the longest time served in county lock up.
If she pleas, she's gone and knows it.
I'd want to stay put where I've been comfortable for the last 2 and half years also.

She can wait it out, see how a jury reacts, get herself another 6 to 8 weeks of Happy Meals or Taco John's vs her balony and cheese.
If things look like they are going south, plead out at the last remaining seconds before the jury comes back into the court room with their verdict.

Yeah, she pled with her Amy case, but, she took that right down to the last minute also.
We are not at the last minutes yet.
Not even close to it.

The minute she heard Perry tell that they might have to close up, her ears perked up. With the motion that was presented, and then his statement, she had her cake for the day, IMO, and was in no way going to give that golden oppoortunity up ~

They are going to request a new jury all together, IMO.

.. and someone brought this out. Don't know if anyone has posted it already, but there was a link to a wftv.com video http://www.wftv.com/video/27938803/index.html that someone said was right before the lunch recess. About the 11:25 mark you can see JB come to ICA and she mouths to him "do it" and then "I want it done." I watched a couple times and that seems to be the case. What do you think?

Well we all know JB left the building at lunch. If he had the gall to call in sick then that would surely have JP steaming...after all, mostly likely he isn't and it's a delay tactic......like "I'll show you" and what can JP really do about it, nothing??? Yet he knows he is being played by this DT....I would be angry, too!!!

I wish a lawyer would weigh in about whether or not an illness would be handled this way and not on the record as reason for court adjouring.

What's the problem with wearing black? If it were me, in KC's situation, I would choose black, assuming I had a choice.

I agree. There is nothing odd about Casey wearing black. Dr. Lillian Glass made a recommendation that Casey should wear black, and a few people here on WS have also expressed that opinion. Black leaves an impression of having respect for the court, and a realization of how serious/somber this case is.. there's been the death of a child (whether ICA REALLY feels that way or not, she needs to come across that way to a jury). Not even considering all that, the black definitely looks better than the Cindy Jr. or Little Bo Peep look she's been sporting, as of late. JMO, of course!

OMG, it surely seems like that's exactly what she said and then he leaves for the sidebar:banghead:

I have never seen CJBP look so angry. If I could read his mind I'd say he's thinking, "OK, folks, bring it on!!" He seemed totally beside himself to me.

On Tru Tv they said if it was a motion, why would the judge say court resumes in the morning at 8:30?

No motion would be heard that quickly. I'm stunned, thinking at first Baez quit, but see from reading he can't just do that!
