Why is Adam Baker not in jail?

I don't get it - his daughter was cut up in pieces, and the home is a known crime scene. I thought keeping an eye on Shawn Adkins was enough, but letting AB keep walking the streets is wayyyyyy beyond me. There HAS to be some evidence against him -- don't ya think? I don't think EB did this all on her own.

Maybe the deportation would interfere with evidence coming back from labs after he was deported. Then they would have to extradite him back to the US if they deported him. That takes at least 30 days to do and more time for another country to comply I think. (that's why Chile made Joran Van Der Sloot walk across the border to Peru in order to help in his arrest, to speed that process up, that was just the neatess thing I had heard of too btw).

Just a guess.

I don't think they would deport him until the current criminal complaints against him are resolved. If he is convicted he would serve his time and then get deported. If aquitted they would deport him directly.

In any case, if they did deport him they would have to request extradition if they subsequently wanted to charge him in connection with Zahra. I'm not sure how that would work, but it might be a problem. Also, since there is no DP in Australia they would have to remove that from the table otherwise Australia wouldn't give him up.

It is totally mind boggling to me that AB is not in jail for the very least obstruction of justice.

He has lied about what time he last saw Zahra, his 911 call was totally bogus and very telling and the kicker for me is that there is no possible way this crime could have been committed by anyone else other than the occupants of the home. I could care less about the phone pings or who was married to who at the time.

The forensic evidence in this case has to be huge.
AB and EB are like two peas in a pod.
Exactly alike.
I am praying the GJ will indict both AB and EB soon.

Does the Grand Jury meet today...first Monday in Feb.?

My understanding is it should meet today. With that said I am very doubtful the DA has had time to go through enough evidence to expect them to review Zahras case yet. JMO

Perhaps there is more forensic evidence that is 'in the works'. If there is a charge now ab is entitled to a speedy trial, if they wait to charge him when all the evidence is back, a guilty verdict has more of a guarantee. ab is a man without a country, in a sense, right now. IMHO

There was a program on tv this past weekend about corruption and problems in the forensics lab in North Carolina, they may be dotting the i's and crossing the t's to ensure no problems, as well as a possible back log.

Another reason they might not have charged him yet is because Adam is an Australian citizen and The DA is adhering to the protocol of two political nations. In other words, this could be real touchy if he were charged before final evidence is released.

I agree. Or the DA needs a STRONG witness. I just read this in the AP news today:

snipped-BBM:
The warrant also said that cell phone records indicate Adam Baker was not in the locations where Zahra's remains were found on the day Elisa Baker indicated, but that cell phone records showed she was present in those locations.
snipped-

Adam easily could have left his cell phone elsewhere. So this does not necessarily mean he is innocent.

Adam Baker said in his 60 Minutes interview that there is no way his daughter died in Sept. Elisa's inditement says Zahra died on or about the 24th of September. He says he saw her the week she was reported missing!!! Big discrepancy! What could possibly explain him having zero knowledge of what had happened? And why would he lie about when he saw Zahra last, unless he was trying to protect himself?

I am not clear on the TOD as listed in the indictment. I think that is an approximation, not a firm date. Something must be listed. In those circumstances where exact TOD is not known, I believe the old "on or about" phrase comes into play. IDK. Hoping an ME report will shed light. That should be released soon I would think, now that charges have been levelled against EB. Perhaps when it is, we will have a better idea about why no charges have landed in AB's lap as yet.

My guess is TOD is listed as the last date anyone outside the family home can verify that the victim was alive. Maybe?

looks like no crow or humble pie for me or any of the other AB suporters today. Presser says no indication anyone else helped.

but that would not account for the alleged sighting of Zahra and EB at the furniture store. That sighting lent credence to the idea that EB was lying about the TOD which then offered hope that the TOD was later. Which in turn, made me less than sure about AB's involvement.

I honestly don't know what I think about his level of knowledge or involvement at this point. hmmm.

Well I always thought AB was not involved, but I sure as he77 wasn't a supporter of his.
I always thought he was a pizz poor figure of a father and should be charged with some kind of child endangerment or neglect.

They have to go after the big fish first. EB is their big fish. That doesn't mean that AB is getting out of this a free man. I'm sure once they're done with EB, they will go after him with whatever they can charge him with. I have faith that they are not ignoring the evidence in front of them that is a lot stronger against EB than AB. They have to go with the stronger case right now. Eventually, AB will be charged and go to jail. I have faith that this neglient father is not going to fall through the cracks and get away clean from this.
