There is a motion hearing scheduled Monday in the case, but it's unclear if the judge will make a ruling on a change of venue.

The trial is scheduled for October and could last a month.

The trial against Darrell Brooks Jr. in connection with the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack last year will be held in Waukesha County, with a jury of county residents, after a judge on Monday denied a change of venue motion.

From the linked article:

Brooks boasts a lengthy criminal history, including allegedly opening fire on his nephew and for running over an ex-girlfriend in Milwaukee. He pleaded not guilty in February to charges related to the parade tragedy.

and

Darrell Brooks Jr. appeared in court on Monday, when his attorney revealed his client was changing his plea from "not guilty" to "not guilty by mental disease or defect." Waukesha County court records show Brooks has since been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Wonder when DB decided to be Not Guilty By Mental Disease or Defect - before or after the 6th intentional homicide charge???

Good defense attorney, anyway.

Remember that he had already been charged with bail jumping because he was already out on bail following an incident from July 24, 2020, according to court documents.

In December, Brooks told Fox News Digital he felt "dehumanized," and like he was being "demonized." He has pleaded not guilty.

The part about previous charges for using a vehicle as a weapon against the ex is chilling.

Car as weapon of choice, that's different.

Not to be outdone by committing this horrific crime whilst bail-jumping....

What caused his out burst in court this week?

I am not sure of the 'cause' of his outburst...but what I saw on a video from court was three sheriffs attempting to restrain him, and the judge trying to get this miscreant to calm down and face the music. Dude was out of control. He was yelling at the judge, and all of humanity it seems to me.

Boredom? Politics?
[Theatrics / playing crazy IMO]

Brooks yelled at Judge Jennifer Dorow and the courtroom gallery, expressing his boredom toward the end of the proceeding Friday, before she denied Brooks' legal team's motions to dismiss and suppress evidence in the case ahead of his October trial.

"I don't care about no livestream, all this political," Brooks reportedly told the judge after appearing bored and sleeping throughout the majority of Friday's hearing, according to WISN 12 News reporter Hillary Mintz.

Wait what?

Darrell Brooks, 40, appeared in Waukesha County Circuit Court where he's facing nearly 80 charges, including six homicide counts, in connection with the Nov. 21 incident in Waukesha. Brooks had changed his not guilty plea to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in June.

IDK. Whatever is needed for a conviction, that's all I ask...this way he'll spend the years in prison, not a hospital or "facility."

This ought to be an entertaining trial to watch, to put it mildly.

I will be interested in what his defense will be, he has entered a "Not Guilty" plea, but if it is not by "reason of insanity", what is his plan?

When asked directly by the judge for his reason why, he will not say.

In court Friday, under procedural questioning from Judge Jennifer Dorow, Brooks offered little explanation for that decision.

"I have my own reasons why," he said, after confirming he had discussed the pros and cons of his decision with his attorneys to again continue on a straight not guilty plea.
