AFAIK the "German speaking" comes from the tabloids, not from the police.

I haven't watched the Crimewatch show yet, that's just what I've read.

We have to remember the PR and spin that the McCanns have always orchestrated - Clarence is probably the source of the German speaking. They spin everything.

ETA: Gerry lived and worked in Amsterdam for a year. Dutch sounds similar to German to the untrained ear.

Scotland Yard is also investigating sightings of unknown blonde men around the resort in the days and hours before the three-year-old was snatched. Police said the sightings, including men believed to be speaking German, suggested preparation and planning.

DCI Redwood said there had been a four-fold increase in burglaries in the area in the months before the attack and could not rule out that Madeleine had disturbed someone who had broken into the apartment where she was sleeping. In the 17 days before she was snatched, there was an attempted burglary and burglary in the same block where the family were staying.

Police said on Monday night they were also trying to trace a number of people going door-to-door collecting money in a potentially bogus charity scam.

If it was planned I don't know why they were walking around with a child, why not have someone pick them up with a vehicle? Were they planning to carry the stuff they stole without a bag or anything?

AR has efits for two blonde/fair men, a brown haired man, and one possibly two black haired men. There were also two "dark haired" men seen lurking on a balcony.

There were several burglaries in the weeks prior and as the black haired man was found loitering around a stairwell, it seems like maybe he was the burglar.

We also have the two blonde gentlemen who were seen in plain sight around the resort, the pool etc.

So, either a veritable posse of burglars or pedophiles, all hanging around the resort.

However....Madeleine was seen being carried away by a brown haired man...who has been identified as one Gerry McCann by eyewitnesses!

If it was a gang I think pedophiles, not disturbed burglars. If Madeleine woke up it seems like it would have been less trouble to just leave and burglarize some other apartment, or to silence her somehow, take what you came for and then leave. If they were terrified of getting caught burglarizing it makes little sense to walk about town with a kidnapped child -weren't they terrified of getting caught abducting?

For years attention was focused on a man whom a friend of the McCanns said she saw carrying a small girl near the McCanns' apartment. But Metropolitan Police released new descriptions and electronic images Monday of a different man, saying the man who was seen carrying the girl is now believed to have been a resort guest who likely had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance.

In an interview Monday night on the BBC program "Crimewatch," Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said the resort where the McCanns were staying on vacation had a nighttime child-care center where eight families that week were boarding 11 children. He said investigators had tracked down the families — one of which told them that they believed they were seen taking their daughter to the child-care center for the night.
"I would say it was a revelation moment," Redwood said.

Yes.
What would burglers want with a child? If she saw them, it's a good chance that she couldn't id them.

I can understand all theories.. the only part i dont understand is why she seemed to be asleep in the arms of a stranger walking outside... she didnt wake, cry or struggle ? Or had she seen this person before and trusted them so she didnt need to b alarmed.. unless she was already dead.. hence the dogs scent..

People do have a gait that is different from others-I can not only identify people by sight based on their gait, but can hear the difference. Now, I don't know about these witnesses and their ability to do the same...

You may just have to give up on Jane Tanner's witness sighting of Maddie's abductor, now that they've identified him as a man carrying his own child.

IDK...I'm not an expert.But,one of my sons does video analysis for a living, and he was just telling me that gait really is specific. It is also one of the easiest aspects to identify about someone on a cctv video. Go figure,huh ? jmo moo

Gee you don't think that maybe doctors had access to some kind of sedating medicine do you?

The man Jane Tanner witnessed had nothing to do with whatever happened to Madeleine. The police are looking at whoever the Smiths saw-whether he looked like Gerry McCann or not-I personally don't think the sketches look anything like him.
