He just nailed him on his comments about “crazy women,” asking essentially why he needed to say that to build rapport and whether he thinks that about women. The detective should’ve said he was pretending to be sympathetic to DB to lower his guard and talk. That’s why the detective made that comment I believe. Again, common tactic. Not sure why he’s pretending otherwise.
DB was accused of domestic violence previously.

where is he getting all these questions...his previous attorneys must have been planning some of these.

  • #463
Judge has to go as late as possible until he gets tired and quits! I pray she doesn’t stop him now to only have him come back fresh tomorrow and continue stalling!

  • #464
Do defense attorneys get away with this much questioning? Asking the same question in different ways after it was answered the first time? Judge just told him he had asked that question multiple times; why wasn't he stopped after the first time?

Seems like prosecution should have more objections.

This has to be the worse trial I've ever gotten caught up in watching.

he is reading these questions right from the previous attorney's notes

Yep.

All of a sudden he likes wearing a suit, dress shirt and tie…go figure
I wonder if he’s thinking about that. Like what his life could have been like had he followed a different path. Does he blame his circumstances, his past, or does he have a moment of blinding clarity where he thinks - wow, maybe I could have been good at this? Could he have overcame the life obstacles, made something of myself, been a lawyer or accountant or made a simple life and a modest living helping others.

Instead he succumbed to anger and a treatable disorder and mowed down innocent people. Secured his spot in a prison cell for life.

Whew thank goodness he’s done! This is the most draining trial I’ve ever watched. Although the Tex McIver trial comes close!

Are you defending a killer? DB would not have been in that room if he had not killed innocent people. He could have ended that interrogation at any time. He did not. He lied to the detective about not being in the vehicle when video proves otherwise.

This detective assisted in taking a killer off the streets.

This trial is not about what was done TO the defendant. The evidence is overwhelming that DB is a murderer.
I'm not defending DB even a little bit. He is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and I am glad they got him. That has nothing to do with how this detective is coming across.

A good cop comes across dispassionate and careful not to violate a suspects rights. Even one as despicable as DP.

Given the circumstances and the nature of his crime I can also understand how that line can be blurred for anyone.

That 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 ran over the elderly and children just to avoid getting caught. There is no excuse for indifference to human life. I am against capital punishment but I might sentence this guy to death if that was an option and I was on the jury.

My problem with the cop appears to be avoiding what he swore to when he took the stand. He is trying to avoid telling the whole truth.

His testimony should be to DB yes I lied hoping you would be dumb enough to voluntarily incriminate yourself. It's not illegal and you are a terrible person and it's my job to protect society from you. I believe You ran over innocent people peacefully celebrating their holiday and I hope this jury convicts your 🤬🤬🤬 and the judge gives you the maximum sentence. You are a menance to society and it's my job to do everything possible within the boundaries of the law to serve you up on a silver platter.

I would gave the guy a standing ovation if he gave testimony to that effect.

DB is living his dream. All his life he’s been on the other side of the police interrogation. Table is turned for a hot minute, and he’s salivating at the chance. He knows he’s going to be just a prison number in a few days. He’s chucking it up one last time.
He will be a hero and a fool in the eyes of his fellow inmates.

I would find it very offensive to be questioned by the defendant. As a victim, professional, or witness. There is something wrong with our justice system that allows a perpetrator to almost "re offend" the victims. He is deliberately trying to goad the witnesses into reacting negatively. Probably trying to get a mistrial or something. The whole thing is a disgrace. JMO.
I agree with this andithink the judge has to really keep him in check when he is questioning his alleged victims.

Bet everyone except you know who is ready to get out of that courtroom right about now.

I honestly don't think he is smart enough to have those thoughts. he is really out there.

including paperwork 30 min. verdict
I'd give the jury at least 1 hour and 45 minutes. First they get to talk about this circus, then papers have to be filled out for each charge, then the jurors exchange contact information... I've been there, done that.

I'm thinking they don't even leave the jury bench and they unanimously give the judge a thumbs down signal. Lol

Interesting about exchanging contact info with fellow jurors... I never wanted to do that. But, I guess you could meet someone who becomes a friend.

I don't think so either. He probably has a "victim" mentality with his delusional grandosity. Complete narcissism with lack of insight that his actions have created his current situation. Always someone else's fault. JMO.

i tend to agree...I guess I would give them more than 30 minutes...can you imagine seeing this bizarre show an not being able to talk to anyone about it????? I mean they will need some time to process this with the only other people that saw this first hand. Jurors do sometimes connect with others and stay in touch. I personally liked to take off during breaks, lunch etc. and did not but some did connect.

Thank You for clarifying. I know that investigators do use maybe questionable techniques during interrogations. I’ve read about them before and I don’t agree with using deceptive techniques while interviewing a suspect. Actually I’ve never thought that was right. But in this case, I suppose my utter distaste for the tactics defendant may have clouded my objectivity. Thank You for clarifying your position.

You're so right... not being able to discuss this case has to be awful. I don't think we were allowed to leave during breaks and lunch but I was a bit of a loner during those times.

I was more than happy too. I don't want anyone thinking im defending him.
