IMO because it was for jury selection, not a hearing, not the trial.
Why would Cindy be there, she would have to stay in a hotel room, they are always crying poverty.
I would also think it was on the advice of her attorney, it wouldn't really look good for the Mother of the accused, in a death penalty case, to be sitting in on the jury selection.

How many high profile trials included questioning jurors on whether or not they knew who the defendant's parents were? I can't think of any. Me thinks the DT gave them a Come To Jesus Talk.

You know... on the eve of this trial finally starting.... I STILL cannot imagine what the Anthonys are going through. After all of this time, and everything they have done (or not done), I cannot imagine what they are going through.

So, in the spirit of JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE, I am hopeful that EVERYONE can finally get some CLOSUER and PEACE! And we can all FINALLY have true JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE!

I think the denied visit and MIA at jury selection is part of the defense team set up to show that Cindy is the control/punish parent they're going to portray to help save her life.

Cindy will jump in front of the bus if she thinks it will help get Casey out of this mess.

Well it might not be quite so dramatic as far as intentions. They already had the DT ask for them not to be in court. And we all know the Anthonys heavily rely on "the kindness of strangers". They had two choices: either drive four hours a day back and forth from the courthouse to Orlando or spend two weeks in a hotel. I'm thinking that, either way, it might have been an expense they couldn't justify with very little to gain (other than seeing that nutcake that stood up and yelled). The logistics and cost would have been prohibitive, imo.
