Darrell Brooks had the right to remain silent.
He chose not to
He also was notified of the right to an attorney
He chose not to

Whether 'tricksy' or not, the interrogation was valid. MOO

Also, MOO... Whether innocent or guilty, it has been suggested by many in the law profession (as well as on TV!) to never answer in an interrogation without an attorney present.

DB thought he was smarter, and could dazzle them with his mumbo jumbo through the interrogation...just like he has always done. He failed. They had photos, videos and witnesses. And, DB kept talking...

Looking forward to tomorrow for that vehicle viewing. Judge gave him chance to make a statement in court and waive his right to be there. He did not take it so they will walk him out to the vehicle. I have to wonder what he is planning for that? I noted tonight as jury was exiting he was grabbing his throat like he is getting a sore throat. I expect before this is over he will claim he can't come to court and delay trial for being 'sick".

I'm not sure how it is going to work because he has shackles on his ankles.

DB stated twice..on the record..that he does not want to go to the vehicle viewing. Judge kinda blew him off, and stated that the plan will continue. Will they drag him, kicking and screaming? Will he even look at it if he does go? An interesting plan for the day tomorrow. We shall see

From the outside it appears that he wants to turn this into a circus.

Asylums need to be more available for some people. MOO

I'm thinking they don't even leave the jury bench and they unanimously give the judge a thumbs down signal. Lol
I can‘t wait.

Jury: We find the defendant Darrell E Brooks Jr, guilty of all charges.

DB: Objection. I do not consent to being called by that name.

Other than torture, does anybody have any ideas about why DB called JM to the stand?

she told him he could do a "colloquy" which I am sure he does not know what that means. Will they take the shackles off and let him walk over? I would not trust that guy without them. He is a madman.

No I thought he might go after the victims that had go fund me money collected but nothing there. There was no point.

Yeah, I am not sure he knows what is coming. If he does go, he will at the least be shackled at the ankles, as he has been I would think
I also think I heard the judge say that this will not be live streamed, but 'recorded' for the public viewing. So I am expecting a long lunch break for myself.

yes we can't go on the viewing.

What does he think he's talking about when he says, "I accept for value and return for value" ?? Is this part of the sov cit blabber?

I’ve been wondering if he might do something really out there when found guilty. Ala Michael Marin / Edward Leclair / Jeffrey Ferris.

I can't answer for certain but I looked up a couple of phrases that he uses repeatedly. They are legal terms in a sense. However, they relate to things completely outside of criminal law. One term was related to life insurance and another was related to tax laws. I don't have links so this is all imoo. I googled "tackett agreement" and the phrase you quoted. I think it relates to the SC thing as far as trying to confuse the laws intentionally but it isn't solely SC terminology. IMHO.

If this trial wasn’t involving the mass destruction of so many lives, SNL could make a stellar skit on the courtroom chaos. The Johnny Depp trial skits were good.

Apparently, having absolutely NO defense, the Public Defender tried to negotiate a plea deal to which Mr. Brooks objected, insisting on a defense that; 1) has no legal basis; 2) no exculpatory evidence, and; 3) no Constitutional question, and thus Mr. Brooks is representing himself.

There is no insanity defense. He isn't stupid. He graduated HS and seems to be doing for himself what no one else would do, fighting for his life and going down swinging. He has that right. But, he's been fool-talking like this his entire life and it worked to his advantage somehow. Until now.

Sovereign Citizens. Learned about that 50 years ago from a biker gang in Detroit - all graduates of Prison Law School. It didn't work then and doesn't work now - but it's on on the internet so people can learn to talk like a felon without actually being one.

Judge Jennifer is holding it together well. She is giving Mr. Brooks lots of leeway and extending patience and respect that no lawyer pulling these stunts would get. She removed him from the court room because of his conduct. He realized the error of his stubbornness, agreed to behave and he requested to return. She did not hold his prior behavior against him and welcomed him back to her court room. He's been desperately rude. She gets it.

Imagine being cross-examined by a scuzz ball that beat on his pregnant GF then killed 6 people and injured 61 with his momma's car by running them down for 6 blocks of a Christmas parade when you have seen this entire case and Mr. Brooks up close and personal. The Detective kept his composure despite his contempt for Mr. Brooks and the charade before him. Pro.

Mr. Brooks is going to spend the remainder of his bi-polar life behind bars in a state prison somewhere, getting beat up and XYZ'd, writing meritless, but endless, appeals and calling momma for commissary.

Mr. Brooks, exercise your rights, that is what it is all about, really. We'll wait.

PS: He is just mispronouncing "tacit" when he says "tackett".

Anyone think he will show up with those lists for the state to contact witnesses tomorrow morning?

Anyone here been in the actual courtroom? I might try to make it on Friday but I imagine it's pretty packed.
