Ugh!If he pleads guilty there will still be several hearings. That we won't see the last of his face just yet.

Wow, looking back like you mentioned...it seems like years to me instead of months. This case hit me especially hard.As this thread has become very slow it has given me the opportunity to reflect on the case from the beginning I thought about the first few days- what little Info we had to work with and how we all interpreted that information in different ways. Some were convinced from the beginning that Jayme was the target. I for one did not believe that to be the case. I was convinced that James and Denise were the targets and it was a revenge killing. I thought Jayme was either taken in case a hostage was needed or it was just an afterthought. I was also convinced there were 2 perps Boy was I wrong. Many speculated the neighbors didn’t hear gunshots- or at the very least their timeline was wrong. It appears to have been a mistaken time recalled by the neighbors
I always felt that Jayme was alive but no evidence to support my belief
The 911 call was a mystery to all. What was on that tape? No mystery conversation just the sound of a crazy person trying to break into a bathroom I do still wonder if you could hear JP telling Denise to hang up the phone
Based on what we know now it is amazing that this was solved, and most likely would never have happened if it wasn’t for the strength and courage of Jayme herself
One last thought- I always wonder if JP was on WS. I recall a few posts by a member that made the hair on my neck stand up. Then they just disappeared

From the article:
No plea. I just wonder - if he is really still obsessed with Jamie, I wonder if he is going to go to trial, rather plead guilty, as one last desperate attempt to see Jayme again, even if it is to testify against him. However, I don't think that's going to happen. There is already too much evidence in the case, I don't think they need Jayme to make an appearance. I think they are and will continue to be very protective of her. From the article:

What about a plea deal? Rendelman said that’s an option: Patterson’s attorneys would have to show he is taking full responsibility. Keller suggested that while the defendant has yet to enter a plea, the lawyers would likely be telling him behind the scenes that the case is pretty much “impossible.”
Perhaps the defense could seek a plea deal. It doesn’t mean that’s going to be successful either, however. Barron County authorities would need to accept it.
If necessary Jayme could appear via CCTV rather than physically in courtroom. Wouldn't want to be defense lawyers asking her questions about what happened in the house, her trip in the trunk of the car, and introduction to Patterson's residence. No plea. She's already been through way more than she should have ever had to endure. Let her heal.
Would the defense lawyer's even have to question her? I don't know how they could without looking horrible. The prosecution could ask her the questions, the defense lets it stand, and then moves on to other evidence/theories to attempt to defend the perp.If necessary Jayme could appear via CCTV rather than physically in courtroom. Elizabeth Smart set to speak in Barron as area copes with Jayme Closs case
"The sheriff declined to say whether Jayme would attend or whether Smart will meet with her, saying he will never comment on Jayme's movements.
Smart will focus on her own experiences and how her community moved past her kidnapping but won't discuss Jayme's abduction, Fitzgerald said."
Whether or not ES meets with JC depends, I imagine, entirely on JC. She needs to heal, but at her own pace. It may be too early for her yet. Or she may feel she wants to be with another survivor. It all depends on JC. No need to push her. She needs a lot of time. And quite often it takes small steps.Interesting...
“Smart will focus on her own experiences and how her community moved past her kidnapping but won't discuss Jayme's abduction, Fitzgerald said. Patterson's court case is still pending and any comments Smart makes about Jayme could be used in the proceedings.”
So... that implies ES will meet with JC? Otherwise I don’t see how ES’s comments could be used in court proceedings. She’d just be another expert outsider stating an opinion. Opinions in media are not generally used in court.
On another note, I love that ES is offering her insight & experience to this community. I can’t think of a finer example of overcoming great horror to thrive & contribute to this needy world.
Hope he's honest about pleading guilty. Time will tell. Interesting his thoughts on LE.
