One possibly sad thing about leaving the house standing... Jayme having to see it if passing by.

It is not uncommon for people to have a huge emotional attachment to the house that they grew up in, even if there was no trauma whatsoever.

It is possible that the bank has controlling interest to make decisions. I wonder if the bank consulted the Closs family at all?

It would be a waste IMO to demolish it. The house may still have a mortgage requiring settlement and it's sale hopefully yields a financial benefit for JC. Fingers crossed that the parents insurance had a death pay off clause.

The photo's made it obvious to me this was their happy home -- the collapsible breakfast bar, wallpaper trim, large yard, etc.
The only home Jayme ever knew. Years of happy times -- hope it can be the same for a new family.

Also, I noticed at the bottom of webpage "search powered by foreclosure.com" and sure enough -- it's listed on that site as "bank owned."

Well that rots big time.

I am for tear down. I suppose the life insurance would not cover a mortgage. If they had one through work it never is much.

The clean up costs must have been a fortune.

There was the man who offered to tear it down. I wonder what happened

The bank has all the control at this point. It had to have gone into foreclosure to eventually come back on the market as a HomePath sale. They generally have a margin over the expenses that they want to bring in. The repairs were extensive. They may not even recoup their costs. The family will not receive anything.

I think the stairs are behind the door in the dining area, across from the front door.
Most likely, but I want to see them, lol! :p

I live about an hour away from it and I would offer to tour it for you but it would scare the crap out of me so I better not.

The home listing has been removed. Hmmmm.

Still appears on foreclosure.com

Also, I noticed when I first saw on homepath.com, listing read something to the effect "coming soon" under the listing agent name.

It's a large lot -- wouldn't be surprised if early offer accepted for a charitable act such a memorial garden.

MOO

"A man who admitted to kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing her parents has been moved to a facility outside Wisconsin.

Twenty-two-year-old Jake Patterson is serving life without parole for the October deaths of James and Denise Closs.

State records say he was moved Monday, but do not say where or why he was transferred. The Department of Corrections says his location is not being disclosed for his safety."

Exactly! The public has a right to know where his sorry @ss is. Hopefully it’s a state far away where his family can’t easily visit. Not to wish any more pain on them, but JC can no longer receive support from her family. He shouldn’t be able to look forward to regular visits either.
