Thank You.It seems to imply there may have been call to CPS , possibly called family and children services in that area. I don't see any reason that anyone would think this. There is no evidence to support it and it would have been checked out at the very beginning of the investigation. Jmo
I thought this speculation came up many threads ago having to do with an acronym that was on the 911 call list of entries IIRC. It was never proved or disproved and eventually dropped from discussion.
it's wild speculation relating to a IMO ridiculous facebook rumor someone brought over earlier today.May I ask what this is all about? Tia
I havent seen anything that would remotely support DFC being called on this family about anything.
The police said clearly they have never been called about this family for anything.
Do you have a valid link to back any of this up or is it just your opinion? Sorry I'm just confused where all of this is coming from. Tia
Imo
Grrrrrit's wild speculation relating to a IMO ridiculous facebook rumor someone brought over earlier today.
That’s up to a judge, and depends on the case made. There are other ways to track devices besides cell tower data, but would require assistance from the phone manufacturers which can be more difficult due to rigid privacy concerns. The line between privacy and safety is blurred, and our laws need to catch up to support these type of law enforcement investigations. Technology is great, but can be a show stopper unless LE can quickly access that info. Maybe a “Jamye’s law“ could be pushed through Congress to allow LE immediate access to the phone records of any minor missing. Hmmm...

If it helps, I sent in an orange with black stripes on the IL/MO line. It had IL plates which wouldnt be unusual in WI, even though Im down near St Louis which is pretty far from Barron. It felt weird, and I certainly dont want to waste their time, but it was you and all of those here encouraging you to call it in that made me do it. It seems like a long shot to me, but we just dont know. So if you feel alone, dont, cause now Im an amateurish cringe right along with you and I know what that feels like.![]()

Maybe it had something to do with one of the agencies they contacted to get help trying to issue the Amber Alert. JmoI thought this speculation came up many threads ago having to do with an acronym that was on the 911 call list of entries IIRC. Wow. Thanks for the clarification as to where that came from.Someone erroneously stated that the "CFS" on the dispatch log meant "Children and Family Services." It does not. CFS stands for Call For Services and it is how LE logs the response to each 911 call.
When you call 911, you are calling for services. It is assigned a CFS number and dispatch will log who was sent out, what happened, and how the call was resolved.
Got it. I thought maybe someone was thinking there was a call to Child Protective Services or whatever is equivalent but now I see where that idea may have come from.Someone erroneously stated that the "CFS" on the dispatch log meant "Children and Family Services." Amazon isn’t a phone company.
It’s completely standard for LE to obtain phone records with a warrant.
From what I can find, it can take days or weeks in many cases.
I doubt they had to wait as long in this case.
Would LE be allowed to get a warrant to see the phone number of all phones that pinged in the area around that tine
I cannot remember the case, but a woman was missing or near death and the cell phone data could not be retrieved in time. I think she was with a killer. Was it Iowa or Missouri. A law was made in her name to get data if there is a known crime.
Aren’t I a fount of clear info? I wonder what happened to that law and if it was for the state only.
I know some people are adamant that there should not be such a broad reach.
If phone companies are private businesses and you go into partnership with them by having a phone, then I would think the business would set the parameters.
So frustrating to know there may be info out there. Until the perps are caught, everyone is at risk, I feel

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says 24-7 command center operations are ending in the Jayme Closs case, but state and federal investigators continue to follow all leads from their home offices. @kare11

Absolutely agree. If this case isn’t solved soon, or solved at all, it won’t be for lack of trying.Like everyone else i hope this case is resolved before too long. Not only for James, Denise and Jayme's family and friends sake but also for Sheriff Fitzgerald. He is putting his heart and soul into this case and he deserves some luck with it. I think he is a top bloke.
The link worked for me. ETA I used the jaymetips one.Hi kay74- if you're looking to submit a tip related to JLC's disappearance, it'd be worth trying the tip email again, to see if it goes through. I'd imagine that'd be the best method since it appears to be a dedicated email for JLC's case.
The email: [email protected]
If not, here's the contact form I believe you may be looking for. bbm
Kelsey Smith? If so, that was Kansas. And the law unfortunately didnt pass. The Supreme Court however did just pass a law this year requiring a warrant from police to obtain cell phone records. I dont recall all the details but I do know a warrant is required.Would LE be allowed to get a warrant to see the phone number of all phones that pinged in the area around that tine
