Right, but the fact is it was still reported in the beginning in several sources that the sheriff said there was a lot of yelling and a disturbance going on, and the only word they could make out was help. I always consider the local news some of the best sources, especially at the very beginning, before they determine what should or should not be revealed. Maybe on the first day he didn't consider it harmful to the investigation to reveal this information. It was likely the first interview. Jmo
BBM, do you have a link for that? All I've ever heard him say is commotion. Not saying you are wrong, just would like to see exactly what he said. As for the media, I see misinformation from them on a daily basis so I'm only listening to what the sheriff says at this point.

Me too! I wish he was our sheriff.
Meh, I'd prefer a sheriff that actually solved the crime, bedside manner be damned.

All of this is so true. We go to casinos in Mississippi during the year. We play card games. We are close with all of the pit bosses who do an excellent job especially with customers they know by first name.

We know we are constantly under camera view. I remember just this past August I won a big hand where tax forms had to be filled out. Before leaving the table I looked up and waved with a thumbs up. Lol

Later my hubby and I were walking back to our room and one of the security managers stopped me to tell me how beautiful everyone in the camera 'sky' thought my outfit was. She said everyday I am there the women who work security always look forward to seeing my outfit for the day.

So they certainly watch every minute of what is happening on the casino floor at all times.

I am glad they do. It makes me feel more comfortable and safe. Even if you win big money they will offer to lock your winnings in their safe instead of using the one provided in the room.

However I think the only reason the casino was even mentioned is LE wanted their excellent camera footage showing the roadway that would show any vehicles passing on the main road around the time this happened.

Jmo

Can you get your winnings in another form instead of cash?

But someone screaming help, not into the phone but in the house somewhere, would not be considered dialogue between caller and operator.
Yes, that's how I interpreted it. They said no-one talked to them on the line, they just heard yelling and a disturbance, or some sort of commotion in the background. The caller may not have been near the phone after the call was made. Or was trying to be quiet because they were hiding. Or unable to speak. Jmo

There is also the possibility that there was no other reason this particular family was chosen other than the killer just wanted to murder and abduct a 13 year old. He may have picked that particular house because it was isolated and could not be seen by any neighbors. Also there are many possible escape routes. He may have scoped out the area in advance and figured out the most likely route LE would make to the house and picked one of the routes that are the least travelled. They seem to think he travelled on that 14 mile stretch of road. Maybe he took some back roads that lead to the other road to bypass or avoid anyone seeing him in the minutes after the crime. Jmo

This is exactly what happened in the Shasta Groene case. The perp (Duncan) was driving along and saw Shasta outside. That one glimpse was enough for him to stake out the home, bust in, kill the adults, and take Shasta and her brother. And Shasta was found alive... although after only 9 days. Hoping against hope this is the case with Jayme.

I believe he will. I think hes got a strategy and hes maintaining it well. I have confidence he will solve this.

The operator tried to converse with the caller and got no response. The operator also tried to call the # back and got no response. I suspect it (the 911 call) was from Denise dying that she made that 911 call in hopes of saving her daughter. jmo.
I agree with you. Denise, presumed dead, drags herself to the phone and uses her last strength to dial 911. We know it wasn't James, he was dead where he fell, Jayme would have been able to scream in to the phone if it was her who called.

I'm pretty sure that's what they are trying to do. Why else would he appear so frustrated in the PC' s as 200 investigators were working around the clock? I doubt it's because they are not looking into every possible angle. I see no reason to assume that at all. Crimes are not solved overnight. This isn't the movies. Jmo

Omg. I just had the worst thought.
What do you mean?

Ma

Maybe. But I got the impression he wanted to address some of their concerns and questions without being i

In one of the earliest reports by the local news the author summarized the sheriff as saying the only word they could make out was " help," although later he would not confirm it. Maybe it was Jayme they heard. At any rate, they know she was there.
nterupted by the media. It's a small town and I think people were scared and he wanted to give them an opportunity to voice their concerns and answer questions. He seems like a sheriff who is very invested in the community. Jmo

According to the NY Daily News on October 22 it was Joan Smrekar (neighbour) who said that the FBI officers who interviewed her said that the only word heard on the 911 call was 'help' but nothing else as there was too much noise.

Early on it was said by family members to the media before they went quiet. Pictures of the door show damage so it was violently breached by force whether by gunshot, kicking or battering ram. Someone went through the door by force.
I read the same thing. However, I think the end result was kicked in, stated in links. Do you have a link stating shot through? Cause that changes everything with my theory.

How do we know she was there? I don’t recall any reference to that. Plenty of speculation. I might be incorrect but I recall no one in an official capacity sayingvshe was definitely at the house at any given time.

I know it makes sense, but there’s no statement or evidence she was there. What if she wasn’t. How does it change things.????
sheriff said in a press conference that based on what they heard on the 911 call and other evidence he couldn't talk about that Jayme was home at the time of the attack.

If you have managed to stay out of jail taking a 13 year old seems like a huge risk. Her picture is everywhere. She is probably worth more returned than as any kind of sex slave.

We see on WS kids that are missing a lot. Some seem like runaways and have been missing more than one time. There are easier choices out there.

But we see on WS as well, very strange crimes that we could have never even fathom.Remember the guy who buried a school bus with kids? So many twists on perversion

IF jayme had her own phone that doubles the chance of a fast 911 call. she may have been asleep threw the start of it, but I doubt she slept threw the first shot. we don't know if she had her own phone and age considered I am not placing any blame on her at all.

All families are different but, when my grand daughter was around Jayme's age, she wasn't allowed to take her cell phone to her room at bedtime. She was texting back and forth with school friends and watching Youtube videos instead of sleeping.

I'm not sure how those casinos are run, but according to what I have read from other posters it is all legitimate. How else would they pay besides with money?

Yes, that's a big problem. But I would think she definitely would have her phone with her in her room. It's like an appendage for teenagers these days. Imo

some type of check maybe? or could a check be a option is the way I read the post.
edit..well that is how I seen one post. I also see where the mind could jump to another idea in another

Ok, well then I guess I can go back to my original opinion that the killer disconnected the lines. The reasons given were so convincing that I gave up that theory almost a month ago.

LOL. I really don't know one way or the other. I still think it's plausible that the killer cut the lines. So many locals told us that the cell reception in that area is spotty at best that it does not make sense to me that the Closs family would not have a landline for emergencies. And also because they have lived at their home in the same town for so long I cannot make sense of them having disconnected it recently. Maybe it's a personal bias of mine. I grew up in the Midwest and my parents have had the same landline phone number all my life. They won't get rid of it,even though they have cell phones, because it's a number everyone knows. It just seems like a strange coincidence to me if the Closs family recently had their landline service disconnected. That would lead me down other rabbit hole theories...like wondering if someone was bothering them on the landline. But I don't know what actually happened to their phone line. JMO.

A lot of Casinos have "in house" accounts. They are like rewards cards that you get credits placed immediately on your card and you can cash that out whenever you want. Other places print out a receipt that you take to the cashier and either cash out, or "deposit" into your house account.

I just wont take a phone myself. if it was needed as its first intention was I would hate myself forever.
