Sheriff seeks 2,000 volunteers to search for Wisconsin girl
Fitzgerald told The Associated Press on Monday that "something triggered" the decision to conduct another ground search that starts Tuesday, but he declined to elaborate. He said he didn't know the exact area of the search but said it would include the land around Jayme's home near Barron, a rural western Wisconsin city about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Minneapolis.

Barron County Sheriff's Department

These are three images of the two vehicles of interest that we determined were in the area of the Closs home at the time of the incident regarding the disappearance of missing and endangered 13 year old Jayme Closs. Again, these are ONLY vehicles of interest.

If anyone sees or has seen either of these vehicles in or around Barron County over the past two weeks they are asked to call our tip line 1-855-744-3879 with the time they observed it, location observed and plate number. Again we are only taking tips based on the below information, no other makes or models will be followed up on.

Both vehicles were spotted in the area around the time Jayme’s parents, James and Denise Closs, were gunned down inside their rural Barron home last Monday.

Barron community holds on to hope as Jayme Closs remains missing
Fox 9 asked next door neighbor, JS, who heard the two gunshots go off last week, if the two car descriptions looked familiar. “This one I’ve seen something like it, but I’ve never seen it out here I’ve think I’ve seen it in town.”

JS also says it is a 24/7 operation over at the Closs family home. She says investigators have not stopped taking stuff out for evidence. Even her home was searched.

“FBI was here twice, a couple of days apart—the first time they were here they asked questions—and then they went through the entire house,” said JS. “TS went downstairs with them—and they went through everything—looking through every closet to check even looking down underneath in the closet.”

Throughout the day, authorities have been flying this chopper extremely low above the Closs home on Highway 8 in Barron and the surrounding areas. The chopper is looking for Jayme, clues and also mapping grids to help with upcoming ground searches.

Barron County Sheriff IDs 2 Vehicles of Interest in Closs Case, Reward Offered
A "Gathering of Hope" was held Monday evening at the Barron High School football field. About 300 people showed at the stadium to support each other.

There was music, prayer, victim's advocates, counselors and therapy dogs available. The Barron Area School District Superintendent Diane Tremblay also shared some thoughts. "I think it's important we have hope and let go what we can't control," she said "We can control hope and we will bring Jayme back."

For the crowd, community means more than living close together in a tiny town. It's about being present in each other's lives, especially now. "It is very daunting when you're hit with something tragic like this," one resident said. "It brings about a different sense of vulnerabilities."

Jayme Closs dissapearance: Wisconsin sheriff seeks 2,000 volunteers in search - CNN
A week after a 13-year-old girl vanished, a local sheriff is seeking a cadre of volunteers that's equivalent to two-thirds of the population of the small Wisconsin city near the teenager's home.

Monday's call for volunteers is 10 times the number of volunteers the sheriff sought last week. Fitzgerald said more people are needed to help search a bigger area.

More than 1,300 tips have come since Jayme's disappearance. More than 1,100 of those tips have been investigated and closed, Fitzgerald said.

On Monday, people gathered at Barron High School football stadium for an event called "A Gathering of Hope," organized by the school district. Jayme was a dancer and cross-country runner at Riverview Middle School in the district.

Search For Jayme Closs Enters 2nd Week; Sheriff Asks For 2,000 Volunteers
The sheriff says these vehicles were seen on surveillance cameras of homes and businesses near the Closs family home around the time when Jayme disappeared, and her parents Denise and James were killed.

The sheriff doesn’t know why type of license plates the vehicles have. But he’s hopeful this new information will lead more people in the community, the state and nationwide to call the tip line.

“Also for the community, this is a good time now that we have some vehicles of interest to look for changes of behavior or routine of people. We have the two cars described, either they don’t drive them anymore, they’ve changed their routine and what they drive or where they drive,” Sheriff Fitzgerald said.

Gathering of Hope held for Jayme Closs in Barron
“Our community stands behind her,” choir members said into the microphone, “and with her in hope.”

Jayme, a 13-year-old Riverview Middle School student, had been a part of their choir until she disappeared one week ago.

“Jayme is a beautiful kid, just like all the other beautiful kids you saw singing,” Barron superintendent Diane Tremblay said, moments after the “Gathering of Hope” event ended at Barron High School. “We have hope. And we’re gonna bring Jayme home.”

This grieving community of Barron County and Western Wisconsin spent a few hours on Monday evening listening to soft music, lighting candles and consoling one another over the tragedy that occurred here one week ago. Mental health professionals from the county were in attendance for anyone who needed their services.
