It is possible that the 911 call was made by a dying DC and the distant noises heard on the call were Jayme being assaulted or removed from the house.....MOO
Yes, true... I've thought about this too. However, why did the call stop after one minute? If she's dying she will have to intentions on hanging up.

Even though I'm engaged in the discussion I really don't think gambling or the casino has anything to do with these crimes against Jayme and her parents. jmo
I just can't at this point put that together. jmo

This, yes. I have always assumed it is because Dad knew the person or someone in the house knew the person/s. They assumed they'd simmer down. Or, they left but never simmered down and came back with guns blazing and didn't bother chatting the next time.
When this was discussed earlier I thought this was an excellent scenario.

I'm not sure how those casinos are run, but according to what I have read from other posters it is all legitimate. How else would they pay besides with money?

I suppose sometimes casinos have contests where you can win things like a car or a vacation package. But there'd be records of that as well. LE would definitely know that by now.

Unless the perp was at the house already (inside)and an argument occurred. The perp became enraged and went to his car to retrieve his gun and came back and busted in the door .Could someone have called 911 at this time knowing the perp was coming back towards the house? Knowing something bad could happen and trying to secretly alert the police? JMO.

I have pondered the scenario so many times. I do keep going back to the Sherif saying through video they have 2 vehicles near the home when the incident happened. Two vehicles means two drivers. So, at the very least two people.

she might have fallen on it, service might have been poor, battery might have died, perp might have turned it off, etc. I can think of lots of reasons the phone stopped working.

Yes, I really believe if there were any connection they would have followed a lead by now. I get the feeling they are exploring every angle they can think of, even following through with weird tips they don't think will lead to anything.

If first responder did say both suicide and multiple rounds, he may have been wrong about both...we know he was wrong about suicide.

what are the reasons Jim would go to the door? And yet, the door was kicked in. So, it would make sense whatever he saw on the other side he didn't want to let in and shut it rapidly. I wonder if he was just letting his dog out, unaware someone was laying in wait outside and then he saw them, shut the door as they kicked it in.
idk I just keep trying to make the scenario work that Jim answered the door and it was kicked it.

I asked my husband what he would have done if he heard someone yell that they needed help. We lived in the country. I was shocked when my husband said he would have opened the door

James was a big guy who got some kind of award for going to the gym. He probably had plenty of self confidence. He was an athlete in high school

Can you get your winnings in another form instead of cash?
Turtle Lake (the casino) is a very small, tribal run place but yes you can get it in the form of a cashier's check or something similar for larger wins. That's not something they'd typically do for someone who won say $100 on a slot machine. Straight cash payout there.

I live in MN but have played there several times and it's very unlike the Vegas style casino rules, etc. that I think people are thinking about. The clientele is almost exclusively locals and those traveling to rural WI for cabin/hunting/fishing/etc. trips. I only went there because it was the closest place that offered no-limit hold em' as Minnesota state law prohibits that.

A lot of Casinos have "in house" accounts. They are like rewards cards that you get credits placed immediately on your card and you can cash that out whenever you want. Other places print out a receipt that you take to the cashier and either cash out, or "deposit" into your house account.
Turtle Lake may have something like that but it's likely for higher rollers. I played poker there a number of times and had several decent nights (+$400-600ish) and had a player's card (you need one to be eligible for stuff like bad beat jackpots) but was only paid in cash. I'm not sure they do 'house' accounts like you'd expect a Vegas casino to do. The casino really is your small, blink and you miss it hole in the wall tribal joint.

Agree with a previous poster who said that the reason the casino was mentioned is that they probably have the best surveillance footage of anywhere in the local area, certainly much better than a home camera in someone's yard. I also have many friends who work in the casino business and used to play poker as a side/supplanting income source in my younger days so have a certain degree of knowledge about general security practices - specifically at the smaller, tribal ones as that's where my friends work.

I think it's safe to say the phone didn't turn off. Dispatch called back and didn't get an answer. It rang and then went to voicemail. If the phone were off it would have gone straight to voicemail. If service were poor they probably wouldn't have disconnected their landline. That leaves someone hanging it up.

I think the perp took it and turned it off. But since we know they have her phone, and he did not take it or destroy it, it would seem that the killer is not someone who would have talked to her or who she met on SM. I can't see him leaving that kind of evidence behind. I think he's a stranger who may have seen Jayme somewhere. Imo

Yes, that's even harder to figure out. We don't know how the chair was used or how it ended up getting struck by a bullet if that's what happened. I guess it's possible that it could get hit from a person on the ground with a gun. I don't know anything about guns, but wouldn't the person have to be holding it or aiming low to strike the underside of the chair? Or under the chair for the bullet to go up towards the seat? Imo
Yes, but others on here had good discussions on the chair being used as protection, which would change the terjectory.

The police chief has said several times that there was absolutely no dialogue between the caller and the operator. To me that says that nobody said "help". Just background noise is all that was heard. Even the idea that there was screaming or conversation is just speculation. It could have been the sounds of somebody routing through drawers and cupboards looking for something. I believe it was described as "commotion".
I find it odd that someone had the presence of mind to contact 911 with Denise's cell phone but not say anything; with only background noise/commotion heard and maybe "help."

Again, so little known.

Quote: They believe the attack was targeted and planned. Family members recently returned to the Closs house in search for answers of their own. “It brought up more questions for us,” Suzi said.

I'm curious what brought up more questions?

Jmo just how ordinary their lives were, maybe. More questions about what motive could possibly be.

The casino is called Turtle Lake?! Or is in Turtle Lake? All this time I thought it was an actual lake, or town named after a lake.

Yes, that's what I first thought. That it was used as a shield or even thrown at the killer.

as for the phone. if one was barely alive and their hand went limp it could touch the screen and end the call and then no one able to answer call backs.
