What does this mean? I thought it was said that the Challenger was traced to an employee at Jenni-O and he was cleared, but I could have misunderstood.
That vehicle at the plant, and the driver of that vehicle were cleared.

Someone called in a tip, saying that a Challenger was parked at the plant.

Police investigated, and came to the conclusion that this was not the particular car they were looking for.

There are many Dodge Challengers produced between the years they are looking for (08-14), on the road.

I am sure the time range is that specific because law enforcement has evidence from their investigation that makes that particular time range and particular road during that time range relevant. I don't believe for one second that it is some arbitrary guess by law enforcement as to what time range they want information from the public about.
I don't think its a guess either. Which is exactly why I think he may have arrived at the house at a later time. Jmo

I’m leaning that way myself, but there’s simply no way of knowing for sure, if she was the intended target or not.

There are other plausible reasons why she could have been kidnapped, that don’t include a sexual motive.
If they find DNA on the mattress we will know. But they won’t release that info until a suspect is being tried, right?

But 12:30am to 1:30am covers the time from 23 minutes before the 911 call until 30 minutes after the first officers arrived. What am I missing from what you are saying?

There's no reason to abduct a 13 year old girl unless the purpose of the attack was to take her. She's a living, breathing, evidence-shedding machine. If this was a revenge attack on the family, why wouldn't all 3 family members be killed? If the point was to steal the child to hurt the family or demand ransom, the parents would not have been killed. If this was a murderer with a heart who did not want to hurt a child, he would have worn a mask and left Jayme unharmed.

Stealing a child puts a target on your back second only to acts of international terrorism. There are specialized FBI divisions and regional task forces whose sole purpose is to rescue or recover missing and exploited children. It is a very big jump to go from a run-of-the-mill street criminal to a kidnapper. There's a reason child molesters do not last long in prison - even hardened criminals do not condone hurting innocent children.
Thank you, and hopefully it is the reason why we are all here.

The most plausible alternative I could think of was, as a hostage / insurance since the 911 call was discovered, and the risk of capture was high.

Yes, in addition to the vehicles, a good reminder:

Throughout the investigation and search, Fitzgerald has asked that anyone report suspicious activity, including odd changes in the behavior of people you know.

“People may act differently shortly after committing a violent act. You may have observed such behaviors and not realized it at the time,” Fitzgerald said. We are asking you to think back to earlier this week and let us know if you’ve noticed any of the following.”

Changes in Routine:
• They will miss work. The absence will be sudden and unplanned. They may either be a “no show” or they may offer a reasonable excuse such as illness, death in the family, car trouble, etc.

• They may miss scheduled appointments. These appointments or commitments may include medical appointments, a regular responsibility to a friend or family member, like caring for an elderly relative.

• They may suddenly leave town, either with no explanation or with some reasonable explanation.

Changes in Normal Behavior:
• There may be changes in their usual consumption of alcohol and/or drugs. This could be an increase or a decrease in drinking or drug use.

• They may make a change in how they look or make it difficult to identify them, such as changing the look of their vehicle or selling or getting rid of their vehicle.

• They may pay too much or too little attention to the progress of this investigation that seems out of the ordinary. They may try to find new information about the investigation or, they may quickly turn off the news and social media or try to redirect conversations about the victims or their families.

• They may be anxious, nervous, or irritable. They may withdraw from normal activities.

Fitzgerald also asked those who knew the Closs family, or interacted with them in the last few days, to reach out.

“If you spent time with members of the Closs family recently, or if you have ever had a misunderstanding with members of the Closs family, or know someone who has, please call the tipline,” he urged.
Sheriff asks public to report suspicious activity, behavior
i wish they would add fresh unexplained injuries.

Idle Closs Family Question - DC's phone is in the hands of LE.
Jayme Closs's phone( if she had one of her own, LE would not talk about it at a Press Conference)
Did a working adult, James Closs, have a phone of his own ? I have never heard or read one word about a possible James Closs phone and it's present location.
Anyone know the answer to this James Closs phone question ?

Here is a UPI report that says "screaming" FBI asking for help in search for missing Wisconsin girl

There are other reports that cite both yelling and screaming.

I know this has been debated to death, but the neighbors' account still doesn't make sense to me. Hearing gunshots in the middle of the night out in the country is not concerning at all. I would probably assume it was a wild animal that was getting into something or attacking a family pet or farm animals...
If you heard gun shots surrounded by yelling and screaming though? That would be concerning. The neighbor's house isn't that far away. You can't see it, but on a quiet night there's no reason why they wouldn't have heard yelling and screaming from a house that close - especially when we know the door was open.
That part seems really strange IMO.

<modsnip - quoted post contains rumor>
Just catching here.....any new information about the red car they found in the Fox River in Oshkosh? It sure looks like the car LE described even though it's a Monte Carlo.
Not that I can find. Markings hint at (stolen?) auction vehicle. I wonder if Barron has a car auction lot w missing cars??

If this was sexually motivated, I highly doubt a sexual assault occurred in that home.

Just because this may be the case, doesn’t indicate that this crime wasn’t sexual though.

He likely kidnapped Jamie for sexual purposes, but his mode of entry, and the fact that it was loud, means that time wasn’t on his side.

He would have assaulted her elsewhere.

We know nothing in regards to the locations of any phones.

LE is playing this close to the vest.

Yes, he was cleared. That's why they are still looking for the vehicle. It wasn't the one they were looking for.

I think she would have been assaulted and killed in that house if not for that 911 call.

One specific Challenger seen at Jenny-O was cleared as not being the specific Challenger they are looking for. They are still looking for the right Challenger, the one seen on video from homes and businesses around the time of the crime.
Ok. Thank you.

The media has never asked about it nor has law enforcement volunteered it.

What I am concerned about is if this is a Duncan-style loner predator, there are not many people who would report the person missing or acting strangely. He could have set up a camp in the woods and not be seen for months. I am sure they are already checking campsites and flying drones over areas that could be potential campsites, but there is a lot of wilderness area out there.

I'm curious whether the fact that the 2000 person search took place in the areas north and west of the Closs home is that the investigators have photo evidence of the vehicles going in that direction.

I think I'm on the same page as MsBetsy so hopefully she won't mind if I try to explain. The point is that the neighbors claim to have heard gunshots at 12:31. But police are only looking for anyone who saw the vehicles on HWY 8 from 12:30 to 1:30. We are assuming that where ever the perps came from took more than 1 minute to drive to the house. Therefore we are thinking that either:
1. The police don't care about witnesses who saw the vehicles going towards the house.
OR
2. The neighbor's claim of hearing 2 shots at 12:31 may not be accurate nor even relevant to this case.

I lean towards #2 at this time. Which would change a lot of theories proposed so far. JMO.
