Just noticed something that could possibly derail DB getting federal terrorism charges/DP: the Milwaukee county cases had him declared indigent.

Any legal experts here that could tell us whether or not someone declared indigent would be eligible for DP or if that charge/other things he was already charged with are now deemed unethical?

IANAL… but economic status does not exempt one from DP eligibility. Many domestic terrorists have been assigned to (and represented by) public defenders. The Boston Marathon bomber and Dylann Roof are two examples. Honestly, federal DP-qualified public defenders are some of the very best in the business.

“The suspect, prior to the incident, was involved in a domestic disturbance,” Chief Dan Thompson said. “We have no information that Brooks knew anybody in the parade. But I will say this, we weren’t able to even respond to that domestic call before it actually, so we couldn’t even investigate it. Was there an initial complaint of a knife being involved? Yes. Do we know if there was one there? We don’t know. We didn’t even make it there.”

No mention of a stabbing or that DB's ex was the victim of a stabbing or proof that a knife was involved.

Thanks for bringing this link to us because it does show that shortly after this alleged dispute DB decided to purposely run over the innocent pedestrians.

Economic status has to do with qualifying for a public defender. It has nothing to do with sentencing/death penalty. (When people say life without parole is much cheaper than death penalty, they’re largely referring to legal costs, including public defenders and appeals). JMO.

This family is super involved with their church who has been absolutely incredible. The local baseball community has also really stepped up and made sure that they are taken care of with meals etc.

And for some good news - Jackson’s older brother Tucker was released from the hospital and recovering at home.

So it was not a new idea for him to decide to do it again.

I am pretty sure he had thought about or fantasised about driving through a crowd before he actually decided to make it a reality. JMO

In the article chronicling the events of the parade, the Post continued to rely on the vehicle as the apparent cause of the bloodshed.

"A quarter-mile from the rotary building, at 4:39 p.m., an officer told a dispatcher a maroon Ford Escape ‘just blew by [him]’ at White Rock and Hartwell avenues, the intersection where barricades blocking traffic to the parade were removed just a minute before, according to police audio and time codes provided by Broadcastify," the Post wrote in the report published Tuesday. "A few moments later, the SUV rammed through the parade participants, killing five and injuring more than 40 people, including children."

I don’t like the wording of the article title, but it does lend credence to the assertion that DB was attacking a group of innocents using a vehicle as the weapon. DHS covers it in their documentation about security awareness for soft targets and crowded places.

The use of a vehicle as a weapon in a terrorist attack is not new. Recent terrorist incidents and violent extremist propaganda demonstrate that the use of vehicles as a weapon continues to be of interest by those wishing to cause harm. Attacks of this nature require minimal capability, but can have a devastating impact in crowded places with low levels of visible security.

Two citizens told an officer there was a possible fight near the boat launch at nearby Frame Park with possible knives involved, and the scanner audio includes the sound of a few officers responding with sirens. Then an officer gets there and says there’s no one there after he checks the boat launch and the nearby baseball field and rotary building. Just a minute later another officer first spots the SUV speeding toward the parade route. It’s not clear, though, whether the incident reported at the boat launch is related to what happened at the parade.

Thompson said in the November 22 press conference that Brooks was involved in a “domestic disturbance” before driving through the parade but police hadn’t confirmed whether a knife was involved.

As a further side note, on rare occasions, the government will take extra steps to ensure that a defendant has quality representation.

- To avoid far right conspiracy accusations of a predetermined conviction and execution, the Federal government provided Timothy McVeigh with one of the best private criminal defense attorneys in the country- free of charge.

I believe that it was initially referred to as a "stabbing" by MSM and those on Twitter before we had the full details about what happened when he entered the parade route.

Either way, we have his location confirmed as being at Frame Park - specifically the White Rock Ave side of the riverwalk - and that he was doing something violent that was classified as a "domestic disturbance" which likely involved knives, when something (likely a call to either the womens center or LE) made him get into his vehicle and start driving toward the parade route. I am unsure if we will ever know what the nature of said domestic incident was, but something must have set him off when he turned onto Hartwell from White Rock.

I'm attaching a file with the pin drop of where he would have turned off of White Rock onto Hartwell... had he turned the other way when Hartwell hit Main he would have gone towards 164 and avoided the parade completely.

I think they may be waiting to see if the death toll rises. God I hate thinking about that but that seems to be the logic of the prelim not being until January - giving people time to heal and finding out whether or not some of these people make it past Christmas.
